With your honest style and humor you'll no doubt excel no matter what direction you choose to take man. There have been multiple times when I've walked a line with the game myself. I have Mabinogi to thank for a lot of things going on in my life and the experiences and friends I've made. But the fact is, I also don't play the game even close to as much as I used too. I always used the game as a tool to express myself and tell stories, make songs and just do what feels fun but the reality is eventually there will come a day where I'll also have to hang up the hat and branch out creatively.
I started in 2008 and I left in 2010 or something I cant remember, came back in 2016 and saw messages from my friends that were waiting for me. I feel bad for leaving them for so many years. I left when Mabinogi was called Mabinogi Alchemist.
damn, that's when I started lol. the way the game is though, you don't "quit", you just leave for a while and eventually come back, that's literally the milletian lore.
It's been a blast seeing your journey in mabi, from the day you decided you would become a strong endgame player, the GODvu, to when your appreciation changed to the thrill of the journey rather than the destination. I've always respected your bluntness and willingness to go against the grain and be willing to talk about criticisms for this game a lot of us have grown up playing. Know that it you ever find yourself paying through the Soul stream you've got a friend in this hero
The 'there's no challenge in early game' hits really hard. At the very least, all the way through crusader stuff, everything is just a steamroll, and I remember using cobra venom and play dead way back in the day to poison a boss for one of the Alchemist chapter bosses. I remember when Glas Ghaibleann in g1 was still a bit intimidating. None of that is there anymore. I think it's objectively a good thing, all the boosts from blaanid, so that people don't have a 'required 3 years of grind' to get their foot i the door, but at the end of the day, if one wants to take a cynical (if realistic, imo) view, it's to get people to the gambling faster, not the 'fun'
it makes the game too boring and then overloads you with all the systems too fast. Why teach me to enhance my weapons in the area where I can already 1 shot all the mobs and story? Give me the appropriate power at the appropriate points I don't even log in after 1 week of playing the game cause it's boring to 1 shot and have 0 challenge.
My thoughts exactly. Couldn't have said it any better. I'll wait for the eternity update and engine swap, but if the only thing that changes is the graphics... Idk if it will be enough
I took an 8 year hiatus. I came back and its so overwhelming, Too much quest and I am super weak! Your video helped me see how to get a tiny bit stronger. Thanks.
i agree i dislike the 1% to get good at the game. but yea i also keep around to see what come next and enhoy the life in erin, will miss u kovu hope see u soon ovo
Hey Kode, Its been a pleasure to have met you through our journey on Mabinogi. The group ironman sessions we took part in together was the most fun i've had in years. It really took me back to the early days of the game where the game used to be a challenge, and still can be. The days where we hit our heads against the wall trying over and over to overcome monsters and dungeons which by today's standards are simple trash mobs. The feeling of accomplishment from being able to clear Barri dungeon, and Sidhe after repeated attempts. Facing challenges together is what it's all about. The points you have made are all valid, and I agree with all of them. Thank you for making content over the years about this amazing game which we all enjoy. I wish you a well deserved break and hope to see you around in Mabinogi whenever you decide to return. I' will most likely still be here. Mabinogi has been such a big part of our lives and I look forward to what the future brings.
While I’m really sad to see you go, I also can 100% understand your frustration and feelings on it. Thank you for all you’ve done for the community though, KodeVu. All of the comedic videos, the laughs, the smiles. The honest conversations that needed to be had, and for being an inspiration to many. The guide videos that explain a lot of nuanced topics, and the fun challenges! The Iron man streams were a joy to listen in on during the weekends. The comical skits and your talented editing! Sincerely, I wish you the best in whatever you do moving forward. Thank you for inspiring me to strive to make others smile. I’m glad to have been a viewer and watched the journey. ❤
Fair well Vu the adventures I got to spend with you were great (Dont take my wife). Best wishes to where ever you go though. What ever comes of Mabinogi I will grit to the end, but you indeed placed many of the issues were given things way to fast. Not to say I've had similar thoughts in the recent years along side I do agree with points made. The actual challenges and social aspects are being stripped from the heart of the game. Take time to adventure, learn, experience, and love. Guides and Meta I feel robbed others of that view and letting their wonder guide them. Mabinogi was never a race its a life long adventure for me for the last 18 years, and I love this game but due to the communities along willingness to talk side taking the roads of less traveled and fooling around and showing the passion to others and helping them out on their own journeys and watching them grow. Thank you for the work you put and the passion you have for Mabinogi, I do hope to see you return one day, I'm most defiantly not going unless its ripped from me, so feel free to say Hi.
