THIS is how you conduct search-and-rescue after a tornado. Daniel responsibly handled the situation and passed along vital information to other responders. Though there wasn’t a lot of time to react, Daniel’s storm reports likely saved lives.
No Daniel Shaw video would be complete without "You're approaching a twisted storm! Please exercise caution." But really, what you did that day saved lives, and gives a very great example of what to do in a search and rescue situation.
It makes it even more rewarding to make a difference, I can imagine. And for me personally it makes the live stream even more special, far better than being in an endless conga line 😊
Oh, Doreen, you are a light on a dark day! And Daniel, you are absolutely amazing. I am honored to have you here in the US for chasing season. You, Hank, Brandon and Vince are all amazing! I love it when all of you end up chasing together, in a way! Thank you for what you do!
That was such a gripping video of a dramatic event. You did an amazing job on scene when helping the affected community and also in raising awareness of the dangers of downed power lines. The interview with the lovely lady made it end on a positive note. I loved her sense of humour. Great editing as always.
That Doreen, what a blooy top shiela! Not that youll likely ever see this but i hope you got that dish back and have been enjoying some quality programs! Gotta respect someone who can laugh in the face of adversity, great trait to have. ❤pt.londsdale Australia
I live in Moss Point, MS I remember this very well. I was lucky that I did not sustain any Damage. The Next few days I and my Elks LOdge in Pascagoula Took prepared meals out to the vitums of the storm. The Damage was very severe. Many buildings that were Damaged are still in same shape as they were right after the Storm. Sad to see that many people can not rebuild.
I remember this stream very clearly, one of the most intense streams.. your experience and professionalism really shone through this day Daniel as it always does, truly commendable!! This is why I’ll always support you. You saved lives that day. Wonderful editing, loved the interview at the end, Doreen is a gem!
Daniel, you're so professional and kind. You're such a joy to watch. Thank you for being there for the community and helping to make sure everyone was as safe as could be managed!

Was thrilled to see a new upload from you - you are one of a handful of storm chasers I enthusiastically recommend to others. Excellent work as always, professional and caring. Loved Ms Doreen - she had a long, difficult road ahead of her I'm sure but she was smiling and counting her blessings. Hope she and all the residents of the area are doing ok.
I've been an electrician for 13 years now and that "hot stick" would most definitely be going non-stop if the lines were still fully hot! But just getting those little blips means there is an external source that is feeding electricity back through those lines. Even if the "feed" is dead, you can still get power from other sources
You are my favorite spotter/chaser. I just found your channel and binge watched your videos. A true consummate professional. The way you stress safety as first the priority, then move on to the next priority. I see so many "spotters" and "chasers" get themselves into serious trouble because they don't prioritize any safety.
I watched this video with no expectations but I was deeply impressed by how professional & kind you were during the entire event. Both the safety concern and heart for others really shined through.
I know some people in Moss Point that we used to go see every year. Very nice place. Glad they weren't affected. Good job looking out for and helping people in these situations 🙏❤️🙏
Okay. THIS is insane. I live in Pascagoula right on the moss point line. The tornado actually lifted one mile from my house. I was home alone with my then 8 month old son. I’ve been through thousands of tornado warnings in my life, but this was by far the scariest because I just wanted to protect my son. Amazing footage!
I’ve been watching your videos after finding your account earlier today. As an American, who resides in Dixie Alley and has survived multiple tornados, I want to express my genuine and heartfelt gratitude for helping citizens of our country in need. You are obviously an incredible human. While Australia is lucky to have you as one of their own, I’m certain I’m not alone in thinking we would love to have you as one of ours. Wishing you health and safety in all of your endeavors. 🤍🤍🤍
Fantastic edit of the original livestream video! This should be used as an educational video for search & rescue training. Thank you for all you do to keep people safe before & after a dangerous weather event!
Thank you so much Daniel. You are amazing. We appreciate you sharing and for your countless years of support here in the US. Most towns and people in the southeastern states have no idea how to deal after a tornado as seen here. we certainly aren’t educated as much as we are with weather that you can prep for such as hurricanes in Florida. You are a great asset for the people and emergency workers. With solar gaining popularity many don’t understand that it can back feed into the system. That was an educational moment for me. Your streams always are. Stay safe.
