  • These films from Andrew Berry and the team at At The Bench are quick, 'spur of the moment', on the fly films. They are quick and to the point.
    This 10 minute films shows you a simple way to restore the shine to your rolling mills. Andrew has had his Durston mills for over 28 years and has never cleaned them. Today he though he would treat the mills to a bit of a polish.
    Andrew Berry, a professional jeweller for 30 years, is the training director of www.AtTheBench.com, an award winning on line jewellery training website.

    I completely agree about buying a Durston being best. I also agree with your point, that any rolling mill is better than no rolling mill.
    So for now, April 2023, and being brand new into this, I'm going to buy what I can afford right now and Im guesing that it will help me save up for a Durston. Me and my first rolling mill, working together to save up. Thats the theory anyway, lets make it happen now.
    Cheers Andrew, great useful film.

    Super interesting video. I like this process more than the way I was doing it by removing the rollers and polishing by hand.

    I have an older Durston rolling mill that is beautiful and in perfect condition do you know if Durston sells the gearbox handle to make it easier to push or do I have to buy a whole new machine in order to get that feature?

    • @Atthebench
      @Atthebench  3 года назад

      If it is just the handle then they sell them. If it is a whole gearbox you need then they don’t have any old gearboxes and the new ones won’t fit

    • @laurenyoungs
      @laurenyoungs 3 года назад

      @@Atthebench thank you so much and Andrew. You are always so quick to respond, It is a model that is probably six years old so I'm sure the new gearbox will not fit it. I guess I will have to sell this one if I want to get one with a gearbox that is easier to push

    • @Atthebench
      @Atthebench  3 года назад

      @@laurenyoungs ah. If it doesn’t have a gearbox then you can’t fit one as the frame is different

      @@Atthebench thank you so much Andrew. I guess it means if I want one I have to sell the one I have.

    Dear Andrew my rolling mill squeaks infact it cries ..ive tried everything and it hasnt helped and its not more than 5 years ..what should i do

    • @morgeas2149

      Probably there are parts that need oil or grease (the ball bearings of the rollings?). If that doesn’t solves it, ask a machinist.

    with all due respect it would take days to achieve high polish using that polish and at that speed
