  • Hi everyone!
    When I was applying for student residence for my exchange semester at the Copenhagen Business School, I found it helpful to have videos of students showing you around their crib. The other Kathrine Kollegiet videos are outdated (2008/09) and so I thought I'd make a new one! I'm leaving tomorrow and my Copenhagen exchange has been absolutely incredible - you'll have a blast! I hope this helps, and if you have any questions, post them below and I'll get back to you when I can.
    Cheers,
    Colin
    P.S. - I paid 5500 DKK/month so roughly $1100CAD/month. Also, it is a quick 5-10 minute bike ride away from the main CBS campus.

    Hi Colin, thank you so much for sharing the nice video. I got room 09 at Kathrine Kollegiet, and I'm wondering whether room 08 and 10 are my neighbours or room 07 and 11. Thank you !

      You're fortunate to get a room at KK! To be honest, I don't have the answer to your question. It's been a long time. Sorry! Enjoy CBS!

    Hi Colin! Thanks so much for the video! I was wondering where you guys rented the bikes? 😭😭

    • @colinlam7386

      Glad you liked the video! A friend and I rented our bikes from a place at the corner of Havnegade & Nyhavn. Based on a quick google, it looks like it's called "Copenhagen Bicycles" but it appears to be temporarily closed (copenhagenbicycles.dk/)

    Hey, Colin, your room is so nice. Do you know Holger Danskes? Is that better than your accommodation?

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  7 лет назад

      I've heard a little about Holger Danskes Vej - my friend enjoyed living there and she mentions how the shared kitchens allow you to meet people easily (I enjoyed having my own kitchen). I've never been there myself so I can't comment on it too much.
      BTW...looking back, when deciding on a place, I should've placed higher value on the social element of the residence (i.e. ease of meeting people) rather than focusing only on the quality of the room. Although a nice room makes things a little comfier, the people around you make the experience! Nonetheless, most accommodations aren't too different from one another so whatever you get, you'll be fine. Hope that helps.

    Hey Colin, how is the student life at the Copenhagen Business School? :)

    Hey Colin! thanks for uploading this video. it is indeed quiet useful! on the pictures on the cbs website the furniture are not white but wooden and don't look modern at all. Are they all new and white ones in the rooms or was it just like that in yours?

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  8 лет назад

      The ones on the CBS website are outdated. Most of the ones in the residence now are the new and white ones as seen in my video, but I know one friend who had the wooden furniture. Glad to answer your question and let me know if you have any more. Good luck with the housing application process!

      +Colin Lam thanks Colin for your reply! Actually the application was already last week and I got an apartment at katherine kollegiet :) it's a single room small.. So hopefully I have white furniture :)) .. I guess the wooden ones are quiet old and battered .. Fingers crossed

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  8 лет назад

      My friend had the wooden ones and they were fine too! What floor are you on? I ask because he also had a single small, and he was on the 5th floor and had wooden furniture. Either way, you are going to have so much fun!

    • @twoveganstravel
      @twoveganstravel 8 лет назад

      I'm on the 3rd floor actually :) but yes, I think it will be totally fine either way! Ah and one more question: since you had protein powder in your room ;) did you went to the gym at cbs or somewhere else? :)) Thanks for your answers Colin!

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  8 лет назад +1

      There's a gym right beside Kathrine Kollegiet called "Best Gym" that I went to. It's pretty old and dirty but it did the job. But I think the most popular gym was Fitness DK right beside CBS Solbjerg Plads campus. If you have any other Qs, let me know - I love to help! :)

    Hi Colin, I just secured a shared room at Kathrine Kollegiet for next semester, and I was wondering if you could tell me about your experience living in a shared room? Thanks so much!

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  6 лет назад

      Hello! That's awesome - KK is a great place to live for a semester. Living in a shared room was an adjustment for me, as I've had my own room my entire life. It has it's positives and negatives.
      Positives include never feeling lonely as you are always within each others' line of sight. It's also easy to share cooking duties! Your room also tends to be larger and it becomes easier to meet new people. Negatives include not having as much personal space and privacy. It's also hard to ignore a roommates' mess.
      I preferred to have a single room but my living arrangement with my roommate is something I look back upon fondly. You always have someone to share travel stories, dinner, and thoughts with.

    Hi! I was wondering if you could answer a couple question I have. I'm going to be in a double this spring, and I was wondering:
    1. if the room has closets?
    2. What the wifi situation is

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  8 лет назад +1

      +Tyler W Hey!
      1) A double room does have 2 closets. If you pause the video at the 3:00 mark, on the very left side is 1 of these closets. There's more than enough space for your jackets, shoes, etc.
      2) No wifi, but there's an ethernet outlet on the wall where you can plug an ethernet cord in (you should bring one and if you have a macbook, bring the ethernet adaptor). Once it's connected to your laptop, you can use that as a personal hotspot for your phone. Also, the phone plans are dirt cheap here so you can just use the data on the phone plan.
      I hope this helps!

    Hi Colin, thanks for the video.
    Do you know what’s the situation for overnight guests (in single rooms). Are they allowed?

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  6 лет назад

      No problem! I don't remember the rules, but during my time there, the landlord was absent and there were no residence advisors. I had friends stay over several times and no one cared.

      Thanks for your reply! I had another question about the internet. In the contract it says we are not allowed to stream movies or TV shows? Is it true? Or did you get away by using Netflix?

    Hello! I was wondering how much accommodation was per month?

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  5 лет назад

      Hello! :) Rent was 5500DKK/month (roughly $1100CAD). This was back in the Fall of 2015 so things may have changed since then.

    Hi! I was wondering if this was a shared room or a single room? Do shared rooms have doors to separate the students?

    • @colinlam7386
      @colinlam7386  7 лет назад

      My room was a shared room. Nope, there was no door. When my roommate was home, we saw each other every second.