I ended up taking a long break from Mabinogi because my guild stopped playing. Some of them returned, so I rejoined, but the whole game tilted so heavily into pay-to-win and I was suddenly too weak to do the missions I used to breeze through. But in my break, I developed a love for tabletop RPGs, so I started making one in an attempt to simulate my favorite TTRPG (City of Mist) and my favorite MMO (Mabi)... Mostly because I'm not bold enough to ask newer friends to try this game in its current state
As a 10+ year gamer i can relate to this, also to add about your rant i will say: Game needs more faster gatherings and faster part time jobs, ( gold directly in inventory like exp system and the total annihilation of dollbags from the game ), the gathering daily takes years to do and completely breaks your will to do stuff faster, melee skills need to be expanded for every melee weapon and focused on each trait of a type ( from little armament to the big ones ) like they did with the lance one, every skill needs to be rebalanced for 100% success in every thing you do if you reach Dan 3 or Rank 1, smithin or tailoring percentage for the set effects ( like bearna ) need to be FIXED to the maximum when attemptin ( you cant see set level effect 3 - 5 in 2024 like it was some gambling, total trash ), In game we have a lot of restrictions: - daily dung runs/reforges/rewards/basic player stats/ critical and so on - , this it cant even be considered a real MMORPG anymore, theres no real freedom, no real advancing/personalization for dedicated veteran people, its like a game with shackles. Every content should be increase rewards at least goldwise+items to +25% in each cap level difficulty based on comulative level skill ( yes i agree that Blaanid is too much OP for new people they dont reconize the real trials you need to do for advancing ). Game needs Re-do or re-play scenario button for real farmers ( every content wise ). But MAYBE we will have everything with Unreal Engine 5 WHO KNOWS (?) " wink wink " :^) Game doesnt need advanced graphics, it needs to not crash at GM events when people gather in one single channel, but again maybe UE5 will solve everything.
hey kodevu its sad to see ya leave for a while but its completely understandable when Nexon has made the end game not fun with its drop rates being 1% or less. Things like this is why i believe they revered the drop rate change in 1-19-24 after a 3 hour unscheduled maintance. Nexon does Manipulate the drop rates as shown by their 9m drop rate lawsuit for maple story. Your videos has always been good and i hope to see more when you do decide to come back.
23k hours and 11k USD is what i've put into mabinogi. I started in 2010, and i loved the game dearly until reforges came around. I could no longer use whatever i wanted and have fun. I continued to play for a while longer, always trying to keep up with each new cintent update only for something crazier and more powerful to be released. Skills stopped mattering as much when it came to power, and i was being forced into paying real money for almost every power increase. I got to the point where i gave up on multiple level 6-8k ttl level characters because i knew if i made a new one with a hero card or during AP events, i could gain skills that took a few monthes to grind for or have triple to hextuple the AP of a character i had spent years on. I now have a level 11k, that only has about 400 hours played on it, that has around 17k more AP than my character i had put 6k hours into.... and then another update was pushed, and i learned i could get even more if i started from scratch again. Ontop of this, i am now forced to try and buy powerful pets just to bypass the need for armor that is not only rare and hard to find, but costs 6-10m per piece. Weapons that have any meaningful power scaling cost up to hextuple that amo7nt just to craft, and can roll poorly, and i still need microtransactions to reforge them, and multiple versions or multiple like-powered weapons to even do the next bit of cintent which is growing steadily further and further away. I love mabinogi, but what am i supposed to even do at this point? I cant spend any mire real money, and every guild i've been in has disbanded at this point. There is nothing i can do to even play with the general populace in these dwindling servers. I miss mqbingoi, but it feels like there is no chance i could ever catch up at this point, despite my time and effort put into it.
As a vet of mabi since 2009 I can say I agree and disagree in what you've said. I think the early game is garbage, but I also don't think that getting to the mid game faster is a bad thing. I think they need to find a way to balance your early game adventure to get you into the mid game more smoothly, while also promoting growth in a way that is in the form of quests, dungeons, etc. The end game I agree with you as well whole heartedly, it's nothing but gambling and for those who disagree are huffing mad copium. (Fight me about it) Mabinogi end game is "OH wow I got to the end there are so many systems!" >Later "Oh-.. all of these systems are.. just rng gambling mechanics that they try to get you to spend money on to increase your chances of getting gear, or buying gacha for BiS gear (which is absolutely stupid), or even doing the end game content to have the worst drop rates in any game ever played so you struggle to get what you want on top of them having put limits on content as well. The mid game is where you'll have most fun, mabi as a whole has been changing drastically over the last two years and I hope to see it continue to grow and hopefully we'll even get a combat revamp along with UE5 (which we'll have in 3+ years). Mabinogi is a great game and it's why I love it and still play, but the problems with the game have made me take a step back too. I am glad you're taking the break you feel you need and hopefully we'll see you again soon Godvu. Cheers bud.
