Beautiful . I was born in Stockton. Lived there till I was nineteen. Have lived in Dorset, in Poole for forty years but always appreciate the beautiful North East. Brought up in Park Road. My dad is David Youlden. A great local painter and decorator who carried on the Youlden decorating business.
To: @MossHomeandGarden - I am not looking through rose-coloured glasses to state that Stockton was once a most wonderful place to grow up in. Market days were a sight to behold. That was fifty years ago and like a multitude of urban centres, it has declined. Loss of major employers and changing retail styles have left town planners in the Tees Valley area, struggling to adapt.
@@petermoody6147 It’s the same in a lot of places like you say. My impression is that Stockton is turning a corner, the micro pubs, craft beer pubs and theatre are great. The redevelopment near the river looks really exciting. I will return in 2024 or 2025.
Stocton-on-Tees was the first railway terminus of the Stockton to Darlington railway. What was unusual about the S&D was that it had no railway stations, in-between the two terminus'.
Thanks for the great historic info Charles, much appreciated. I know that Stockton is steeped in railway heritage and when I next return I'll get more of that in my film.
I am from this area stockton had a beautiful high street, with coaching inns,( i remember the vane arms), the widest in england , and a marvellous victorian railway station, and then the idiot planners, eg stonehouse, and the corrupt councillors stepped in and destroyed the town and it's inhabitants Hope. God rot them.

Glad you liked the film, Stockton is a bit of a gem!
Stockton once had a really wonderful Victorian Station, until it was mostly demolished like many Stations locally.
Ha, ha! The 'Stockton Flyer'. I live at the two-mile mark from this and the whistle can be heard. It is a wonderful 'novelty' attraction.
It’s a great town, I’m looking forward to my next visit.
