goddamn !
Yeah I got caught today. After watching this I assumed my 3 day card would finish at 10:30 am this morning. It didn't, only lasted 3 calendar days. Had to pay sn extra €5to get back to the airport.
@@TheRed-yj2xh it's really annoying, they way the pass is configured now it's a real trap. Wish they changed it.
I visited Madrid 3 weeks ago and after watching this video bought the tourist ticket on arrival in the late evening thinking we could use it the next day 😊 But the next morning the bus driver said our tourist ticket was expired and had to buy new one🙈
@@wfa-1 it's a pity you didn't read the massive warning we put right above your comment.
I want to thank you for your detailed videos with thorough explanations and illustrations. I found them to be a terrific help before my trip to Madrid in March.
Delighted to hear that, Connie, if you have any questions, do ask!
Thank you so much for explaining and showing how to buy a ticket...I just needed a reminder for manana...🎉
Excellent. Please make sure you read the first comment below the video.
hola! My husband and I are travelling to Madrid end of August. We are on our way to Buen Camino in early Sept. starting in Sarria. Watching your videos really help us on how to go about while staying 3 days in Madrid. Gracias,
Delighted to hear that, have a great trip! Un abrazo.
how was the camino. was it easy to get to saria from madrid.
@@rupert-j8f unfortunately, my husband had a medical emergency and we had to cancel. Planning again in 2025. Thanks for asking.
@@fbcveloso8446 ah ok. sarria is a long way from madrid you know. you can do the camino from madrid itself or from segovia (a hour away from madrid). madrid to segovia is very hilly but after segovia it is flat.
Thanks!!! Spending 4 weeks in Santa Pola, but travelling to Madrid by train for a few days too. This video was really helpful thank you!!! Viva Espana 🇪🇸
Great to hear that!
Hello Tony, Watch most if not all of your video - very helpful. I am going to be at Madrid on Sat. 11/4/2023 and plan to visit Segovia (after 12pm on 11/4 - 1/2 day). Any recommendations on how to get from Madrid to Segovia. It looks like very limited schedule for high speed train (faster) and more bus schedule (longer). Do you have any advice? Many Thanks.
Hi Tommy, you will find that information on the video we dedicated to the best day trips from Madrid here: ruclips.net/video/80L9bhy14fw/видео.html We also have a video on what to do in Segovia here ruclips.net/video/L9dLOVLoPU8/видео.html
Thank you! Your video really helped me understand how the Madrid tourist card works.
Excelent. Be aware that the tourist card is now only valid for natural days, as opposed to 24 hour periods. So it only makes sense to being using it at the start of the day.
Brilliant video. Thank you
Our pleasure! Don't forget to check the updated information on the first comment below the video.
Thanks for the info as usual. I have a question if you don't mind. I will be in Madrid for a whole week so I think the 7 days card will be my choice. I like to go places even for a coffee even if it's far away. My question is , I also like to do a day trip to Zaragoza by fast train. Do you have a company to recommend ? Morning 9 or 10 am start. Which company is inexpensive around that time schedule ? Thanks again for your very informative video. (thanks for your reply on Porto that I've asked before.)
Hi, you can travel on any of the four services available in Spain. Their prices are dynamic. You can see here all the videos we have published on the high-speed train in Spain ruclips.net/p/PLWH9E2sQGItpoRJvpBjuQYuKPRqYVOqY8
Thanks, Tony - another excellent video! When you say the tourist card includes "local trains", does that mean the Cercanías lines (C-1 through C-10)?
Hi, cercanías trains indeed, and only within the city of Madrid. Please be aware the Tourist Ticket now is based on calendar days and not 24-hour periods.
Thank you for your research and information to make this possible. We visited both Spain and Portugal. Easy to follow instructions. 😊.
Great to hear that, Ryan.
Thank you so much for this INFO's sir! :) I'll be there tom and stay in 3days! im searching for the budget ticket for 3days so thank you for this INFO! God bless sir! :)
Glad to be of help! Please pay attention to the warning on the first commentary below the video.
I love your videos very helpful. I'm checking your videos to plan our visit to Spain. I imagine the Tourist pass cannot be purchased online?
Thank you, Eleftheria. As far as we know, no, the Tourist pass cannot be purchased online.
Hiya
Thabks for such an informative video! We will be travelling to Madrid with our family in a few days amd things are making more sense now! We will also be having a day trip to Parque Warner Beach, which requires the c-3 train to the pinto stop and a bus on the La Veloz line. Is this included on the Zone A of the pass?
Thanks
Hi Aaisha, for the Parque Warner trip the pass valid for zone A won't do. You need the more expensive pass. Make sure you read the update on the first comment below the video.
Thank you so much for your informative video yet again! I have a quick question i will be staying my first week in madrid in the chamberi neighborhood do i need a zone A or zone T tourist card? I will be taking a day trip to Salamanca but im purchasing fast train ticket separately for that one, and as well for Toledo on another day i will purchase the fast train ticket to cut time. Should i get A or T? Gracias! Olé!
Hola Rina, for the Chamberí neighborhood you only need a Zone A ticket. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal gracias!
Thanks to this video we have visited Toledo very easily and affordable. Gracias Mr. Galvez! You are the best!
Delighted to hear that!
An important note: we bought 24hour tourist ticket. eventhough we bought it at 11:00 am, we could not use it next day until 11:00 am. Because it was expired at midnight. It was very disapointing for us. Be careful
@@burcina8050 thanks again. When we tested the pass before we recorded the video we were able to use it on the next day. Something must have changed. We have added a note on the fixed comment above.