I think the pay2win in Mabinogi really depends on what each player truly considers endgame. For raiders and serious Fashionogi players I think it is fair to say Mabinogi is more pay2win as that kind of stuff is more difficult to do without having lots of free time to play or using money. But as a player that has never made my gear a priority you can definitely get all the through Gen 26 without paying a penny. So I don't think Mabinogi is pay2win in a way that seriously limits player progression or what content you can get access to as over 90% of all Mabinogi content can be accessed for free. The Auction House and being able to sell just about any cash shop item for gold including pets makes our gacha system situation a little better. I think it was a very smart move for Nexon to make the Style Tab completely free to all players recently. Players are strongly encouraged to spend money on the game but at least it is not forced and free players do have options. As for the game content itself there are steps they could and should take to balance things out better both for early and endgame players but overall I think the Blaanid tutorial is more positive than negative. Dungeons do need some serious rebalancing and it would be nice to have some form of Veteran Dungeon system added for Iria Dungeons and Castle Dungeons as they are often left out of any new Dungeon Updates.
I'm so glad to see someone else have issues with the progression that Blaanid brought into the game, it is the sole reason i quit.... I typically play other games and meet others and often when i swap back to Mabinogi others typically "Try" the game... Blaanid killed any hyped i could build for the game, it Information dumped players and Power leveled them so much they just quit, I've complained about it so much yet the players are so blinded by it because they can power level alts and believe its "Good" players dont have to do old content.... but thats where the players learn and love the game.... They dont need to speed run to get to the same caliber as someone who has played it for 10+ years. Great video!
I played Mabi off and on since Open Beta, and I left before a lot of those "endgame" stuff (don't even recognize most of them). I simply enjoyed my time casually, and when I got to my "endgame" it was simply getting my melee swords forged, placing some good enchants on them, and (after many battles) eventually 'retiring' by spending my later years as a merchant (both to make profit and to enjoy my fashionogi). I did return very briefly less than a year ago, just to check things out, and saw there was those Blaanid quests and... Yeah; Within just a few days of playing through some of her questline, I not only got really powerful gear, I also was given enough exp/levels that ended up making my friend (who was with me starting a new character) surpass my main in terms of total max levels, just cause of how much she gives you. -------------- I guess Blaanid is nice for returning players or for vets wanting to make a fresh character and not want to spend as much time early game, but holy heck does she power you through things that (I feel) took me weeks to get through. I do hope with the Unreal engine update, they make changes so that players both new and old can get to better enjoy the experience and journey through the games content and story. Lots of mmo's forget that these days and just try to rush you to the newest/endgame content, rather than letting people experience and enjoy the journey to the later content.
I jumped ship from Mabinogi years ago. Just wasn't the same game after gacha look over the store. Same fate that killed PangYa for me as well. Let me just buy stuff directly please. Stop making it Gacha. It's sad when I used to craft arrows/potions for gold. But Gacha award potion/arrows were tradable... every time they held an event with gacha awards that included such things for months my source of income was dead. I started playing FF14 last year though and it's basically a vastly superior Mabinogi. Just doesn't have the unique combat Mabinogi had. But FF14 you get to stylize your character just like in Mabinogi fashion is a big thing. One character can learn all the classes again, just like Mabinogi. Even the Bard as a similar music system so you can play any music you want/make. It's basically a better Mabinogi. Which I'm glad FF14 exist now.
I've just started playing a week ago myself, and so far I have been having quite a bit of fun, personally especially because of blaanid as well. I don't particularly care about reaching endgame myself though, just enjoying the ride so far.
I stopped playing mabi 14 years ago. My friends keep me updated and ask me to come back all the time. Alot has changed since my days but 1 thing that is still the same is nexon wants you to spend money on everything. Maybe 1 day i will find another game as goof as this one
I feel the exact same about mabinogi. Rng is fine, but mabinogi's rates are so abysmal that it feels really disrespectful of my time and energy put in. I have a hard time recommending the game to anyone new because of it even though I love this game and keep coming back to it.
Honestly just came back after hearing the Eternity Project and another friend showing off their Cosplay. At one hand, it's crazy how far the Blaanid gears can take you. But in the other hand, after reading the story (G9-G18 then the FInale of G21)- Thankful for it. It's... not very engaging or motivating to struggle through the same and pointless Shadow Mission for the 20th time just to talk to an NPC or do anything. Thanks for the honesty and fresh video contents, have a good retirement (and if you do return, a happy one.)
then they should adjust the balance of it. You got these stories that are basically the reason why you play mabinogi. It's not hard to rebalance things to appropriate levels. They can also use the Blaanid tutorial stuff to guide you through the story. And if they need to rewrite the story a bit to make it more engaging they should. It doesn't feel good to be handed rank 1 in everything basically.. and is not teaching the player on how to actually play the game. Like at this point I forgot how to enhance weapons since I was taught that day 1.
