I work in Manila. And seeing night time like this, not too many people, not so heavy traffic (I’m commenting early so I hope I’m right). Well lit and clean
Iloilo is an amazing city. Not sure if you seen a Filipina vloggers' Shay Travels, recently interviewed the mayor there as she is looking to hopefully bring the methods he used to significantly change the city to the gem that it is; removing trash, building out nice walking areas, etc. Great video James and so happy that Melinda is doing well. I am sure you will have your hands full trying to keep her from overdoing things and not resting!
Thank you James for sharing a bit about Iloilo City! I know that the both of you had a lot on your minds at that time, but we really appreciate your views of the major city near your location!
You're doing a great job selling me on Iloilo :) My wife is from Cebu, though we are considering other islands for retirement. Will be putting Iloilo and Panay on top of the alternatives list.
Happy to hear Mel came through it safely. Like I said brother focus on helping her recover cause that’s the most difficult part and she’s going to need a lot of support. I’ve been through it before so I’m happy to give advice one man to another if you need it 👍 And give Mel our love if we could be there we would help out in her recovery.
James, you just might be the reason that I bring my family to Iloilo too. Looking for a family-friendly city without the congestion and stress to establish some roots. Thanks for the videos!
@TexasFilipino if you have time and want to meet for a coffee, let me know. I used to live in TX, I'm here for 2 weeks, maybe longer if I decide to live here.
My aspiration ALSO! I'm a expat also who can't even figure out how to contact James and Melinda other than posting comments. Can you help this so ial media dinosaur?
Strolling around that area at night time gives me nostalgia. We were there in 2019 at Seda hotel for a three-day seminar. The view of that round about and McDonald's...seems just yesterday from our room on the 5th floor 😍
Thanks for that. Man that is so modern compared to Mindanao. Traffic moving orderly, clean streets modern buildings. We are backward down here, compared to Iloilo. Agree 100% - keep the riff raff away and keep your rare earth. Nothing wrong with nice friendly people.
Great little city, great tour. I am interested in recreational boating. Is there a marina there in Iloilo? Best wishes to Melinda for a speedy recovery.
James, we've stayed at Seda in Manila it's beautiful and very comfortable it's a 5 star hotel. Wow Iloilo is beautiful. Please do more videos like this.
Maybe he’s going to promote Cebu as he invites all Duma to IloIlo 😂 There goes the neighborhood 😅 Nice walk about, thanks it gives a better perspective on the city and people… Say hello to Melinda 🌹🙏 take care of yourself Mel, your Jame’s anchor.
Wow beautiful place thanks for sharing love come visit someday but like lot of people I don’t like the bad stuff people want to bring or we’re got watch your back everywhere you go or red lights districts along with the drugs and thugs you foreigners help keep your city clean and respectful along with working with government to have repercussion if someone messes up
I edited a lot of this video. I originally stated if your a monger stay in Angeles , Manila , Cebu etc but dont come here. Dont come here sticking cameras on girls walking by like they are not even human just a object. There is a channel that is new who is trying to do that stuff here. I hate it and it makes them think that all of us vloggers are that way.
I'm highly impressed with Iloilo. Beautiful city! My neighbor Royally pissed me off the other day. I've got a contract now with her landlord to purchase that property and boot her out! I'll be beside the Sheriff when she is served. I'm going to give it to my daughter. Once that and other things are done here in the near future, I plan to see y'all over there. ❤ y'all!
Hi James; Been quite a few years since I spent any time in Iloilo. I liked the walk and talk. Gives people an idea of the real life on the streets. It’s funny as your talking I can smell the warm air. Ah good Memories. Take Care of your good wife. She’s going to need your help for a bit. Cathy & Marc 🇵🇭🇨🇦
The plan is for the first few days of Jan 2024 to head back for about 6 weeks or so, maybe longer if I can talk the wife into staying longer. Never thought I would ever have that problem. Nothing happening here yet, just working in shop. Doing a diesel transplant into a 4 wheel field sprayer. Still looks like winter here, -20’c here last night, but spring is coming on the weekend. +17’c for Sun, Mon, Tues. The waters going to be running Finally. Been watching your videos on your transplant, coming right along, nice work. I love doing stuff like that. Keep up the great work on the videos, you have no idea how much it helps us get though the winter here, especially when we see things and places that we know. Very Much Appreciated. ❤️ Hope Melinda is starting to feel better now, I went through kinda the same thing back in 2001. It changes your perspective on life and what’s really important. Take Care both of you and we will be coming as soon as we can. Cathy and Marc 🇵🇭🇨🇦
Nice city there, James. Tell me, how did you deal with the kid wanting a handout? Different people handle them in different ways. Being the gentleman you are I can imagine you handled it nicely. I’m super happy Mel came through like a champ!
Most of the time, these people aren't from Iloilo. They travel to visit Iloilo and do their thing. It is because they know Ilonggos are softhearted and are giving, they take advantage of roaming around the city asking for change. They often earn more in a day asking for change, than the minimum wage workers here.
I told him I have nothing twice. After I got Mel's food I had change and I divided it amongst him and 3 others. I did not video it. Thank shouted thank you to me as I came back by them later. I see those kids all the time. Their moms are with them sometimes selling brooms and rags.
James, I am a new subscriber from North Carolina. I am catching up on all your videos. From this video Iloilo City seems to be the best organized place in the Philippines. Doesn't even seem like a place in the Philippines. Have you taken your boat out for a run yet? Say hello to Melinda.
Very nice ! Was Iloilo ever attacked during War 2 ? Angeles City was, and after the war over 2,000 Japanese and some battle damaged American aircraft were buried there. The Army also burned, and buried all of the Japanese bulk ammo they could easily get to, BUT they didn't get even close all of it ! Every time you dig up the ground there is a very real risk of detonating WW2 ammo. They built a little 7-11 type store about a mile from my house and discovered a cache of Japanese anti tank rockets ! OK,OK . . . what I really want to know is, is it safe to move the earth in Iloilo City ?
Yes Iloilo is historical for the war as well. It too was occupied. Their is Japanese pill boxes still in some rice fields here. Our community celebrates First Ambush and the US Forces landed on the beach here where my house is and pushed the Japanese on out after the Filipino Resistance cleared the way for the landing. Look up Panay Island ww2 on youtube or First ambush Tigbauan. There is actually footage. We have a MacArthur monument here as well.
This is way off topic but I am curious I am moving to Philippines soon and will be building a home I have boxes of commercial grade switches, plugs and other 120 volt receptacles I assume they will work in the Philippines higher voltage but lower amps single phase am I correct I know circuit breakers wont work but switches and plugs should?
Yes it will all work - your right higher volts low amps. Well when I bought breakers they was the same and you adjusted the amps. Where in USA we would use a 20 just put a 10. Not all breakers here are was the same.
4:12 Well, thats the downside of making those videos and showing how nice it is at the place you are living.. I will keep my place a secret for now, I want no people from Dramaguete or Angeles or whatever here near me.. an awful lot are no good company and bring bad vibes