Hello I wanted to confirm two things.!!
Can i use zone T card for travel from madrid - segovia - avila - madrid.
Also what all bus services can I use for above journey
Thank you in advance.
Hi, no, you cannot use the card for those destinations.
Hello
Thanks for the helpful videos.

👍🏻👏🏻
Hola! Thanks for informative videos. Is titulo turistico the same as the madrid city card? Thank you
Hi there, no, it's not the same. We haven't had the time to look at it in the detail, but there are some annoying things about it. In theory, the transport card included would allow you to use the airport metro for free. But you cannot purchase the Madrid City Card at the airport...
Thanks. Very helpful. We will spending 3 nights at the Acta Madfor (Principe Pio) and spend most of the time at the center of Madrid. What is the best way to travel from/to Airport/Hotel for group of 5?
Hi Mike, Acta Madfor is a lovely hotel, is not right in the centre but transport connections are very good. The airport train will take you directly to Príncipe Pío station. But being 5, I would either take a taxi (fixed fare of 30€) or a ridesharing service. See the options on this video: ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html
Hi Tony, thank you for another wonderful video. I have watched and followed all your videos for our 3 weeks trip in Spain and we are arriving in our final stop by train to Madrid in a couple of days. We are staying in the Vincci Capitol Hotel which I understand is in the centre of town. We are hoping to take the metro from Atocha to Sol, then do most of the local sightseeing on foot, then take a day trip to Toledo, and then take the metro or taxi to the airport. Is the 10 trips multi card the best for us? And do you know how much approximately is taxi to airport? Thank you so much in advance.
Hello there. The 10 trips multi card sounds like the best choice for you indeed, better than the Tourist Ticket. On this video you will find the cost of transportation from and to the airport, including by taxi: ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html All the best to you!
Hola, Tony - We love your videos! We just found out that when we are in Madrid that the metro 1 line will not be working in the direction of Valdecarros. We are staying not far from Sol, so we were wondering what your advise would be for getting to the Reina Sofia Museum and the Atocha Train station which are both on line 1. ¡Gracias!
Hola Marta. The closure of metro line 1 is a real pain. Take train C4 from Sol to Atocha.
Excellent video with useful information! All very well explained and didactic, as always. I LOVED it all 🤩
👏👏👏👏 Thank you, Yara!
Really helpful video. Quick question, if you buy a tourist ticket, do you still need to pay the airport extra charge on top or does the ticket already include that? Thanks
Thanks! The tourist ticket includes the airport surcharge.
Thanks much muchas gracias again Tony! another video that is really helpful for our family trip
Great to hear that, Danny, cheers!
A correction to what it is stated on the video: the tourist ticket is valid per natural day rather than per 24-hour periods. So if you start using a 2-day ticket at 8pm, it will only be valid until the end of the following day.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you for the follow up Tony. I did visit the link to the metromadrid website that you listed and saw that validity of the ticket not based on 24 hrs increment, but per calendar day instead.
Thank you for the video and info , Heading to Madrid tonight and definitely will try the card
Thanks Ahmed, be aware the card is now only valid for calendar days, so if you but it at the end of the day, one day of usage will be gone quickly.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you for that info , I just have a question, Is Tetuan neighbourhoods part of zone A of the metro?
yes, it is. Have a great trip!

