  • City of Delaware residents will see two issues on the ballot this March. The first proposes a 5-year, 0.35 percent income tax to maintain streets, alleyways, and other infrastructure; fund Municipal Court operations and support local economic development projects and capital improvements of existing facilities. The second, is to make permanent the 0.15 percent parks and recreation tax approved by voters in 2008.
If approved, the municipal income tax would rise from 1.85 to 2.20 percent beginning January 1, 2025 until 2030, when voters will have the chance to vote again to extend the funding.
These levies would generate an estimated $7 million in new revenue, almost half of which would go towards reducing the significant backlog of 195 streets and alleys needing repair. Ride along with City Engineer Bill Ferrigno as he explains this issue in more detail.
