  • Looking for the perfect case for your iPhone 13? With serious drop protection, but still looks and feels great? And MagSafe? Check out the Mous Limitless 4.0: the thinnest Limitless case ever! It’s not exactly clear how much drop protection the Limitless 4.0 is going to provide, as Mous doesn’t publish a drop height for its cases…they just say it offers ‘extreme protection’… but the Limitless 4.0 lineup certainly looks tough and very protective. Mous was kind enough to send me out the Limitless 4.0 in three of the five available finishes: aramid fibre, walnut and speckled fabric. Let’s check them out on my starlight iPhone 13!
    00:00 First look at iPhone 13 Limitless 4.0 cases
    00:36 Aramid Fibre Limitless 4.0 for iPhone 13
    02:03 Putting the Limitless 4.0 on iPhone 13

    09:22 Speckled Fabric Limitless 4.0 for iPhone 13
    10:22 Pricing, coupons and where to buy
    The Mous Limitless 4.0 for iPhone 13 is available directly from Mous and comes in Aramid Fiber, Bamboo, Walnut, Black Leather, and Speckled Fabric. A variant called Silver Pearl may be coming in future, but is not currently available. The Aramid Fibre is the most expensive, at $64.99-the others all cost $59.99.
    The MagSafe Compatible Black Flip Wallet is priced at $39.99, while the black leather MagSafe Compatible Card Wallet is a little more expensive at $49.99, probably because it is leather. Many thanks to the kind folks at Mous for sending me out these samples to review.

    Wish I found your reviews earlier! Everyone uses this case on the Iphone 13 Pro version for reviews, so I assumed the Mous camera lip protection was there. But now receiving my Mous case for my base Iphone 13 the lip is next to none compared to its Mous Iphone 13 Pro cases which is very disappointing. No other reviewers has pointed this out! Thank you for pointing this out and not only doing Iphone Pro & Pro Max as a bases for all versions.

    Great review as always. I am using the Flip Wallet with Stand for my iPhone Xs with the Limitless 2.0 case and it is so practical for my daily use, and I am going to get an iPhone 13 mini next month. However, I am actually shocked to know that Mous has radically changed the material of the Flip Wallet for the iPhone 13 series! Gone are the aesthetically pleasing look that matches with their leather case. And what saddens me even more is that Mous did not make the MagSafe Flip Wallet for the iPhone 12 and 13 mini (but they have it for the iPhone 12 mini Limitless 3.0). As a fan of Mous cases, I am extremely disappointed with their design decision.

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  2 года назад

      Hi Zikri! Yes, I was quite disappointed in the material change in the Flip Wallet...perhaps the new material is more eco friendly? Not sure, but it is not nearly as attractive or pleasing to the touch. As far as the discrimination against the iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini...that is unfortunately found across many brands. For some reason, Apple has sold many fewer of the mini iPhones as opposed to the other variants and case manufacturers have reduced their offerings accordingly. From a personal perspective, the lack of popularity of the minis is puzzling to me. My husband, brother and sister-in-law all have the mini and they love it...It is a super pocketable size!

      Hi Gianni! The Mous Limitless 4.0 is a great case...no question. I think you will like it a lot, although it is going to be thicker than your Apple Silicone case. As for me, being a case reviewer, I am constantly changing my cases, but there are a few favorites that I tend to gravitate to when I am not in the middle of reviewing stuff: Mous Limitless 4.0 is one...also RhinoShield SolidSuit, OtterBox Symmetry, CASETiFY Impact, and Pitaka New MagEZ Case Pro.

    Love your reviews. The 15% referral code you mentioned at the very end pushed me over the top. ;-). Thanks for that. I have a new iPhone 13 and foolishly bought a Otterbox Commuter, which I like, but does not have MagSafe magnets despite claiming to be Magsafe Compatible. I've since learned that compatible generally means it will charge, but won't actually grab the magnets well enough. Seems "Made for Magsafe" is the way to go or at least ensure there are magnets in the case? Looking forward to something more lightweight, thin, yet protective that also has magnet passthrough like this one. I'd return the Otter to get one of theirs with magnets or this Mous, but tossed the box ;-(. Might sell it on ebay ...