Hello Jasper, good to see you around! Many thanks for your words! All the best!
Thank you for the informative videos. I am flying to Spain tomorrow. I am staying at Pullman Madrid Airport & Feria and plan to see Madrid, Avila, and Toledo. A 10-journey ticket probably doesn't work in my case, right?
Thank you! The 10-journey ticket is only valid for trips within Madrid, it won't take you to Ávila or Toledo. It's a good ticket to move around the city.
Awesome videos! Does this tourist pass include the hop on/off tour buses in Madrid? Thank you!
Don't mention it! No, the tourist pass does not include the hop-on hop-off buses. All the best!
Hi Tony, What's the best way to purchase fares for the interurban buses? For example route 337 to Chinchon
As we only use those buses very occasionally, we always buy the ticket from the driver the moment we board the bus.
Very helpful video. Thank you. I will be arriving at Madrid Airport on a Thursday evening and then staying in Getafe until Monday. I had initially planned to get the 5 day pass so very pleased to see that the pass is valid per 24 hours as apposed to days. Saved me some cash 😀. Madrid has to have the most complex public transport system I have came across so far.
Thank you. A word of warning, we put it on the first fixed comment but not everyone gets to see it: the Tourist Ticket is now valid per calendar day and not per 24-hour period.
Getafe is not in Madrid, so you should probably get the more expensive Tourist Ticket. You need to work out whether it's a good choice for you. Also, don't know whether you have the option of choosing a different location for your accommodation, to us, Getafe is definitely a no-no, too far from the centre of Madrid, you will lose valuable time on a daily basis.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Hi thank you for the response, that's a shame they have changed it to calendar day 😫. I am basing myself in Getafe due to the nature of my trip (going to football games nearer that area, Leganes Fuenlabrada etc) also as a solo traveller the hotels in Madrid centre are just far too expensive. So makes more sense to get the more expensive tourist card and save on hotels for me.
We feel we always have to warn our followers when they choose to stay far from the centre of Madrid. But in your specific case, your choice makes perfect sense. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks again for this video. The pass covering the whole transport network was brilliant for my stay in Getafe. It was only 20 mins to Madrid centre on the Cercanías trains and also used it to travel to Majadahonda (then using busses there) and to Leganes. I would say for travellers on a budget Getafe is actually not bad for a base to explore Madrid in my opinion
@@faughnan1 thank you for sharing your experience. Great to hear you had a positive experience!
Hi Tony, thanks for helpful video!!!
I will be arriving at Madrid Airport on 3 weeks.
The Tourist Ticket, is now valid per calendar day OR per 24-hour period ?
Hi Giannis, unfortunately, the Tourist Ticket is only valid per calendar day so unless you arrive in Madrid in the morning or plan on using the airport metro, it's not such a good investment for the day of your arrival.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you very much Tony, for the advice.
Very helpful thank you

Thanks for the informative videos Tony, I have been advised to purchase the Tarjeta Dorada, when I visit in April, is this still in use? how does it vary to the Tarjeta Multi?
Many thanks
John
Hi John, the Tarjeta Dorada is a discount card for train travel on Renfe trains around Spain. In our opinion, it's not worth the price you pay for it. Tarjeta Multi is a card for the local transport of Madrid. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you