Thank you for posting! Your videos are helpful to me as I learn more search-&-assist protocols. It’s my goal to chase more this year and to be prepared for whatever I come across. Keep up the great work! P.S. Poor lady still has to pay for the dish, what the heck?!
Very important and informative video for someone dabbling into chasing and might find themselves thrust into a search and rescue situation. Staying calm and being methodical in your approach can be the difference that saves lives. Great work
Wow Daniel, this was THE BEST,and most informative tornado chaser's show I have been a privilege to watch on RUclips! Your interest in the local people's well being, showed you're a strong and educated man! I mean, if regular people and police and fire and rescue could get it together even a fraction of what you showed me ....Thank you, again,I learned a lot!💚 Kelly Marie Collins in Las Vegas Nv 💚
I like how you showed your first response to the damage. Seeing how the process works was quite interesting. Thanks for providing the date of this event. I wouldn't have been able to find it on the damage assessment toolkit without it.
I live about an hour and half away from Moss Point on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. Some of our friends live in Moss Point and Biloxi. Was very scary getting texts from them telling me how bad it was getting and that we should get ready for it to come our way. 2023 was a bad year with the ongoing heat warnings and tornadoes here in the South. Just rough.
You are the best storm chaser I've ever watched!! I think all storm chasers should take all storms tornados etc like you do. People and animals are in danger and these so called storm chasers are out there laughing and yelling about how cool l it looks and it disgusts me. But you sur are a brill brilliant storm chaser thank you for caring about people's lives!! Our country needs more people like you!! God bless you!
They ARE beautiful. Speaking as someone who has been through multiple near misses and one direct hit that took my home, I can still see the beauty. It’s like a lion or a tiger, they are stunning and beautiful and the raw power they possess is awe inspiring but they are absolutely deadly.. I admit there are certain chasers who get under my skin. They seem to chase more for the thrill of the chase than the information they might gain to better inform people or give better warnings. I will never forget watching a video by a VERY well known chaser who stood in front of a demolished home, the shell shocked occupants standing in their homes ruins and they are high fiving one another and cheering because they ‘got the shot’. THAT was appalling. Do I resent their excitement for getting the info, no.. but there is a time and a place. That was NOT it.
I think the best part of this is I'm learning so much. I recently got certified through Skywarn. I want to do some storm chasing at some point ultimately I wouldn't be able to provide assistance in search and rescue because I can't walk however spotting storms, offering comfort and a few other things I can do.
Amazing footage like always! I really loved the interview at the end with Doreen. For having just gone through a life-changing disaster event, she looked great and was dealing with everything extraordinarily well. She deserves a free dish!!
This happened about 20 minutes from me. I’ve been interested in tornadoes for a few years and this is the closest to me since. I went out the day after it happened to see what tornado damage is like first hand. I drove to moss point early the next day. I didn’t have a plan on where to go but as soon as I got into town I saw damage and knew where to go. Police had most of the town shutdown so I tried to stay out of their way. I drove through a neighborhood and saw people just waking up, walking out their houses and talking to their neighbors. There was a ton of leaves and tree limbs pretty much everywhere, everyone’s yard was covered in bits of trees and people neighbors were helping each other clean up the rubble. I pretty much just drove around the town and checked out what happened, I remember passing by an alleyway and at the end of it was just the mangled clutter of wood. It looked like a sheet of plywood merged with a splintered tree. just this unexplainable damage and my eyes couldn’t process what I was even looking at. There were a ton of people out repairing the damage so I pretty much took a drive thru the town and left. It looked like moss point got hit with a giant leaf blower on full speed, and this is only an ef2 rated tornado. Honestly I cried on my way out of town. It just hit me that the people who lived here didn’t deserve this, it could happen to anyone and seeing all the neighbors come together and help each other out got me in the feels.