You're 100% right about the early game being trash, but they don't care. They want to speed up newbies to the "good" part of the game, even after the unity update gives all those old zones a fresh coat of paint, I can only imagine it'll still feel like just as hollow of an experience.
newbies will quit before they even get to the good part cause 1 shotting everything doesn't feel great. It makes the game boring and even BEFORE you start the story... PSO2NGS has this exact problem game is way too easy which doesn't retain players. You want that medium difficutly to hard depending on where you want people to be at.
W take. Same reason I quit. The longer you play the more you see that the game is just a cash grab disguised as a fantasy mmo. Sucks cause the game holds a lot of nice memories. May come back when unreal engine comes out.
i think this is a mature decision and all good things must come to an end. the graphics update will pul me back in for a few months... but the rng has to change or the p2w has to change. if p2w aspects were made 1/100 current costs nexon would likely make MORE money... or if rng was 100x the playerbase would flourish... which would also make them more money. and all that would captivate you and i to play mabinogi
Honestly, I tried hard to find reasons to disagree with you but all I can truly say, is, "Fair". I miss the days when Mabi wasn't Easynogi. When having Rank 1 Blacksmithing, Weaving, Tailoring etc actually meant something, when your total level was earned.
@@TheFreelancer131 it wasn’t though. Especially if you had the resources to get FH and transformation. You was straight. Save up for dual hooked cutlass or get a claymore spirit weapon and you’d be good for a couple of months or until the durability Diminished to 1 or a tiger paw from an event 😭 they had the occasional events that gave you a mount and back then when they had server issues there was a few occasions they gave all players 14k nx cash back when it was called nx cash. Shit was great. As far as the gachapons my sisters that played would play for fashionogi and traded their way into making millions. Not a cent spent because we were all like 13-15 yrs old at the time. Good fricken times man. Maybe it was pay to win but the game was so rich and entertaining non of that was a problem until several years down the line. Now since everything is sped up the p2w hits hard as hell. Mabinogi pre reforges was the golden years👌
@@grey6063 Yeah your still not anywhere near what I was on about. But about what "your" talking about Yes Mabi Absolutely had P2W mechanic's early on I guess you didn't play when you HAD to have VIP just to do the Gen quests. I played from word get go and Remember those times. And I'm sorry but rather you want to admit it or not Forcing someone to Pay for VIP just to get one of the games transformations. Yeah that's 100% P2W no matter how your willing to rationalize it. FH didn't release tell the Iria content dropped and by then VIP for gen's was dropped so sorry but your way off base. Not to mention Bags were not a common as now. Inv Space was at a premium And there was no dress shop so alot of people bought pets to compensate for that. I will at least Concede to the fact that Back then Mabi dropped less Outfit Gacha's and there model was more into Char cards which YOU 100% ABSALUTLY HAD TO BUY TO REBIRTH. That by definition is P2W
@@TheFreelancer131 it’s nothing to admit. It’s opinion tbh. I remember vip and I never ever had it. Yes fh did come out after iria was released but that’s still early mabinogi. I started playing soon before iria released so that was my experience. Inv space was hell but I managed. At the time I was heavy into pvp and evg as well and I never had a problem unless it was against a mage who had god tier magic or a cc wand. Besides that dueling “pro” players and completing dungeons/generations was easy as long as you had the right combos. Elves could hide and use mirage missile plus pre combat update elf archery was godly. The game was fair in my eyes. I remember dueling in dunbarton and being hot shit for a little because I’d publicly duel pros and win a lot of the times or come very close to beating them unless there was a huge damage gap. My characters were like lvl 50 total at the time. But that’s just my experience like I said.
