This is absolutely true. Read his lyrics out loud as you would literature or poetry. Now try this with every popular "artist" on the radio and compare the two. It's actually quite funny.. and somehow frightening at the same time. Ones taste in music is an extension of your intellect. He simply is the best.
@@bryenburns3446 he certainly is. What’s even more amazing is his ability to tie these lyrics to beautiful melodies and chord progressions. He’s so much more than just a great lyricist. He is a masterful songwriter. Hands down my favorite of all time.
when you need something for when you're cooped up in your room, and isolated from everyone, whether against your will or not, Bright Eyes will always be there for you. Thank you, Conor.
@V-Rex I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, and Digital Ash in A Digital Urn were two albums released at the same time (i think?) in the mid 00's that kinda blew Bright Eyes up. "Lifted, Or the story is in the soil keep your ear to the ground" was bright eyes before bright eyes became Bright Eyes in a commercial sense... i guess. This song harkens back to it, to my ear at least.
this is their first release in almost a decade, and he has solo stuff which is just as great. Check out Digital Ash Digital Urn. That's my favorite album.

Boy this sure brings up some old feelings id bottled away a long time ago. Glad they got the band back together...us old fans are still eating the bullshit outta the palm of your hand mr. Oberst.
@Joshua Hammond I actually did. It's different hearing a new song, I can't really describe it, it's like I listened to memories for years and now he came back...
So overjoyed that you guys are making music again. Your music has shaped me so much. Also, i hope that this doesn't mean the end of Better Oblivion Community :)
i can hardly believe this is real?? another subliminal message delivered through subliminal music by the same people i'd lost hope would collaborate again. we are here and it's now my dudes
Conor Oberst is the best songwriter of this century. ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!
I agree. Bold statement, but his material is that fucking good.

@@dinobelli6360 agreed. I think poison oak is the best song ever written.

Elizabeth Wallace we love you. Please recover.
Elizabeth Wallace much love to you and all.
Some of us have no one at all. For some of us it lasts decades.
Am I the only one who feels a "LIFTED" vibe? I mean, the arrengements and everything just seems like out of that pre-IWAIM/DAIADU era. Excellent song.
that's the album I thought of immediately when I heard this. Which is awesome.

It's this unique emotional feeling I cannot express in words that makes this go so close to my heart.
Feeling nostalgic and searched "Bright Eyes." Found new music and couldn't be happier!
I wish I could bottle that feeling...
@@drs2532 unfortunately I sometimes chase that feeling with a bottle.
I'm crying. I can't believe you're back.
Yes, he is back.

I'm so glad I discovered this band on Spotify - hands down one of the best songs of the year.
If you just discovered them, listen to more albums!
this is their first release in almost a decade, and he has solo stuff which is just as great. Check out Digital Ash Digital Urn. That's my favorite album.

Am I dreaming!!! I've been waiting for so long! I am so filled with nostalgia from your voice! Drifting in the ocean!!!

Had to do a double take when i saw Bright Eyes in my new releases section on spotify.
@Joshua Hammond did you really think that was funny enough to warrant liking your own comment
@Joshua Hammond okay that's fair
Never been more related to a song before!
the best!
Wonderful song!
Oh siiiii
Thank you Bright Eyes ❤️
Getting dressed for a date
Put on blue aftershave
Wore a kilt like a Celt
Hid the way that I felt
Combat boots, fallen leaves
West village halloween
To a Bollywood song
Taking shots 'til we're gone
Unwelcome in the autumn
Persona non grata
I'm the last of the best
I'm your thoughts in the swamp
There's a playground of children
In the shadows of buildings
There's a line out the church
Where your homelessness works
Where the stain glass of crimson
Meets Ezekiel's visions
Saw a valley of bones
Where no man shall be saved
And now you, you come to me, asking that
And now you, you come to me, and you're asking that
Oh how can we reconcile?
Left your innocence there
In Tiananmen Square
You were filled with despair
Underfed and depressed
Vacant lot where a prison stood
God knows you never would
Lie to yourself
But you do every time
Made a life of deception
And passive aggression
Going to scream when i sing
Going to die in the ring
Turn me on
You're a knockout
Climb up on to my cloud
D your worst to me now
Before I change my mind
And now you, you want to be true, to me once again
And you want me to be true, to you once again
Oh yeah you, you want to be true, to me once again
And you want me to be true, to you once again
Thank you Conor! We need this. Your music got me through my younger years.
AMAZIIIIING, BEST SONG EVER. Greetings from Spain