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  2 года назад

      Hi John! Yeah, case companies have made things a bit misleading with that whole 'magsafe compatible' term. You are very correct in saying that 'MagSafe Compatible' often means 'kinda works with MagSafe charging but with poor magnetic adhesion'. So, in my experience, unless a case is crazy super thin (like the Pitaka Air), it needs to have embedded magnets in it in order to work well with MagSafe charging. And the super thin cases with no magnets in them may work pretty well with MagSafe charging, but their magnetic connection really isn't sufficiently secure for use with products like MagSafe Wallets or MagSafe mounts. You really do need to have magnets embedded in the case to properly embrace the MagSafe ecosystem.
      So, 'Made for MagSafe' is an Apple certification, and not many case companies have it. My guess is that it is expensive to get the certification and case companies think it isn't worth it. OtterBox has it...maybe because they sell their MagSafe cases directly through Apple. But they are in the minority. Interestingly, Mous calls its cases 'MagSafe Compatible', but then goes on the specify that they have embedded magnets in them and that they are fully compatible with MagSafe accessories. Speck uses the term 'Compatible with MagSafe' for its cases which have embedded magnets. Nomad says 'Works with MagSafe', etc. So I think you have to read carefully and make sure that embedded magnets are mentioned...otherwise, it's probably not really MagSafe!

      @@TheTechReviewer Thanks for taking the time to reply. I ordered the Mous per your review, especially the other video where you compare it with Apple,Pitaka and I believe Speck. Curious, are there any companies that make a case with a ring type design, but don't actually have magnets? That would be super shady!

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  2 года назад

      Super shady indeed! I haven't seen that...but I wouldn't say it is impossible. No reason a company couldn't do that...just have a 'cosmetic ring' but I doubt they would get much repeat business after people realized they got cheated!

    Hi. Gr8 video. I was wondering with the inside linen layer is now gone, can the plastic inside scratch the back of the phone?

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  2 года назад +1

      Hi Danuel. I really don't think so...plastic isn't hard enough to scratch glass. However, if a piece of sand or something got trapped in between the case and the phone, then that could potentially lead to scratching. A microfiber lining would theoretically embed that piece of sand slightly so that it would be less likely to be able to scratch anything...that's the theory, anyway!

      Hi Jonathan! Responded to this question on another video, but just reposting to make sure you see my response 😀: If you don't care about MagSafe, then the Limitless 3.0 is a great choice. Hi Stephen! You are not alone! I have had a number of viewers complain about Mous's decision to remove those two features...I think they did it to give themselves more space for MagSafe magnets, and to make the case lighter and thinner. How comes the aramid fibre variant is the most expensive? Are there any advantages to it?

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Год назад

      Hi Samuel! Good question. I think it may be a bit more expensive to make, but I don't know for sure. It's a great looking material, and Aramid Fiber is super strong for its size. It's what bulletproof vests are made from. It's going to be quite resistant to scratches and provide good impact resistance. It also has a great feel in the hand. However, it does tend to show greasy smears and fingerprints pretty easily. Here's an article on Mous's website about aramid fiber: www.mous.co/blogs/news/what-is-aramid-fibre
      Hope this helps!

    When putting on a screen protector, would it be best to put it on as soon as you take the protective film off the brand new phone? In other words, when you first open up the phone box and remove the sticker on the screen, is it perfectly dust free or would you still need to clean the screen before applying a screen protector?

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  2 года назад

      Hi Anthony! I think that's a great time to put on a screen protector. Your phone screen is going to be very clean when it is just unboxed and unwrapped. You shouldn't need to clean it with an alcohol wipe or anything, but I would still go over it with a dust removal sticker before putting on your screen protector. Dust is everywhere and always waiting to pounce!

    I'm rather bothered by the speaker openings - not because they aren't offset like the phone itself, but because, at least on my 13 Pro Max, I have 4 round openings on the left and 6 on the right. In the still shots of these Mous cases, it appears that they are blocking 1 or maybe a bit more than 1 opening on each side. Was the iPhone 12 a symmetrical design, and did Mous just not bother to update the case for the 13? Also, the camera lip looks just *barely* taller than the iPhone 13 cameras... Hmm. Thanks for the review!!!

    • @TheTechReviewer
      @TheTechReviewer  Год назад +2

      Hi @JSFBay! Sorry to be slow in answering your question. So, I think the still shots you are seeing where the speaker and microphone openings appear to be blocked may be the result of shadows. On my 13 Pro Max Limitless 4.0, there is zero blockage of the speaker and microphone openings. All 4 on the left and 6 on the right are completely unencumbered. As for the amount of protection for the rear camera, you are correct that it is relatively slight. However, there is absolutely enough for 'lay on the table' protection as long as you are putting it down on a flat surface. With a rough surface, it might not fare as well. Hope this helps! And thanks for watching!

      Hi Bri! So, first of all, the Specked Leather which they had a few years ago isn’t available anymore. The replacement is ‘Speckled Fabric’, which is a PU coated fabric. It is quite grippy, but doesn’t have the interesting texture of the old Specked Leather. Comparing it to Aramid Fibre, it has a lot more grip, and the speckles look cool with a silver or starlight iPhone, but overall the Aramid Fibre looks fancier and more expensive. I would guess that the Aramid Fibre will also wear a bit better, but I obviously don’t know for sure…