Hello, thank you for making this video! Very helpful! I still have a question though: The place i'm gonna be in is near the Station San Cristobal Industrial. But I don't know if i need to buy a turistico ticket zone A or T... I'm staying for 4 days in Madrid.
What would you recommend? thank you in advance!
Hi Julie, we imagine you have chosen that location because you are going to Madrid for work reasons, for tourism it is a terrible location. See the series of mistakes you should avoid making in Madrid: ruclips.net/video/lTu3jLq0gPk/видео.html . Zone A should cover San Cristóbal. All the best!
Your videos are super amazing! I learned quite a lot from your videos. Gracias! I have a question. When my 2-day pass expired, can I top up "single travel" to this expired 2-day pass? So I can keep using this "expired" 2-day pass.
Hi Gordon, first of all, you should be aware the the Madrid Tourist Ticket is valid per natural day rather than per 24 hour period. Once you use up the Tourist Ticket, the Multi Card, the support where you load it, is yours to keep and, should you choose to, to load new tickets on it. All the best.
Hi Tony, thanks for the informative video. It’s really helpful. I’m travelling soon to Madrid and am a little confused as which would be the best budget option.
I am staying for 2 nights in Madrid and have my flight on 3rd day morning and would want to use public transportation. On the second day, I’m visiting La Rozas village. Can you please suggest
Hi Devangana, if budget is an issue, buy a Metrobus 10 viajes, a ticket that entitles you to 10 trips on buses or the metro. You will have to buy a specific ticket to go to Las Rozas. All the best.
Thank you for the videos! Very helpful! I'm gonna be in Madrid soon! Could you help me with what's the easiest way to get to "Puerta de Toledo" or "Embajadores" from the airport by metro?
Thank you! 😌
Hi George, by metro you would have to take three different lines. The airport train takes you directly to Pirámides, between Puerta de Toledo and Embajadores. See the details here: ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html
hello, when taking the bus in Madrid shall we validate/tap the tourist card when boarding and leaving the bus or just when boarding and tapping it once only. thanks!
Hello, just the one time when boarding the bus.
Hola, I’ve also heard of the Madrid Pass which allows one to visit the Prado & Reina Sofia skipping the line to buy entrance ticket. Is that the same thing as the titular turistico? Obrigada,
Hi, first of all, if you have watched the video you will have seen the Tourist Ticket is not an attraction pass. In the case of the Madrid Pass, you will need to do your maths to see whether the pass pays off or not.
Gracias Tony! Another very informational video!!! What are your thoughts on Hop on hop off buss in Madrid (and Barcelona). Won't be able to walk a lot and it seems you can stop and visit things and then get on again.... Staying at Calle de Echegaray, 1 in Madrid so thinking if we do hop on hop off may be just purchasing one ticket to get from airport to hotel or would I need two since I would have to take the bus from Nuevos Ministerios after Pink 8?
Hi Edgard, we don't have a video on the topic for Madrid but check out our video on the tourist bus in Barcelona: ruclips.net/video/SV-yIyjqRCo/видео.html
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal helpful as usual...Thank you... going to Calle de Echegaray, 1...From MAD airport do we need one ticket for pink line to Nuevos Ministerios and bus or two tickets separate one for Metro and one for bus? Does it make sense to take the train C1 to Atocha and then bus close to our address? Thanks so much in advance!
@@edgarmiraku5715 hi Edgar, we have a specific video for the transport options from Madrid airport here ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html You cannot board Madrid buses with luggage (the only exception being the ones leaving from the airport. Hi, if I'm over 26 and coming to Madrid for a few days. How is it recommended to get around by public transport and how can the costs of this be reduced?
Buy a Metrobus 10 viajes, which allows for 10 trips on either buses or metro.
Coming back to this video again after I had more idea about possible day trips was very helpful. The Zone T pass will get you by bus to Toledo or Aranjuez, but is the Cercanias train to Aranjuez also covered? Also, what about El Escorial? It seems that it's on the Cercanias network too, so will a Zone T pass get me to El Escorial?
If you take a Cercanías train, you will be covered. But if you take a middle distance train you might not be covered. Our advice, ask for clarification at the transport information desk at T4 when you arrive at the airport. We don't want to give you the wrong information. Also, be aware the pass is now valid per calendar day and not per 24 hour period.
Yes I understand just the Cercanias. But also the bus (and thank you for your explanation why the bus can be better for El Escorial). I’m not sure the tourist pass will be worth it for me but it’s good to take day trips into account.
@@orfeocookie it usually works out cheaper to pay for the transport, unless you are going to embark on a mad rush of day trips on the same day, something we are against.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal that is not remotely what I'm suggesting as my intention.
@@orfeocookie nor did we imply that.
My wife and I will visit Spain between 23 May and 9 June 2023. During this trip we want to travel by train from Seville to Ronda, and then on to Granada. Are there any trains travelling between these cities?

