Trey really threw you guys into the deep end of this album! Hope you guys review the whole thing one day, it's really a masterpiece and his best work in my opinion.
the song before ends with a poem, the poem gets longer as the album progresses, the track before says “i remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence, sometimes i did the same, abusing my power full of resentment, resentment that turned into a deep depression, found myself screaming in a hotel room” and is cut off by kendrick’s screams. the woman speaking spanish before the second part of the song is a housekeeper at the hotel, she’s basically just saying she needs to get the room cleaned up. i just wanted to clarify that part for you guys, although i know this is late and i’m not sure if you will see this or if you already found out about this.
Kendrick Lamar is highly regarded as an artist in today's music. I agree with you both Shawn and Gina that this song is depressing.. You are both right commenting on the power of influence. You both understand the lyrics line by line as you analyze the meaning.I agree Shawn that we all go through low times. Gina made a profound statement that we are our worst critics as we self analyze ourselves. And you are right Shawn that this is not about melody but the content of the message. This is a dark track and the vocals are like he is singing out of desperation.
Can't lie, it was beautiful watching you two react and take this song seriously. I wish I could get my parents the same. I have cried so many times with this blasting in my headphones, it's so therapeutic for me. Thank you for being open and transparent people. It's a rarity. Can't wait to check out more. Hi 👋 Good Afternoon Think that both of your thoughts on this were on point 👌 I found this hard to listen to .The self hatred and his self harming through drink was evident and his acknowledgement of it .He sees himself as not worthy of God's love and the guilt he carries is consuming him .As a person with Christian faith myself I know that none of us are perfect otherwise why would we need Jesus if we were. A Heartbreaking song ! I'm new to Kendrick lamar .An artist I have seen recently on you tube was Dax and his song and video of Dear God was just amazing .He is so talented !! 😊🔥