Not to mention that bridge he parked at when the tornado was starting was a horrible place to be. Mississippi math, that bride feels like it’s 2 miles long and Daniel park pretty much in the middle of it to watch a tornado. If you ever drove that bridge you’ll agree that’s like something out of final destination. I’ve been fascinated by this tornado since it happened I can’t believe Daniel Shaw got it on camera. I’m just glad nobody got seriously injured from it because seeing the damage this could have ended so much worse
That 11 or 22 KV line is more than likely to be only 7200 volts or less, three phase (4 lines) but nonetheless, still just as deadly. Those thicker lines you are looking at appear to be either overhead phone lines, or perhaps cable lines. Awesome coverage. You are by far my favorite storm chaser. Continue doing what you do and stay safe!
glad that you got more videos up was worried a bit since it was a while since i seen some videos, glad you do this dangerous work to keep the rest of us safe
Very Great Edit ! One of these Days when all goes so fast you just cant realize what's going on. When i was on the Livestream that Day it was so overwhelming. You are Sensitive on filming, working hand in hand with local Rescue, Police and NWS its a core example how to act as a Stormchaser in a S&R Situation. Your calm, methodic and trained Procedures over the Years have payed off on this Day. You very likely have saved lives this Day. Great Job Daniel ! The Interview was also very heartwarming even this bad situation she didnt lost her infectious laugh and smile
It’s incredible the amount of hats you wear in storm chasing. You’re predicting, chasing, alerting weather services, directing traffic sometimes, communicating with police, giving medical assistance, checking for live electricity, and search and rescue and cleanup. Wow. Oh yeah. And you’re documenting the whole thing with a camera. Just wow. Good work.
Daniel I saw you on a video from a tornado that went through our community in western nebraska maybe 6-7 years ago. You were stopped in front of power lines there too. I'm glad you were there to help. That was the first tornado my husband ever saw and it hit our town.
Fantastic video, mate. Thank you for all you do. And particularly for the endearing interview at the end. It really shows the humanity at stake in these conditions!
Best thing you did, among many fine things, was to let that wonderful grandmother speak. Courage, humour and solid common sense, she was beautiful. Good 'ealth, John Warner. Australia
Thanks for all your good work. Also FYI, though maybe you already knew or realized this after ... that one road with the word "Bayou" ... that word is commonly pronounced "bye-you". I wouldn't be surprised if it's semi-frequently used in road names in Mississippi and Louisiana (bayou = type of wetlands common in the broader Gulf Coast region.)
Just came upon your channel sir. I really appreciate your approach. Safety and a true love to help others. I'm sure im not the first, but can you imagine being in the southern US; get smacked by a storm and have some bloke with an Aussie accent asking if you're ok. Did i get whisked away to Oz? Well done. 73 God Bless.
I'm so proud of you, Daniel, and of all your hard work. We all are. Here's to another safe season ahead of you. Additionally, I hope you'll get to watch the total solar eclipse on April 8th. Much love to you!
Hey Daniel! I was reading your page, and I was wondering, are you fully EMS certified? You seem to know how to safely handle S&R situations, so I’m super curious if you’ve actually been through emergency first aid training and stuff. My best friend’s aunt was in the ICU for two weeks after the tornado in Tennessee in December 2023. She was impaled by a pole. A spotter was actually the first one to find her and help triage help to her as someone who was critically injured. Her ICU team said that they firmly believe if the spotter wasn’t there to keep the pole from moving, she wouldn’t have survived. It was 2cm from hitting her Aorta, and if it shifted, it would’ve been deadly. Thank you for all you do, and thank you for the informative and entertaining videos
Advanced First Responder (St John Ambulance, NSW Australia) Cert III in Health Care with MIMMS (MAJOR INCIDENT MEDICAL MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT) Certification. EMT/EMS Certification in the USA is another process and not required, nor would I have time to complete. I'm there to cover severe weather and document it with video and photography but where assistance is needed due to lack of emergency resources and where it is safe to do so, I will offer assistance within my scope of first aid training. The rule is thumb is, approach with caution and assess before getting out of your vehicle. In this case it was around an hour and a half before I even left my car. It's hard to do, but with live power around us, an external search within the car was the only safe option. If you have no training, a calm approach and size up of the damage from a distance is helpful. Saying to 911 "The entire town is destroyed, when it is in fact 20 homes out of 500, changes how they would task resources locally and statewide. Basic first aid training should be a must for every storm chaser and spotter in my view. Knowing what NOT to do may be more important than knowing what to do. IE, moving a spinal patient when they are not in immediate danger.