ya the balanid is nice if you have already beat the game and wanna power a alt or different race or char to semi end game in a month or two but feels unfair to the majority of older players who spent years grinding to get to that point i had a lot of friends quit because of it balanid is a good band aid to the bigger problem of bigger numbers go burr and like 15+ years worth of content and story hopefully they fix it in the unreal 5 version of mabi. i like combat systems that scale to the player like borderlans3 i think it was. u can be max lvl in borderlands and join your new friend and the same enemy will be scaled so u see it as lvl 40 and they see it as lvl 4 and both of u can damage it and your not just 1 hit killing every thing and making it boring you get the feeling of progression and getting stronger as well as playing together and at the same speed with friends and new people
beat the fo-mo (fear of missing out) ignore all the afk events and power events that are like oh no if you miss out on this u will be week and less powerful... burn out is good and normal take a break try new games theirs so many free and cheap game out their to explore. and when you feel like it and theirs enuf new content and stuff come back and go thru it. and ya over the years i mostly stayed away from the endgame but year before this one was the year i pushed hard for endgame spent a whole year trying to find a single cracken heart and never got a drop i literley built a ruin staff and in that year and culdent get a cracken heart to drop with 6+ months of play time and then the dynamic drop rate scam patent was reveled showing how they lower drop rates to 0% and killed my drive to play to the point i got rid of my ruin staff. one day ill come back i still love mabi and the community but never going for end game agian and I'm gonna tell every one i see about dynamic drop rates until they release the in game drop rates so they can be tested and know im not wasting a year of my life looking for a 0% drop
The idea of spending time and energy with less than a 1% chance for a reward is insane to me, that's why I stopped taking this game seriously and just open it for a quick time waste and uninstalled it when the dreadful feelings come back. Yes, It's easier to skip the early game but for what? To jump in an insanely girndy mid-game to an awful end game, because let's be honest all skills can be trained easily the only hard-to-train skill is the pet bead thing which the real struggle of it is gold to buy the beads and gold is a big part of the major awful grind of this game. I really don't care about the future of Mabi as their mentality never really changed but I really hope people appreciate their time and reconsider where and what to spend it on.
I think the RNG "gambling" reforges and dungeon drop, echostone and maybe erg and special upgrade are a good trait for the game to have. It gives the game a purpose to play and combine variety of effects and or incentives for trade market. The big issue is really the progression of the game, the process in which to get erg is extremely time consuming making your time spent on the game perhaps fruitless at times and very low value to your time trade off. The progression in the low tier bracket also is a problem as everything is'nt up to par for the blanid introduction. A lot of things are out dated and are still in the game, making alot of it pointless to do or not worth doing at all. The game been pushing for solo content lately and the game been getting more and more lonely. Game Strategy is currently P2P with the locked extra equipment and combo cards. The current strategy Mabinogi is in is really way too fast and require low ping and high dps to fully ultizle the solo content its been pushing. There are currently low updates on new combats and arcana as i would suspect they're pouring heavy effort toward project enterity instead of the current game. I really hope the new project won't be a new game but i do wish the new graphic and all would change the current play style back to group teaming game in the future.
I am someone with both strong love and hatred to this game. I love how the game functions in combat and some overall fun stuff you can do in the game, however... The p2w side and all these percentage systems, is something i deeply hate about the game. I have fallen into the term of "sunk cost fallacy", i wish i could stop playing the game, but i can't really let go after so much i have put into it, and i personally even struggle IRL to just manage because of this damn game. Really hope the devs move on from their current sales tactic and all awful percentage systems to something much better at some point... One of my recent expriences has been really draining me dry, i accidentally overwrote an reforge on my staff, then trying to get it back has been draining over 100m already while making money has been proving very difficult, even selling my own things to get the gold, i feel like this game in nutshell takes away more than it gives...
I quit recently and permanently after playing since 2011 with different accounts because the game got too boring and too grindy once you hit endgame. There wasn't much else to do in mid game and early game content.
I dislike reforges the moment they released them and yeah, now that you can get some in game with out nx it helps a lot, but the limit on how many you get is so bad. If you could lock lines you want to keep it would be better of a system. But Because it was a pay to win mechanic from the start it really spoiled the game. I don't mind that Blainaid gives you total levels. Her problem is she AUTO trains skills and AUTO GRANTS skills. They made training easier which is nice but they made it TOO easy.
Should you be rank 1 in everything by the end of your first week of playing? This is without the auto trains btw... They made skills too easy to get and make you too powerful too quickly.
I was thinking trying Mabinogi, But then I remembered this game owned by Nexon, After watching your video It’s even more clear now.. seems like a waste of time for a new players. Makes me wonder if there is any new players at all or basically this game will die and burn on hardcore players.
Bro is speaking facts about the end-game gambling. Hard to defend this dog shit ass game when Nexon keeps pushing more and more gambling. Plus you didnt even mention how they will sometimes make gacha within the gacha by giving currency for each gacha you buy. 4D level gambling
Its funny how half of the comments are about how mabi was better when it was harder but I disagree, I think Mabi now with arcana is more fun than its ever been.
Just adding the caveat that for me I don’t play games for difficulty, I play for lore and just to have fun and chill. Back in the day I used to just afk all day and just do events cause everything else was too hard for my brain. Lol
problem you aren't retaining players cause of difficulty. No one likes an easy pass. Look at PSO2 and why that game died really fast after NGS came out. The game got boring causes it got too easy and they didn't release enough content to even maintain it. Base pso2 time was literally a good time other than them handing out gear to new players it was actually fun to play cause you couldn't 1 shot the bosses solo and have to do the mechanics.
