@@byroncarrillo2003, So, I purchased mine in 2013 with 54k on it. 6months no problem. Then the oil light started to flicker. I bought an aftermarket warranty at the point of purchase. Took it to my mechanic & yup, burning oil. Long story short Byron, the warranty co. did NOT want to cover the replacement. Cussed them out in a letter to corp., got all my money back from 6months of payment. So the money went to the $2,500 that I had to pay outta pocket for a new engine, that my mechanic did some due diligence search on a clean running engine. So, the best I can tell you bud, is get service records & try to find 1 or 2 owned vehicles. Othrr than that, its kinda like picking a number out of a hat my man. But, 140k & haven't had any problems since the replacement, & that was 8yrs ago. So, yeah.
@@byroncarrillo2003 Pretty much what Jorge said, if not maintained properly the VQ will consume oil, with regular fluid changes that engine will consistently go 200k+ miles. Rebuilt an 02 with 5spd back in '21. My solution was to replace the original engine with a newer JDM 3.5VQ with 50K on it. The VQ with a manual transmission is a great combo, lots of torque on the trail.
@@TheKnightDrag0n wrong about the engine, the aftermarket is truly pretty amazing for the vq engines (especially the vq35de) but if you want to lift more than 2 inches youre gonna have to make it yourself. which is the sad truth
@@edwinprz936 Not true at all. Used to work in an audio shop, we just cut MDF into a 5x9 oval and mounted the 6.5 speaker to that. Also, owned a 2000 Pathfinder with Polk MM components installed. It can be done no problem.
Excellent video man! Windrock is a bucket list trail for me, would love to take my QX4 down there. Are you still using this rig? Any changes over the last couple years?
Way late to the party but here's what i did with my 02 with 5spd. For the lift I went with OME struts and 4x4parts AC 2" lift springs in front, bilstein 5100s and 9449 LR defender springs in back, spacers are cheaper but the springs and extended struts/shocks are the way to go. If you invest in the lift then you need to go all the way and swap out the ball joints, control arms, sway bar, and links with greaseable HD parts you can find at rock auto. At the very least you should upgrade and swap the bushings. High articulation CV joints and manual locking hubs will extend the life of your front end by countless thousands of miles. SF creation makes some great skid plates, at the very least you want their missing link to stabilize the lifted front end. The 5spd came with a weak lsd, I beefed mine up with extra friction plates and its almost as strong as having a rear diff locker. I dont have a front diff locker, have driven one and it feels weird to me on the road. These mods get me to almost anywhere a jeep can go. Have fun.
You just need LSD on the back You will gain alot of power & a tremendous amount of grip am using lokka differential locker on my nissan pathfinder And my V6 engine feels like a V8 now!! am preparing her for the season Can't wait for winter .. there will be alot of path finding in the wasteland to do lol
Very nice truck thinking about doing something very similar to run on trails. What company did you get that lift from? And how does it handle on road? And what size tires do you have?
Sorry for the slow reply! The lift is springs & struts (no spacers). I got them from 4x4parts.com. The tires are just over 31" (265 75 R16) and about 11" wide. The driver side did rub a little when installed, but that wore down after 1k miles. As for handling, the setup overall was fine. Handled pretty good both on and off road. It's definitely a change over stock, but not overly dramatic. You'll notice a difference on gas mileage and the feel of the rig...the weight of the tires changes most of that. But I drove this setup cross country, putting over 5k miles on it including trails in Colorado and Moab, UT. Well worth it.
Hello I have a questions when you go through nothing happens to your alternator? Because I been wanting to throw my truck In small Puddles but I’m scare that it would die on me ?? Please help
Marcos Gonzalez nothing happens. These trucks are made to handle that. I took this truck to trails out west and went thru water that came on the hood. As long as you're pushing the water you shouldn't have problems.
Those are the stock 16" rims. I painted them with Plasti-dip (which holds up great as you can see), and I changed out the front hubs to manual from automatic.
Wade McNair did you need wheel spacers? and did you have to change the studs for the manual hubs? i have the same wheels on my r50 and have heard of some manual hubs not fitting our wheel and for others the stock studs not being long enough
Thanks Reggie. Yeah, only 2" lift at the coils and 31" tires, but it runs great over all kinds of terrain. I took it out west to run trails in CO, Moab, and a few others. Went everywhere I wanted.
Wade McNair That thing looks great man. i love the r50s. Thinking about an 03-04 SE. I wanna get around a 3 to 3.5 inch lift but i dont see any kits anywhere, but there is that one on youtube with a 6 inch. Do you know how i could go about doing that? I would like to get 32s possibly 33s if i can fit them under a 3.5 inch lift
That music was pure hell. But the video was fantastic. Especially for being as old as it is. Drone footage 8 yrs ago! Grand adventure
Well done! I have a 2003 and she performs like magic in the pacific north west! thank you for the great video.
Have had my 2004 LE since 2015, absolutely love it and will never get rid of it 🤩🥰

Awesome video but I would please recommend another playlist while driving this one just makes me feel like your destination is hell
You can get the 2" coils from automotive customizers. The site is 4x4parts.com Its the main shop to get parts for all nissan trucks.
Thanks for the add brother. I pray ask is well with you and the family. God Bless!
very impressive. seems to be mostly stock
Only problem I have with pathies and nissans in general is its damn hard to find aftermarket parts
