- This is the biographical documentary on one of the last living courtesan Zarina begum. The only artist from the time of Mallika-e-Ghazal Begum Akhtar. Once the star attraction at royal mehfils and marriages, singing thumris, dadras and ghazals now lives in a temporary roof that covers her only room…while she still sings the last songs of Awadh..
The collect footage of Zarina Begum is from Saba Dewan's documentary "The other song".
Thank You Saba Dewan for documenting Zarina Begum at first place.
These people should get monetary help or atleast pension from govt, they are real gems👌👌👌 of our rich heritage and culture
Nice tribute. True artists are neglected. Money comes to those who know tricks of show business and stage. Alas
True artists.
Gold mine of overflowing talents, yesterday's songs make us realize again that most of our current music is noise!
Noise????u insult this word..... today we have nothing but TRASH....SUNG BY TRASH.....
@@babagama4232 get lost
U really showed us why it was called “ shan-e-avadh”...you will always be missed
Such people are cultural resource of our country...such families should be given monetary help by state govt... ...
Shweta, an amazing, extremely moving short. A haunting tribute to a legend and an era of sophistication and great beauty. Thank you, hope this connects her and you, to posterity!
Her voice was magic! Great tribute to a rare gem!
Wow.. A great DOCUMENTARY.. Watching this after Hiramandi.. Excellent 💥
The amazing story of classic music legend Zarina Begum. Thank you for making this documentary and introducing us to the incredible talent of the Indo Pak subcontinent. Long live Zarina Begum through her voice.
Her voice gave me goosebumps. What a melodious voice. Such a powerful singing. Kabile taareef.
That's an extremely creative and well made documentary, and it's supposed to be a 'student's project..... Congratulations!
Thr r ppl who can dislike a video like this one....just don't watch it....don't show yr level ....I'm appalled..... beautiful documentary by shweta ji....sad to see how the talent fades ...ustad Bismillah Khan another sad story....I was the audience in manjari chrurvedis show....it was mersmerisi g....we don't deserve these gemstones that's y time covers them with the dust of anoniminity....shame on us......
There's a song that begum akhtar is singing in the beginning "hum khanuma kharab" i guess can i get the video link.of this video ghazal in her voice. Anyone please
You've used the medium excellently for this ethnographic record which will help so many others. Thank you for sharing. Found your channel on Begum Akhtar's 103rd anniversary. How apt!
My deep feelings of Shukriya to producer of this video...a rare treasure
Nostalgia ... stunning melodies ... love & respect from pakistan
Thank you for this creation. Huge respect to Begumji from Nepal
Thanks Shweta for historical work. Appreciate it
Aapko Baut Baut Dhanyawad for publishing on youtube.
All the respect to this great artist .Loved her singing always.
One can just shed few tears for the old gold - modern music is very cruel to old basics of the word 'moseeqi' time will never stop but reminds us of old days which at times is painful
वर्षों पूर्व मुझे उन्हें एक संगीत-समारोह में सुनने का सौभाग्य प्राप्त हुआ था।
BRAVO !!! Thank you.
thank you for introducing such a legend. culture of our past.
Inspiring... awe- inspiring... thank you for your enormous effort to give an insight on Begum.
If people around her had the slightest honour, they’d gather enough money to help support her in her old age, but unfortunately people just like to watch and praise with free words without taking action to help for real. This is the life of artists in our cultures, people waiting around and saying empty praises while the artist suffers.
Wow!!!!! Quite reminiscent of olden days back to fifties. A great legend lived the entire Era.
Kudos to Sarita Sharma, for well documenting a great musician of yesteryears.
She is humble, beautiful and a treasure - great project - enjoying this - thanks from London
Thanks for this wonderful short film.
Love it. Thank you for this video!
Yogi ji should give these gems some kind of pension. they bring glory to the state. her voice is amazing.
I’ve been the audience of this legendary singer, at “Mateen Manzil” Havelock Rd Lucknow on the occasion of a memorial program of late Begum Akhtar ji. I found no difference between the voices of Zareena ji & Begum Akhtar ji. As I watched the live performance of both legendary singers. I’ve been to her house as well because her son ustad Zahid Hussain had been my singing teacher.
What to say..this happens in this world. Thanks and Regards for capturing such heartful subject...
thank you so much!
Beautiful! A rare episode one of the classics.
Thanks for making this sensitive and historical relevant record for posterity.

Excellent video on a superb Gazal singer.
Very good documentary, congratulation. begamji is legendary singer in our India but sad filling to seen her economic condition.
A well-done report.
सलाम इन महान फनकारा को 🌷🙏🌷
Very nice narrative. Wonderful music!
Nicely done and thanks for bringing her to us🙏
So beautiful and gifted. There should be some kind of support offered her in her golden years. Where are the descents of those rich men who were the patrons of these artists. Some kind of organization that takes care of them. We can't rely on the govt. for everything. Music lover who have gained pleasure and joy from listening to them, owe a debt. This is how I feel and will contribute to such a plan if someone will create one.
Tnxx sheets ji ...v nice vedio
Very good heart touching report thanks
Amazing and informative presentation . Keep it up
Thanks for sharing this. I subscribed
Thank-you Shweta 🙏
Wow Amazing Work :)
The documentary is very nicely produced. But her Zareena Begum's birth year as 1947 seems to be wrong. Please check and edit.
1930.
Our bad habit is not worship a rising sun but cheer those who are famous out of publicity.
God bless you for honouring your guru with this. It is a wonderful sensitive tribute. Indeed, life is materially hard but the twinkle in Zareena Begum's eye gives riches to us all. I hope she and her family find some help through this video.
Such a great video thx
thanx shweta ji for posting this. such voices of our past heritage need help. Do any music academy has come forward to help her and other such artists?

Thanx shewta for uploading rare vedio..but I am very upset to see her pethatic condition
Very very beautiful 😍 really liked. Best wishes
Good work, but there’s some miscalculation in the age. She’s either not born in 1947 or not 87 yrs old.
❤❤❤❤❤زبردست پرانی یادیں ❤❤❤❤❤
Documentary on zareena begum,, so nice, worth watch
