Great video, Richie...except for one HUGE problem. You forgot the silicone O-ring. Take it apart, and do it again...otherwise, your diff will be leaking, and the outdrive on the spur side will be moving slightly in/out.
Great video. I'm sure this will be very useful to all the Sledge owners. From what I saw on Thunder RCs video Sledge owners will be replacing the spur and pinion gears often.
@@nbayoungboy5369bro! I own a sledge. Just got it 2 weeks ago. But took it out for the first time last week. First run out, pinion screw broke. Second run out today, pinion teeth and spur teeth broke. This sucks. I don’t have that issue on my XRT Ultimate.
Nice video, but there is no detailed information about part numbers(pinion is 18T? Spur is 46 teeth?, in this combination is mesh the same as 13/52 stock?) So spur is TRA9651? And pinion is TRA6491X? And mesh is the same as 13/52 stock? I rather have all the information in the video or in the links bellow, than list of Batteries, servo and bunch of other (16) links which are not helping with the pinion change or the right mesh issue. Roadside RC video about this pinion change is really much helpful and show directly what subs wanted to see.
No the mesh is not the same. He didn’t even show changing the motor shaft gear. I found out the hard way, I ran it with the 13/52 mesh and ate the gear up bad. You have to re align for proper mesh
Hey buddy, I just got me a used Sledge about a month ago. I'm running it on 6s and I've shredded 4 pinion gears. I recently replaced the spur gear also. I'm keeping it stock with the 13T pinion and 52T spur gear. How do I keep from shredding pinion gears ?
!!this guy does'nt know what he's doing!! dude you just cost me a couple of gears, the stock mesh on the sledge is NOT CORRECT for this gearing the mesh does have to be adjusted!
I have been doing some homework on this and I finally pulled the trigger and followed this video. Things just don't seem right. I experienced cogging in this truck for the first time too after putting on the 18/46. (Side note I cant find much on this question)-is there any esc programming that needs to done after changing the gear ratio?

You’re right. I just used the old, barely used O ring from the old gear

First time I'm changing mine I'd now if had it about 8 months

Very informative / tutorial video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and time making this video. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Very informational! Thank you! Great video
Don't freak out about how HEAVY the grease is!
You may have forgotten the seal in the diff. 💆♂️😎spur gear side 👍👍
Anyone having issues with the gear mesh? I put loctite on and tighten them and it still moves, causing it to bind. Any ideas?
So with the 18t pinion and 46t spur how are the temps on motor and esc.
So what’s the gearing you used? It’s not listed.
You forgot the blue O-Ring that seals the diff mate
Your right that was easy.
You forgot about the rubber seal behind the pin
Yes he did
I did this and striped the pinion and spur what did I do wrong.
What size Pinion and Spur
18/46
Did I miss which pinion he used?
I just released this same video this morning! :)
You might have done it better...
I am back with the world at last! I will email you, hope you and the boys are doing well. I’ve a challenge idea I’d like to run past you