Hi Tony, thanks for the helpful videos. I'm a bit unsure if the tourist pass includes the renfe airport train. We are arrive early around 5h00am so it might be useful to get pass right away. We need to get to atocha station to change trains to the c3 line going to san Christobal industrial
Hi Colette, judging by the information provided on the official website, the ticket is valid on local trains too.
We are 2 travelers. Day 1 morning from sol to atocha and evening atocha to sol. Day 2 morning sol to Atocha. Total 6. Can we load 6 on 1 card and share it over the 2 days?
In you case, the Tourist Ticket makes no sense at all. The best deal for you right now is a Metrobus 10 viajes, including 10 trips on the metro and the buses (bear in mind you can only board the buses with cabin luggage).
Well I believed what this video said about these passes expiring at exactly the same time you bought it on the day of expiry. So I bought a 48 hour pass at 16.30 on 16 May 2023 expecting it to expire at 16.30 on 18 May 2023. When I went to use it on a bus at 09.30 on 18 May, it would not work- you've guessed it, it had expired at the end of the calendar day of 17 May. After paying for the bus, I tried it at a metro station and it wouldn't work. A lady at the Metro Shop at Sol station confirmed they expire by calendar day. So the motto of this is, don't buy one of these passes late in the day. I was particularly annoyed at what happened as I had had to buy an expensive Zone T pass as my hotel.was in Zone B1.
As videos cannot be edited or updated once published, we used the tools RUclips provides us, content creators: two warnings, both in the description of the video and on the first fixed comment under the video, reading "IMPORTANT: the Tourist Ticket is now valid per calendar day and not per 24-hour period."

Unfortunately here, just about to get onto a train, a local tapped me on my shoulder, just in time to prevent a pickpocket from trying to steal my wallet, even from a buttoned up pocket. Two teenaged girls and a man in his 30s or 40s.
A challenge for you would be to produce a guide to gluten free eating in Madrid -?restaurants, cafés and even supermarkets like Mercador. Written guides seem to suggest Madrid has better and more numerous gluten free dining places than Central London. Solo De Croquetas was a great place to start.

Hello, I was just wondering if I wanted to use a Tourist Card to get from the T4 Cercanias station to Atocha and then use it in the city centre for a few days will I have to pay for Zone A or Zone T fairs?

Hi. I see on the official transportation website that there is 50% discount on 10-journey trips….this started in February 2023. How does this compare with the tourist cards (e.g., 3 days tourist card) in terms of cost and zones, including 1 trip to the airport from Sol?
Hi Amir, you will have to do the maths to work out what works best for you. The more transport trips you intend to take, the better result you get from the Tourist Ticket, and vice versa.

Yes, your location is key.
Question.. if we’re traveling all over Spain, which is the best method? Renfe Tu card or Eurocard? Would it wise for us to buy the Dorada card-online (we’re seniors). Thank you!
Hi, we don't know what Eurocard is, and the Renfe&Tú Card is only valid for commuter trains in the large cities - cannot be used on high-speed trains. Tarjeta Dorada is interesting but a) you can't buy it online b) it only works for Renfe, not for Avlo, Iryo or Ouigo. See our advice on purchasing high-speed train tickets here: ruclips.net/video/QYvUn-sJxZ4/видео.html

Hola. After expiry of the tourist card validity, can I load the multi card with normal single ticket or 10 tickets? If yes, can I use one multi card for multiple people if loaded with 10 tickets?
Hi Debasish, yes, you can use the MultiCard as if it was new, you can load whatever you want, such as a Metrobus 10 tickets, and share with other people.
Thanks a lot going tomorrow ❤❤
Have a great trip, Omar.
Great information
Glad to hear that, Vaishnavi.
Hello! What is your recommendation for a student who will be in Madrid for 30+ days?
Quite likely your best option will be several Metrobus 10 viajes tickets. See here ruclips.net/video/dXaVX0Pag08/видео.html
Love your videos! Is there a route from Valencia to Barcelona on the Renfe high speed train?
Thank you! No, not yet. You can see the current high-speed lines on the video we recorded a while ago here: ruclips.net/video/n_M20gV04OY/видео.html