Thank you for your time by showing us more of the fabulous City of Iloilo. You and Melinda made this your home and so would Juls and I. You ,your family and community are why we aspire to make Iloilo, Philippines our final destination. I'm trying to navigate just how to do that but can't even figure out how to message you privately. I have soo many questions and decisions to make and I'm certain you and Melinda can help. Currently we are in Vinsons, Camarines Norte, Bicol and am looking to be transplants to Iloilo. Plz contact us.
Is kind of funny you caught your new home? And you cannot pronounce the names of stuff and also you're trying to sell a little bit too hard. The kind of gives me a feeling that you know you're covering something up. You know when somebody tries to sell their friendship and now? There's trying to sell the city that day called their new city And you are. from Texas. I can't see that being your new home. Yes you'd like to Philippines but did you give up on America? Did you give up one Texas as a genuine home then you know you're not being a true American? It just confusing to me I'm not trying to be ignorant. I'm just trying to see where your heads at or where you come in from.
I have been here 17 years - half of my adult life. This is my second home to own here. I have a 14 year old son here. Cover something up? - freaking weird. My family is all gone in Texas. I had one sibling that is dead now. Both my parents and grandparents. I have a few uncles left on my moms side but they are in bad health and barely see them even when i am there. My daughters are extremely busy in USA as that is the lifestyle there. No time for family. Melinda is my wife and family. My son is my family here. This has got to be the most strange comment I have had in a while. Covering something up LOL
Awesome video looks like a very modern safe city.. Way more modern than I had thought it would be. Thank you
I am happy that you consider iloilo your new home!
Ok, that was better than I expected.
We appreciate the walk sir
You've made me even more sure that Iloilo is the city to move to. Thanks for a great video!
Looks amazing place will be there in November
I like this kind of vlog. I wish you will show us more different areas of your City.
I’m so proud 😊 to where I grew up my city of Love.

Yes we have promoted Henry n Anns places

I have been there multiple times! Actually I will still be there multiple more times because I’m from there.
When I was there in 2007 I didn't see any foreign tourist almost at all. It's amazing how much this city has evolved
I appreciate the tour James. Thank you.
I agree. Keep the trash out.
I want a clean place to live.
And I mean in all ways clean.
Morally clean.
Me too
Great little city, great tour. I am interested in recreational boating. Is there a marina there in Iloilo? Best wishes to Melinda for a speedy recovery.
Not a Marina but the city did just put in a public boat ramp.
👍👍👍

I'll be there this Friday!
That’s a nice place man will be there in in a few weeks can’t wait 🤙🤙

Didn't see any Jeepneys on the streets ..
There are so many jeepneys that passed by him on his video.

It's so discouraging seeing the sidewalks full of cars. And all the people walking out in the street. 😢 The city is really well-kept though.
The side walks was not full of cars.
I see now..... everyone walks in the streets....must be from Houston 5th ward 😅.
Its your fault James 😆 in a good way.