Mabinogi was better during g9-g12. Before Genesis combat. The system and gear bloat, ESPECIALLY with RNG, and with over-the-top skillsets they add that more or less dominate your character rather than let it develop into something kind of unique on its own (kind of like Archeage's class system) is bad. It was my favorite game for almost 8 years, and when they added Girgashiy shit I pretty much had enough. You could tell they were shifting their meta away from skill being a viable alternative to paying them for shit when they released the Crystal Reindeer and removed Windmill's i-frames. Spamming exploding pets became a massive meta in its own right, as well as having reforged shit with little to no alternative to obtain them without paying in any reasonable amount. This all says nothing from all the other facets of gambling, like you're saying,, that they add. As well as every system that includes subsystems for "paying to unlock this thing you can now also pay for." It's really a shame, but to put it bluntly, devCat or whoever is not developing Mabinogi, they're developing a cash shop, and the cash shop is developing Mabinogi. The game revolves around it entirely, in the worst way possible. It was ALWAYS a little pay to win. Which, as far as I'm concerned? That's fine. You add some stuff to counteract people who work for a living, who don't have time to play as much but as a result have a little money to spend on the game as opposed to people who play constantly, every day, like kids in high school. That's where paying for rebirths came in. They removed that facet of playing the game and added an cash vortex for you to dump your money into interacting with virtually everything the game has to offer.
Instead of bringing another character to grow, why not adopt me as a project to grow stronger? :3. Im a returning player and i Just subscrebe to your Channel and im Sad that im late, but i understand How important to give a time in mabinogi is lol, like i sayd i Just returned
Well all I have to say is... Bad take :o Like I don't mind the power leveling to max level I'm GLAD it was there. I (and many others) don't care about stuff no one runs. Literally why would give a shit about doing a crappy alby normal if there is literally NO OTHER PLAYERS TO DO IT. And even if I get other players they are all 100k+ cumulative levels and 1 shot everything without even allowing me to do anything? What you don't seem to realize is that... That is just how MMOs are, XIV is like that, WoW is like that, Guild Wars 2 is like that. People move on and that is fine, you will never be able to encapsulate every single moment in time where an MMO is great. MMO's move on so does the community and I'm glad I could at least catch up to people in a timely manner without having to spend the next 10 years waiting of F-ing weekly rebirths. Also counter to what you're saying I'm enjoying the end game. The stupid grind to get best weapons and the 1% stupid things, y'know what helps? Doing with friends! Maybe yo should consider hear the words from a very famous award winning game producer 'I don't you to keep playing my game indefinitely, take a break and come back to it when you feel like it.' If anything your video didn't touch on the ACTUAL problems of mabinogi. Every single stupid little QoL things that players have to do constantly deal daily like: Displacement due to lag, insta spawning monster rooms, game balance is all over the place to the point where the damage you take is extremely binary you either get 1 shot or monsters deal close to 0 damage to you, overly stupidly arbitrary 0.01% rolls for upgrades (I guess this one you mentioned, fair), broken UI elements, lack of Arcana for other combat skills, and so on... Mabinogi player base is small not because of the powerleveling or gatcha mechanics (many MMOs are successful with those, even if I agree with you that gatcha is garbage) what makes Mabinogi a crap forgotten game is that it doesnt even get a friggin' movement right Try and ever think in getting close to a wall in the game and your character just stops moving for no absolute reason, Using spells make my character attempt melee sometimes, some spells that are ground target sometimes target enemies on the corner of the screen. THIS is why no one outside of mabinogi doesnt want to give a chance to this game, the game just plays awfully a lot of times.
BTW Lets not forget how piece of garbage the leveling system in mabinogi is! I remember trying to convince a friend to play this game and they asked me 'so how do you level up?' Imagine their response when I had to explain 'Oh you get levels, then you rebirth, then you level up skills, but that is not enough you also have to train your alban knights, put totems on your inventory, put totems on your house, level up a different class through arcana, complete the story so you can get techs, level up said techs with convoluted different methods, oh btw dont forget your stupid echostones or your stardust ah yes talking about that you also need transformations...' See how when you say all of that is very overwhelming and stupid for a new player? I Know ppl that have been playing this game for 10+ years and they STILL don't know how the game works or how to make themselves stronger. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PLAY 10 YEARS OF A GAME TO UNDERSTAND IT.