I am travelling to Madrid airport next year. Is it possible to advise me as to what travel card or ticket I should buy to get to the hotel Globales Aciscy Galetta
Due to the location of your accommodation (we assume you're not visiting Madrid and rather staying close to the airport) we would take a Bolt/Cabify/Uber. The alternative is bus 200 (pay with a Tarjeta Multi loaded with a Metrobus 10 viajes). See all the details here: ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html
Good day Tony,
Will be visiting Spain on September October and the Spain Government release a statement about getting a FREE fare for train less that 100 minutes. Is RENFE will be included to this? will it be available and HOW to: MADRID to Segorvia, MADRID to TOledo, Seville to Cordoba. Please update us and make a video on how to Avail this options. Thank you Fermin
Hello there, Fermin, ¡buenos días! We regret to inform that are not going to make a video, nor answers questions, on the issue you mention for several reasons:
- here in the channel our resources are limited and we always focus on content that will be long-lasting. We are not going to devote our limited resources to a four-month long scheme.
- it is an incredibly complex scheme.
- it is a scheme designated for locals, not for tourists. That doesn't mean tourists can make use of it but there are many restrictions in force that will prevent many from doing so.
- it is a scheme designated for commuters, so unless you commute often on the same stretch of line (minimum of 16 trips during the period), you're unlikely to make much out of it.
In case you're interested, here's the info on the scheme in Spanish: www.renfe.com/es/es/grupo-renfe/sociedades/renfe-viajeros/abonos-renfe
All the best.
hi, we are going to stay a month in Barcelona and 3-5 days Valencia, malaga and Madrid is there any card pass for whole museum's and transportation inside of cities of Spain?
or is there any card to have a entry pass for a month for Barcelona transportation and sightseeing ?
Hi there, in the car of Barcelona, there is a very good pass, check it out here: ruclips.net/video/DdI8q2ExeHo/видео.html Check the transport passes for Barcelona here ruclips.net/video/T2n160pWqJQ/видео.html We also have a video no Madrid museum passes.
It is OK If i buy only one 10 tickets multicard and use for
2 persons go together, just pay 2 times each?
There is some confusion here. The Multicard is the support where you load your tickets, whether the Tourist Ticket or a Metrobus 10 viajes. If you top up your Multicard with a Metrobus 10 viajes, two people can use it. Two credits will be discounted every time you two use it.
thank you! this is very clear
Our pleasure. Please read the comment underneath the video, the pass is now valid for calendar days and not for periods of 24 hours.
Hi Tony, couple of question related to the card:
1) What's the best plan if we are only using the metro 3 times (from the airport, from Atocha, to the airport)?
2) We are travelling in a group of 2 - should we just get one multi-card? Can we share the same multi-card, as in, first I tap, walk through the turnstile, and then pass the card for the next person to do the same thing? I heard the controller doesn't allow this.
3) Can I use this metro card outside of Madrid? Say, if I'm in Malaga or Seville, can I board the public buses using it?
Hello there:
1) buy a Metrobus 10 viajes, it entitles you to ten trips, you will only use six but it will be cheaper than buying single tickets.
2) exactly as described by you, no problems or issues whatsoever. It's the standard practice of thousands of people sharing a MultiCard.
3) no, it is only valid for Madrid.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Another question .. seems like buying a Multi Card and then loading in 10-journey tickets will cost me €14.70 (is this correct?). If I use this ticket to travel to/from MAD, do I need to pay the additional €3 surcharge per person per trip?
That is correct, although until the end of June the 10 journey ticket is selling at a 50% discount. Our video on how to leave the airport should answer your second question ruclips.net/video/QRjyWKX_HvU/видео.html
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks, that was very helpful! However, I have another question.
Given my journey (in October 2023) for a group of 2:
- Day 1: From MAD T4 to Atocha
- Day 3: From Atocha to Gran Via
- Day 5: From Gran Via (or Recoletos) to MAD T4
Do you think that I should still get a Multi Card (with 10-journey ticket loaded)? I believe this would cost me €26.70 in total (4x of airport surcharge + Multi Card + 10-journey ticket).
I am considering an alternative - In both Day 1 & 5, take the Renfe train (which would cost me €11.4 = €3.1 + 2.6 + 3.1 + 2.6) and then in Day 3, buy a Multi Card with two single-ticket (which would probably cost me €5.5). So in total, this would cost me only €16.9.
Any thoughts on this?
@@DSfishyyy day 1. Catch the airport train.
day 2. local bus, single ticket.

Hi Tony, I am staying in retiro Park area , 5 min walk from my stay. I also intend to go Toledo. Shall I buy Zone Z tourist card or multi card?
Hi, Irfan, if you plan on going to Toledo by bus and leave the airport using the metro, the Tourist ticket might be a good choice. Otherwise, stick to a Metrobus 10 viajes. You will need a Multi Card either way, the Multi Card is the support where your tickets are loaded.

