So grateful for this content! As a Sydney based Urban Planning and Heritage student, I'm so in awe of how beautifully you've captured the issues facing so many regional towns in Aus - and honestly - genuinely surprised someone took interest! We here suffer from a 'cultural cringe' and its content like this that helps us overcome it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Hi Ellie - it's comments like this that make it worth making our films! We are so chuffed it struck a chord with you and capturing regional towns in an honest yet respectful way is totally what we were going for. I actually first got involved in the project as I was working on the Urban Design/Placemaking side of The Foundations and I was captivated both by the site and the vision of the client, so decided to make a film about it. Thanks for watching and please feel free to share - we really do want to get the story of this town more widely known. Bryony
Thanks Kirsty !! And you're so right - it's a tale of people who have endured times of decline and hardship but who have stuck with it and pulled through.
Hey Junior! So glad you liked it and cheers for the nod to the production vale too, it often means our videos take ages to make but we think it pays off in the end :)
3:13 The photo shown is actually of the Ffyansford Cement which was operated by the same company the operated the plant at Portland (the Commonwealth Portland Cement Company)

This has been home for me the last three years. A wonderful place to live.
I'm am so delighted you found the film Danny. Sounds like you chose a great town to move to, Portland really does have heart.
What a beautiful film about a special town, with strong people who have the stamina to continue investing in the town's ongoing story.

Ah - thanks for spotting! Very cool to think of all the companies across the globe making cement and how different companies operated them. :)