The game is too easy and I literally quit after 1 week of maxing everything out. There is no challenge why should I keep playing the game so that I eventually come to a challenge? There's a reason why maplestory is getting popular again. its cause they actually balance their gameplay still The difficulty is still there in the medium while playing fresh. Like Blaanid just makes it way too easy. They really should put Blaanid with the story quests. There is literally no point of her being seperated out then tell you ok you beat the tutorial now do the story. Instead they should of combine the story with her. giving you the appropriate tutorials with the appropriate power ups to be able to do the story but have a medium difficulty with it.
tbh starting mabinogi fresh the game isn't in a good place... the Blaanid tutorial is all over the place and their choice of forcing you to go all over the place was a terrible choice. (I do like the story behind the character though its very cute and you can tell the dev cares about the character ideals.) They really need to rework it so you are doing the story with Blaanid and give u the appropriate power for the story line you are one. yes they can teach you x y and z BUT they need to teach you that stuff WHILE in appropriate areas. Why give me everything at the start then tell me to do the story (which was the original reason why you paid any money into the game in the first place). Like I shouldn't be rank 1 in everything before I even start the story quests. They also need to rework the skills and how to level them as well. Right now they are either too easy to lvl them and they have continuity problems. Specifically the music side. How am I suppose to use a buff skill at Rank F music when the earliest you can get that is Rank D? They need to look through all their poorly made systems fix them all and make the guided path better. They really need to take a page out of maplestory and guide you through the areas u should be at. yes they power level u up to 200 and now up to 260 BUT that takes about 1 month. Mabinogi takes about 1 week... If they are smart they'd do a "reboot" server where its not P2W (specifically on the gambling stuff offering it for free, maybe selling outfits for gold would be fine.) just like maplestory has. Mabinogi should be a fashion MMO they can compete against PSO2 very easily maybe with the unreal 5 update they can do emotes and other things that they couldn't do in the original engine and make money that way instead of the gambling. Hopefully with the Eternity update They rework a lot of the systems. Like do people even do the talking to NPC stuff anymore if they just hand you all the skills basically? Like at this point as a new play I kinda don't even want to log in anymore and I only played the game for 1 week... Great retention game. I do hope the game improves but its obvious the devs are fixing a lot of holes they should've fixed a long time ago.
The truest fans will criticize the game for its faults, not ignore them 🥲 I grew up on Mabi JP so I had like no friends on NA and it just made me sad because everyone was just crazy power-boosted compared to how early Mabinogi was like😭 I got all my skills to r1 and and even the important Dans and I just kind of lost interest after getting classes maxed out 😢 Nexon NA is greedy
I left when Mabinogi was called Mabinogi Alchemist.
damn, that's when I started lol. the way the game is though, you don't "quit", you just leave for a while and eventually come back, that's literally the milletian lore.
hi KodeVu, I feel you! My journey in Mabinogi has stopped ever since this May... I hope we come back again!!
Thanks.
8 years and hiatus doesn't work together man you are not a real one!!!!!!
Fake
Fake
I am on a 8 year hiatus due to poor health. I will come back to it when project eternity comes out.
i agree i dislike the 1% to get good at the game. but yea i also keep around to see what come next and enhoy the life in erin, will miss u kovu hope see u soon ovo
Thank you for the work you put and the passion you have for Mabinogi, I do hope to see you return one day, I'm most defiantly not going unless its ripped from me, so feel free to say Hi.
end of a era
I feel ya Kode, sometimes it is VERY HARD to keep on playing on a daily based game that doesn't feel rewarding.
Mostly because I'm not bold enough to ask newer friends to try this game in its current state
Welcome to mabinogi cycle, I started playing in 2008 play a ton, left then quit 3 years later cam back for 4 years. Rinse and repeate.
But MAYBE we will have everything with Unreal Engine 5 WHO KNOWS (?) " wink wink " :^)
Game doesnt need advanced graphics, it needs to not crash at GM events when people gather in one single channel, but again maybe UE5 will solve everything.
To your point, the early game being the way it is made it hard for me to stick to mabi as a new player.
I'm Mysic+Alexina
I'm gonna miss your video's.
You are 100% bang on with the gambling.
Know why it's called Gotcha?
Cos they Gotcha money.
hey kodevu its sad to see ya leave for a while but its completely understandable when Nexon has made the end game not fun with its drop rates being 1% or less.
Relatable mate :3
Im again on a semi hiatus. Still up for like 10 minutes per day for now for that outfit in Master Plan lmaooo.
I love mabinogi and I wish this lovely game change better and better too. hope to see you some day when you back :)
My guild be doing black combo card every day. I'll regret this too.
(Fight me about it) Mabinogi end game is "OH wow I got to the end there are so many systems!"
>Later
"Oh-.. all of these systems are.. just rng gambling mechanics that they try to get you to spend money on to increase your chances of getting gear, or buying gacha for BiS gear (which is absolutely stupid), or even doing the end game content to have the worst drop rates in any game ever played so you struggle to get what you want on top of them having put limits on content as well.
--------------
I guess Blaanid is nice for returning players or for vets wanting to make a fresh character and not want to spend as much time early game, but holy heck does she power you through things that (I feel) took me weeks to get through.
Man you should have played Archeage alpha. It beats all those games by the long shot...
