Instead of having some water in the basket, I´d definitely drill some holes to get rid of water. If it is calm sea, no problem with water in the basket. But, at least here in scandinavia, you get quite often hit by 0.5-1.5m waves while costal fishing for sea-run-brown. And when that happens, it is not nice to have basket full of water and lost all the flyline all the way back behind you, over and over again...
Yes Mikko , that's right. I have two different ones that I use. When it is still water I have two small holes so the water takes a long time to drain and a line basket that drains the water out quickly. in rough seas it can be scary if the line basket fills up with water👍