I love your videos. I'm glad to see you back. I live in north central Texas and Reeds predicting Texas to be the top in tornadoes. That's not a number 1 I really care to see though
I was living in Moss Point when this storm hit. My wife and I were lucky because we lived just north of I-10 right behind the Texaco gas station. Less than a mile where this happened.
I was there that day. I can strongly remember the tornado. As it got closer it got louder and louder, but luckily it didn’t hit my house. When they say a tornado sounds like a freight train it really does.
Wow Dan, we have no idea living here in New Zealand what its like to live in a place like this, earthquakes sure but tornados not many of those. Hey, love what you do, all the best for 2024 and good chasing
This tornado's path was not too far from me. A good buddy of mine was out in his shed when it came through his front yard. All he could do was watch the wind tear his house up. Luckily, he and his family were ok. The house suffered some repairable damage, and he lost almost every tree in his yard. His house is just off screen at 20:08
Daniel, what mobile and antenna are you running? Just curious on your set up. I’m going next month for SKYWARN training here in SW Ohio Wilmington NWS. Thanks! Ryan KF8AGB
You're the best dude!

Ahh and here we see the lesser spotted PecosHank emerging from his slumber to prove, once more, that he's just an all round nice chap!

Absolutely very professional, we need more trained up storm spotters , awesome job man !

Scary day but worth watching to see a chaser and responder at his best. So glad you were able to call this one in!
I was the only chaser on it. The likelihood for a delayed warning due to not having any other spotters on it could have been far worse.

Looking forward to your return this Spring, Daniel. Always the best chases. Safe travels!
I'm so proud of you, Daniel, and of all your hard work. We all are. Here's to another safe season ahead of you. Additionally, I hope you'll get to watch the total solar eclipse on April 8th. Much love to you!
You do amazing work!
He says around 21:55 that's he's medically trained
Advanced First Responder (St John Ambulance, NSW Australia)
Cert III in Health Care with MIMMS (MAJOR INCIDENT MEDICAL MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT) Certification.
The wind whipping over the water at around 14:15 minutes in looks amazing
Agreed, as if the storm wants all the water it can get its hands on.
What an awesome video, Daniel! Thank you for sharing it with us 😊
As always great job of communicating and getting right to work!
Thanks for all that you do.
Very good film. Thank goodness no deaths. Looking forward to watching you soon.
So glad to see a new video. Much love and happy chasing this year
I love your videos. I'm glad to see you back. I live in north central Texas and Reeds predicting Texas to be the top in tornadoes. That's not a number 1 I really care to see though
Back in April. Another big season ahead. Join us live via Patreon - Details on the website.
That end had me laughing so hard. So glad to see you and the lady had such a good sense of humor.
That lovely lady at the end. Loses everything and still has good spirits. God bless her.
Fantastic video! What a lovely human you are! 👍👍❤
Love the accent it makes these videos so much better 😊
Quickly becoming my favourite chaser. - you stared into the belly of the beast known as El Reno , and lived .
Well done mate! Always a hairy situation when in search and rescue mode.
Those HP Tornadic Supercells are no joke.
Awesome work Daniel!
Boa tarde para todos vocês que Jesus te abençoe vocês
Fantastic work
God bless you for the help that you give. P.S. How did you end up here in the USA?
He's been going to the states to chase for well over a decade and is one of the best storm chasers/first responders in the world in my opinion
Wow, People training to be professionals should watch some of this footage for some fantastic scene assessment.
Wow Dan, we have no idea living here in New Zealand what its like to live in a place like this, earthquakes sure but tornados not many of those. Hey, love what you do, all the best for 2024 and good chasing
Well done Daniel!

This tornado's path was not too far from me. A good buddy of mine was out in his shed when it came through his front yard. All he could do was watch the wind tear his house up. Luckily, he and his family were ok. The house suffered some repairable damage, and he lost almost every tree in his yard.
His house is just off screen at 20:08
This is where you might acquire a megaphone so you could give directions to homeowners.
Daniel, what mobile and antenna are you running? Just curious on your set up. I’m going next month for SKYWARN training here in SW Ohio Wilmington NWS.
Thanks!
