- I am honored to bring to you today, my conversation with Vashti Bunyan. Who is Vashti, you may ask. Well, she has a book out now, with a paperback release coming this fall, called Wayward: Just Another Life to Live. So, if you'd like to know all the details, I implore you to buy it here:

I'm not trying to support Amazon, I just can't find the publisher's direct website.
In a nutshell, Vashti became disheartened by the record industry, decided to quit music and follow Donovan(Yes, that Donovan!) out to a newly acquired land of his in Scotland with her partner at the time by a horse drawn wagon from London. The journey took a year and a half. And all of that lead to the writing of what would become her now seminal and sought after debut album, Just Another Diamond Day.
On today's show, she summarizes that journey even better, while discussing with me an album that wasn't necessarily an influence on her music writing, but certainly an album she loves. There are some connections that are made, but this is a little bit of a different conversation. If you're not familiar with her music, you really ought to listen to some of it. Here is a link to a couple of music streaming sites.

I laughed so much when you said "Who does that, nobody takes something that they love and says well let me find out all about this" because I am 110% that person. Once I love an artist or a topic I want to find out everything about it. I'm like a swarm of locust over the subject until I know it all, it's so fascinating to me. Anyway this is a marvelous interview. Her music is magical and it's nice to see that she's so down to earth. She's like the lovely neighbor that makes you never want to move. Her book was marvelous as well, her journey was pretty bleak but comforting at the same time. I very much hope we will get more music from her in the future!
Thank you for these very kind words. It makes me so happy to hear when someone finds some joy in these.
Great video James! 😊
Thank you Steve. Much appreciated.
