  • I really enjoy this album, it's pretty nice as background music for studying. As usual, I don't really like vocals in background music, so I removed songs with vocals.

I think it's bc she was experiencing human life. She left the moon kingdom bc she wanted to be human and feel true joy, and with it she started to age the way a human does ((albeit very quickly))

Weird in fact, that's what I was thinking when I first saw the movie. This is pure tragedy, the joyful surrondings as your world is falling apart in a deep sadness. Just like a natural force that is indifferent to human's souls (that is actually what the moon people are, they just don't "get" feelings. That movie breaks me down everytime.

Honestly when I saw the movie for the first time I didn't know what to expect, but by the end of it I felt something I didn't think was possible and it stayed with me for weeks after. The characters, the music, the art, the direction, the deep themes told in simple ways and performed brilliantly by the Japanese voice cast. There's a raw honesty threaded throughout the entire film.
Listening to this music just brings it back again. The movie is a masterpiece that is unfortunately missed by so many people. Takahata-san created something that I personally will never forget for the rest of my life. I know it sounds dramatic, but that's how much the movie hit me.

Just saw the movie tonight, and a couple nights ago for the first time, as my theater's playing it for Ghibli Fest 2019. I had to go by myself, as none of my friends like anime, but whatever.
I've cried more watching this movie than any other movie I've seen. I stayed in my seat through all the credits not just because I wanted to hear all the music, but also because I couldn't stop crying and didn't want anyone to see me.

I'm in awe how Joe Hisaishi rearranged his sound for this movie to fit Takahata's meaning. Do we know how talented this composer is for understanding the right tone of the story and what music will empasizes it ? I mean, this songs are really different from the Miyazaki's scores : no lyrically strong theme instead Hisaishi depicts a mood, someting very raw and subtle. I'm sorry, I have trouble to explain my point the right way, words won't come to my mouth but I had to express my admiration for Joe Hisaishi that I had the pleasure and the chance to see live

She reborn as a child go live happily in a countryside but then she have to leave the place. Go from poor to rich then live as a daughter to fullfill parent's wish, as a human wish to be free from a society tradition or just free with her will.
Basically, they tortured her. As she said life is go from joy to sad, happy to desperate and will come back as a full cycle yet it is life in the earth. She is from the heaven, she must go back from where she belong

I first saw this at dawn when my parents were fighting when I was a kid. I've watched the movie over and over again, but every time I watch it, it still leaves a lasting impression. I miss pure emotions. I used to live in a rural town, but I moved to the capital last year. The film reminds us of the innocence of childhood in the countryside and the beauty of nature. It erases all my trivial troubles, sinks into graceful sorrow, and reminds me of the calmness of the countryside. Even just hearing the song brings tears to my eyes, and just thinking about Princess Kaguya's face makes me sad. All Japanese films have a lingering lingering impression, which is very precious to me. I'm using a translator right now, so it may feel strange, but I believe we can all get a subtle sense of how it feels.

As fantastic as the movie is (even tho i felt the suitors section was needlessly long), I'm glad the ending shot showed us the princess turning around one last time. The ending felt like a commentary on how, for celestial beings of these mythologies, the sorrow and love of human emotion are as inconsequential and fleeting as motes of dust. It would've broke me if she never turned around and challenged that idea, if just for a bit.

I just realized that the sparse, barely melodic quality of most the score likely represents the majority of Kaguya's life -- it plays this gentle riff with only one or two instruments joining in.Then you contrast this with around 34:15, when you get the whole orchestra blooming around you, and the soft rift becomes this all encompassing wind that lifts you up upon the whole orchestra's playing; you feel life. Then it all drops off 36:30 and we are returned to the melancholic solo version of the riff, and we are alone again. Kaguya goes back to her own life, seemingly beyond human consideration...but that wind, the joy she felt for the first time shared with another sentient being in the sheer joy of experiencing a short, mortal life, were just a blip in the timeline of her life.
(I can't really fit these couple random breaks into almost island music with chanting toward the end into my story, so idk XD)

A few year ago I was in my way to see all the ghibli movies, and back then they weren’t in Netflix and also this kind of animation was not so much popular (it was before the pandemia) and one of the movies that I was struggling to find was this one “el cuento de la princesa kaguya” in Spanish.
One random day I was zapping on the tv and out of nowhere I see it, there it was, I felt like a explosion of joy and my eyes couldn’t take of from the tv anymore until it ended. That first time I didn’t really understanded but I cry anyways because I wanted to see it again, now that in my country it’s available in Netflix I watch it from time to time and and I’m never tired of it.
I remember with such a detail this history just because it such that kind of movie that stick out to you and never leaves.
From my heart I wish that so much more people can have that precious memory of the first time watching this movie

Yes I completely agree with you, I think that in that dream is the only time Kaguya and Sutemaru (sorry If wrong spelling) are truly happy, so the music is most joyful in that scene.

What a beautiful film. It is really a beautiful poem to life itself, to the joy of life, to the blues that human artificiality creates, and to the nothingness of death. After watching this film yesterday at night, I haven't been able to think in another thing. It's such a wonderful composition. I wish there were such beautiful art masterpieces coming from the global west too, but sadly people seeks simpler films (like romantic and action films) in this part of the globe.

It's good that Kaguya left after feeling all human emotions. Even regret and sadness.
It's human life that she likes Stemaru, but even forgets to live knowing that it can't.
The music was very good when the princess went back to the moon.

Me hace pensar en la pérdida de un ser amado, no solo respecto a la muerte, sino también en mi caso a la despedida de la infancia de mi hija e incluso a la separación de cuando llegue el tiempo de abandonar el hogar... Es muy triste.

Hi everyone out there in the world! Whenever you will read this message, I wanted you to know that life is beuatiful in both ways: imagined or fully-lived because it doesn't exist a universal way to live life because it's just too short to focus on it too much, so let's gather together in our freedom of deciding how to spend it in the way it makes us the happiest ever. I think that the princess Kaguya showed us that she came back to the moon without no regrets because she tried to demonstrate how to live the way she wanted to with her loved ones in our imperfect world. Stay confident and true to yourselves, and overall live a happy existence with joy in the heart and dreams to reach, no matter how far they are :D Love you from Italy
