so I am considering a tundra and tech is really dated in the older models. I am looking at a 2014-2019 what does it come with ? bluetooth calling al least? play your apple music without car play?
My 21 is an SR5 crew 4x4 with a $1200 convenience, cloth bucket seats, etc., and a towing package. It came with the factory radio with Carplay, but not a JBL system. I'm not sure what years they started including Carplay but it is nice to have. Do some research on the 19s that might have been when they started.
Have you noticed any difference in sound quality? I found a someone increase when use of my phone plugged in using CarPlay over Bluetooth. Pretty disappointed in the sound quality of a 55+k truck

Better off to get rid of that junk radio and install the Pioneer AVH-2400-NEX which has wireless Android Auto and Wirelesss Apple Carplay. Then do the Q.I charger by Toyota that goes in the armrest lid. Mine works great.
I have a charger in the lid but never use it unless on long trips with the family. I probably won't swap the head unit but might put an amp under the passenger seat.
I'm not sure. If you can plug your phone into the proper USB and connect to play the music you might have the ability to have wireless Carplay. Sorry, that's all I know, you could always try it and if it doesn't work, return it.
My CarPlay will not flash red, its a permanent red light on the CarPlay. I deleted all the phone connections in the radio and stopped my phones Bluetooth connection, it will still not pair with the radio. My car is a tundra from 2016. I also tried with a new wire, but it didn’t help either. Can someone help me
My trucks head unit came with CarPlay, but I have to have the module to use it wirelessly. If your head unit is not CarPlay compatible the module won’t work. It would take s head unit replacement.
Only if your vehicle came with CarPlay. This module only makes it wireless. The easiest way for you would probably be a new head unit. Thanks for watching.
It does Google Maps and Apple Maps, but I haven't seen the Waze App on the screen. Not sure if that would be available in different vehicles with different head units.
The sound is the same. I also just did a video on a new one that a company sent me and the sound is unchanged. I notice zero difference. Everything seems to work really well.

I plug it into the port for listening to music through my phone etc., not the regular USB port for charging. The mount is made by Hondo Garage. I’ve used them since 2017 in my Tacoma and now the Tundra.

What about when you put the truck in reverse ? Will it show the backup camera ?

If it came with Carplay it will work. Usually, you have to plug in your phone for this to work, if so this wireless module will also work.
do you think it would work for 2017?
If your truck came with CarPlay, the type you have to plug your phone in for, then yes. I’m not sure what years Toyota started including it.

my 2019 Tundra didn't come with Car Play. So, the Garlin 3.0 with not just plug and play, correct? Additonal work would be requred?

The head unit has to come with CarPlay.
