Isn't it amazing how much punishment Vegeta could take when they first fight him, and later when he's a good guy, he becomes just another punching bag or obstacle for the main bad guy to slap out of the way? That actually happens in a lot of RPG games as well.
I mean it makes sense vegeta cant keep up with the villians and there raising strengths all of the z fighters couldn't beat frieza yet vegeta rushed in alone because of his pride
Frieza saga is my favourite because it depicts Vegeta as smart soldier. He is picking his battles, acting covertly, being tactical. Later sagas turned him into a meme "MUH SAYIAN PRIDE" who goes into fights without thinking and gets his ass handed to him. This game has had more mixed reviews than any game I've ever played I think. I loved the game. I was a casual DBZ fan and this game helped me grow my love for the series.
For anyone who has doubts about this game, or bought it and played for a couple hours and lost interest, keep going! It gets so much better. I am a huge Xenoverse player and it took me awhile to adapt to the new style of fighting, but after getting used to it this game is amazing. Super fun and while it’s once again the same story I have played on Xenoverse, all the Budokais, Legacy Of Goku, the Burst Limit game, the immersion you get with the whole world and rpg element is by FAR more in depth than any other DBZ game out there. I do have some complaints but it’s nothing that can’t be overlooked. 9/10 for me
@@GinoNL ive only got one prayer for ya and its that you find the path to being loved by jesus our lord & savior. after that ive got plenty of hope you'll change your name from joe "felony" to joe "thank you jesus"
I mean, they DID make a couple beat 'em up type games for the Wii and GBA, but not exactly what I wanted. The "Origins" games for the DS were a step in the right direction, with game play similar to the DS Zelda games. Still, running around as Kid Goku using martial arts moves in a 3d environment would be a dream.
Yeah, especially since this game would have been much better if it was Dragon Ball instead. It had so much adventure, and this game could have utilised that much better.
I’ve gotten about a quarter way through the Android saga and I’m thoroughly enjoying it, the only real issue I have with the game is the constant repetitive battles of skull robos on earth it drives me insane
cheese get to the point where you can collect the dragon balls at will and you can ask Shenron for Z orbs and he gives you 10K of the rbg ones and 10 of the rare one. 20 minutes real time cool down then get them again. Shenron to the rescue 👌🏻
I honestly kinda forgot about collecting the orbs, after a while I didn’t need to. Around the freeza saga, I was able to get 5 levels high than the regular enemies in the area, which then allows you to super fly right through them and 1 hit them. Easy way to get orbs fast.
Gameranx: The fighting is great, the story is awesome and the graphics rock. The community: Help Roshi find his porn? Shiiiiiittt that's all you had to say!
I’m kinda sick of just going through the Z saga, I’ve done it in a million games now. Throw in an arc from super (fighting Beerus, Frieza, Hit, Black and Jiren) or GT or hell do an arc from the OG (doing goku vs piccolo would be great)
____\_______ May as well wait You’ll be able to see the gameplay on RUclips and judge if it’s what you like and after it’s on sale you’ll get it cheaper (it’s the same story so the way it plays is all that matters)
Yea, that's the main thing I want to know about the game, if it delves into the Super arc. Looking at the game is getting me very nostalgic. I've been wanting a third person action rpg-ish DBZ game for a very long time now, so I'll probably be getting this sooner than later. Maybe, just maybe the Super arc will become a dlc in the future.
I really want a big dlc expansion the let's you play through all of dragonBall. It's in my opinion so often underated and over looked. To me it's the best part of the whole dragonBall universe
I noticed you said "doing the same hit combo type of stuff" Something basically everyone missed because the game doesn't tell you, if you hit X, A, or Y during a combo it does a different attack that keeps the combo going without ending it. Most people tend to just spam B over and over for the same combo which kicks the enemies away. Just a small tip!
I appreciate that the combo system is there but 90% of the people who play won’t use it. The combos do actually do more damage but it’s to much thought for the amount of shit happening at once to make them worth using.
I never got into DBZ as a kid(I’m in my 30s so I just completely ignored it back then), but I have to admit I love this game. Coming from a place of complete ignorance about the lore, I am genuinely loving discovering this world, and the open world and RPG elements are fun.
Funny enough, my introduction to the world of Dragonball Z is from my roommates playing some of the older games. The gameplay and arguments about characters and power levels was hilarious and interesting, which made me want to check out the show. I didn't get a chance for another 15 years, but it was worth it. Now own the entire saga on DVD and blu-ray. Not saying the same will happen to you, but give the show a chance. You might like it. Word of advice. Don't bother with Dragonball Kai or GT. Ones just a watered down remake of a better series and the other is a complete waste of time.
@@djangounchained9387the filler is part of it though I think. The drive episode and such lol. I like watching with both the original soundtrack and the Falconer soundtrack too I can't decide which I prefer because both hit differently❤.
I'm just sad that it's always DBZ that gets all the love. I love the first dragon ball, would love that they would make a game based on that series. I'm pretty sure DBZ is getting a bit too milked by now.