hi Tony, if i buy the tourist pass for 1 day, can i make multiple trips to and from the airport on that day without having to pay the airport surchage?
Hi Sara, you can make unlimited trips without having to pay the airport surcharge.
Hello Tony, in 10 days we are visiting Madrid, 2 adults. We arrive on Thursday around 1pm, and leave on Monday around 2pm. I plan to buy tourist pass for each for 4 days, zone A. We plan to drive from the airport and back by metro and we are staying near Puente de Valecas, so not in the center. Is this ok or what do you suggest? Thank a lot.
Hello there, given that you will be staying far from the center and will need to use the transport on a daily basis, the investment on the Tourist pass might be quite interesting. Bear in mind the pass is valid per natural day, so the pass you will buy on the first day will only be valid until the end of that day. But even so, considering you get the Multi Card for free and ride the airport metro for free too, it's worth it.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal ok, thank you very much for your prompt reply! And how much time does it take by metro from Puente Vallecas to the city center? Best regards, Maja
@@soncek9783 there is no direct metro to the centre, you will have to use a combination of bus (line 24) and metro. It will take you any time between 30 and 45 minutes.

Good morning and need help - What is the best way to go from Airport Terminal2 to Sol by public transport? ......(a) Express Bus to (Cibeles)Banco De Spana and then Metro to Sol, or (b) Metro 8 to Nuevos Ministerlos and then C* renfe trains? Also is tourist pass valid for above path (b) travel i.e. renfe C3/C4 etc.? Thank you in adavance.
Hello there, we have a specific video on how to get to Sol, here: ruclips.net/video/Z8EU5rjmvGo/видео.html The Tourist Ticket is valid onboard Renfe trains. Bear in mind, however, the Ticket if valid per calendar day, if buy a one day ticket and you start using it at 5 pm, it will only be valid until the end of the day.
i have a question, atm i am with my dad in madrid and we are enjoying very much snd 10 trip ticket is fine for us. we did choose only zona a1 or so, but we are planning to go in the next few days to „the style outlet“ in northern madrid.
is there a way to get there and change our ticket for just one day to get there?
we asked our guide yesterday and she explained that we can enter a bus and show them our tourist ticket, tell them that this is only for zone a but we wanna go into zone b and then we need to pay some additional fee. is that correct and are the bus drivers fine talking in english?
We are a a bit confused, you talk about 10 trip tickets and then tourist tickets, which one are you really using? You can't assume all drivers will talk English, the majority won't. Our advice, look for a tourist information cabin (plenty around Madrid) and ask for specific help for your trip, there you are sure to find English speakers. All the best.

Hi I have a question. From my reading and undertsanding at the Metro website the Multi card alone is multi personal ie can be used by multi person but the Tourist Ticket is a personal ticket that each person need to have one each. So therefore if i purchased a Multi Card at Euro 2.50 and top up or loaded a 10 journey ticket then one card can be use by multi person right?
You are absolutely right. The Multi Card can be shared by different users. The only exception is the Tourist Ticket, which is individual.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you
Can multi ticket tourist card be recharged again for upcoming week in same way?
Maximum how many times can this card be recharged ?
You could recharge a new Tourist Ticket in your existing MultiCard, but since you get a new MultiCard for free every time you buy a Tourist Ticket, we would simply buy the new ticket.
Super clear video. Thanks a ton Tony for all the information across many videos you make...you guys really make it easy and let us plan with precision.
Can you share if there is an option to buy these cards ahead online and collect it on arrival at Atocha train station?
Any other transport option for a family? I find it always useful to use one card for family as its easy to use and handle when crossing station barriers or platforms and handling kids and strollers at the same time😄
Hi there, no, there is no option to buy those cards ahead. You get them from the machine on the date of travel. Be aware that the validity of the cards is per calendar day and not per 24 hour period. If you start using it at 9pm, the first day of use will run out at the end of the day. For families, probably better to get a Metrobus 10 viajes, valid for 10 trips in metro or buses, it can be loaded on a single Tarjeta Multi. All the best.
Hi, do I need to tap in and out when using the metro? Thanks
You only tap in.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal hi, last question when booking highspeed train online, is it normal to ask for my passport number? Thanks so much 🙂

As described in the video, with a Zone T ticket you can go to Toledo, Segovia, Ávila, which makes a great deal. Can you provide more detailed information how you can go to Toledo, Segovia, Avila using the zone T ticket, please?
You can't use a zone T ticket to reach Segovia or Ávila, and we haven't certainly said so in the video. To go to Toledo, you board the bus and approach your tourist ticket to the ticket reader. Be aware that the Tourist Bus is now valid per calendar days and not per 24-hour period blocks.