I've just started playing a week ago myself, and so far I have been having quite a bit of fun, personally especially because of blaanid as well. I don't particularly care about reaching endgame myself though, just enjoying the ride so far.
The problem is Nexon. A lot of good games run by Nexon turn to shit really quick with all the gacha and gambling microtransactions
Like at this point I forgot how to enhance weapons since I was taught that day 1.
im also not playing mabi until ETERNITY comes out.
finally you wake
Mabinogi is forever the best mmo I ever played but it's crashing
You're 100% right about the early game being trash, but they don't care. They want to speed up newbies to the "good" part of the game, even after the unity update gives all those old zones a fresh coat of paint, I can only imagine it'll still feel like just as hollow of an experience.
newbies will quit before they even get to the good part cause 1 shotting everything doesn't feel great. It makes the game boring and even BEFORE you start the story... PSO2NGS has this exact problem game is way too easy which doesn't retain players. You want that medium difficutly to hard depending on where you want people to be at.
WHY WOULD YOU QUIIIIIIIIIIT THIS GAME NEEDS EVERYONE IT CAN GET!!!!!!!!! I LOVE MABINOGI! EDIT: GAMBA!
When having Rank 1 Blacksmithing, Weaving, Tailoring etc actually meant something, when your total level was earned.
there is really nothing else to do other than gambling once you get the tutorial done
So weird to hear someone complaining about Mabi's P2W in 2024 when I harped about it for a long time in 2009 and everyone told me to shut up XD
Because back then it wasn’t p2w you could easily grind to end game
@@grey6063 Yeah I defiantly Do not agree. But more then that. It doesn't have anything to do with what I said lol
But that’s just my experience like I said.
ya the balanid is nice if you have already beat the game and wanna power a alt or different race or char to semi end game in a month or two but feels unfair to the majority of older players who spent years grinding to get to that point i had a lot of friends quit because of it balanid is a good band aid to the bigger problem of bigger numbers go burr and like 15+ years worth of content and story hopefully they fix it in the unreal 5 version of mabi. i like combat systems that scale to the player like borderlans3 i think it was. u can be max lvl in borderlands and join your new friend and the same enemy will be scaled so u see it as lvl 40 and they see it as lvl 4 and both of u can damage it and your not just 1 hit killing every thing and making it boring you get the feeling of progression and getting stronger as well as playing together and at the same speed with friends and new people
You've truly made it to the end game, congratulations!!! *clap clap*
beat the fo-mo (fear of missing out) ignore all the afk events and power events that are like oh no if you miss out on this u will be week and less powerful... burn out is good and normal take a break try new games theirs so many free and cheap game out their to explore. and when you feel like it and theirs enuf new content and stuff come back and go thru it. and ya over the years i mostly stayed away from the endgame but year before this one was the year i pushed hard for endgame spent a whole year trying to find a single cracken heart and never got a drop i literley built a ruin staff and in that year and culdent get a cracken heart to drop with 6+ months of play time and then the dynamic drop rate scam patent was reveled showing how they lower drop rates to 0% and killed my drive to play to the point i got rid of my ruin staff. one day ill come back i still love mabi and the community but never going for end game agian and I'm gonna tell every one i see about dynamic drop rates until they release the in game drop rates so they can be tested and know im not wasting a year of my life looking for a 0% drop
Did they make the riding mounts out the store?
as a super weak old player this makes me sad.
One of my recent expriences has been really draining me dry, i accidentally overwrote an reforge on my staff, then trying to get it back has been draining over 100m already while making money has been proving very difficult, even selling my own things to get the gold, i feel like this game in nutshell takes away more than it gives...

don't quit. its time to destroy Nexon and Mabinogi
Mabi just destroyed EU servers, without transfers. This made a big player made to quit.
I quit recently and permanently after playing since 2011 with different accounts because the game got too boring and too grindy once you hit endgame. There wasn't much else to do in mid game and early game content.
no don't leave
Makes me wonder if there is any new players at all or basically this game will die and burn on hardcore players.
whats funny is maplestory is doing way better now with the reboot servers. They really need to implement a significant amount of changes
They removed that facet of playing the game and added an cash vortex for you to dump your money into interacting with virtually everything the game has to offer.
mabinogi getting moved to unreal engine 5
frfr
Instead of bringing another character to grow, why not adopt me as a project to grow stronger? :3.
Im a returning player and i Just subscrebe to your Channel and im Sad that im late, but i understand How important to give a time in mabinogi is lol, like i sayd i Just returned

Well all I have to say is...
Bad take :o
Like I don't mind the power leveling to max level I'm GLAD it was there. Maybe yo should consider hear the words from a very famous award winning game producer 'I don't you to keep playing my game indefinitely, take a break and come back to it when you feel like it.'
If anything your video didn't touch on the ACTUAL problems of mabinogi.