Whaaaaat the version of the Dragon Ball that got a shit ton of people all over the world into anime and put the Dragon Ball series on the map is being used a lot, why the fuck would they do thaaaaaaat??
@Dylan Gruenloh Same, love originals, watched them uncensored original dub with awkward english subs, the way it was meant to be imo :P . Yamcha's story is one of the standouts imo :P
I actually like how the battles look to be based on traditional bosses where you wait for an opening and attack. To me it doesn't look like you spam to win.
I just got to Namek after 12 hours of playing which is insane 😂 but that's cuz I'm not rushing it and am doing like all the side stuff and sometimes I enjoy just flying around. Haha. I likely will put in at least like 60 hours in to the game I feel.
TeMPesT Zz What are you waffling about? The money is well worth it for 30 hours of entertainment do you know how much other sources of entertainment cost? Also it is quite hypocritical for you to suggest that he is too young to buy anything for himself as your comment’s structure and language are also that of a toddlers.
I love this game for nostalgic purposes only. The recreation of the story in 3D environments with lots of little details for fans of the series to notice. Absolutely love that part of the game, but everything else is pretty sub-par.
Cell saga is my favorite because it was the actual end to “z” I never want dragon ball to end but that saga wrapped the bow perfectly for z. The buu saga coulda worked better as a intro to super with supreme kais and higher deities
The Namek/Freiza saga is a nice "end" to Z as well as there could be speculation as to what happened to Goku with the planet exploding or not and also it would be the ultimate final battle involving "the super saiyan".
The saiyan/ earth saga could have been a good ending for z. Wondering where the saiyans are and where they came from also where did vegeta go when he was let free from earth
The best saga for me is the 'Cell Saga,it just seemed like it was all over. I bought all the Sagas and me my family love it every single bit of it. I watched for the first time back on 'Toonami . Great video guys ✌
Personally I feel like the frieza saga was the best, it felt like it neatly wrapped everything up. The only issue was the cliffhanger ending with goku "not wanting to return".
This game was just announced for the Switch. Having yet to play this game and having LOVED DBZ for so long, I am looking forward to this. The ability to fly around and see different places in the DBZ world reminds me of when I played Budokai 3 on the PS2 as a kid. That makes me excited :)
Me too. Budokai 3 and 2 were the only DBZ games I’ve ever played, and I haven’t done so in YEARS (I actually also remembering playing another game, but all I remember from that one is that Cell had a dream about absorbing Krillin instead of 18 and then he became weaker). I don’t care how “bad” this game might run on Switch. As long as it works, I’m sure I’ll love this game.
@@SpideySansGoku2517 just picked it up on playstation for a great deal. 19 bucks if and it came included with all the season 1 DLC, which was Battle of Gods arc, Resurection F, and Future Trunks storyline. Great game, and its worth it. Between the base game and the DLCS, the game is sure to last you for around 60-90 hours depending on how much you care about side quests. If you are a completionist who wants to collect everything, and max level all the characers. it will probably take around 120-140 hours between all the DLCS. For 19 bucks that is a great deal. And that isnt even including other DLCs, which are the bardock one, and the teen goku one. I picked up the teen goku DLC and it is great and added tournament style battles as well as playable Tien. The Bardock DLC added playable kid vegeta, but I dont have that one so I cant speak for the rest of it. Even if you decide to not get any of the DLCs, the base game should last you roughly 50-70 hours of fun. if you do want to still pick up the game, I highly recommend you wait for it to go on sale again, that way you can get it for 19 bucks and it will come with the season 1 DLC pack. Much better than paying 60 dollars for the base game and an addition 30 dollars for the dlc pack.
I think the appeal of this game is that this is (so far) the largest, most complete, most accurate game rendition of the DBZ story we all know and love. The combat can be repetitive and some minor things are cut/change, but for the most part, this game IS playing the anime.
Its true that its the most accurate version of a dbz game relating to the story to date yeah it misses stuf but u actually get to be I'n the world and experience stuff which u cant in any other so I would agree
@@chirris3527 I mean, compared to what? Like, I think the game is alright, eh, but please tell me another game that doesn't cut out or change the story drastically in order to fit it all in.
PROS: Im playing the game now ..as a fan..its a Nostalgic feeling..it brings you back and its quite fun . the graphics are A-1 and makes it more fun with interactions..open world and the visuals are a big plus ...i love the maturity of the dialogue..makes me feel more at home and comfortable as an adult playing.. CONS: No VS mode , simple fighting mechanics with only like two combos . No character switching ..the leveling up aspect is pretty annoying and the pop up fights are annoying as shit .
@@colehicks1997 ive played rise of a ninja and kakarot, i think the combat in kakarot is fine and it can be somewhat fun against the bosses but the ubisoft naruto games were deeper and had multiplayer modes
I've seen a lot of people not realize there are combo buttons that change how you finish a combo. During a combo if you press X or A it will end with a guard break. If you press Triangle or Y you will end it with a aoe and gain some ki. If you use Square or X you will end it with a Ki blast for good damage.
Power2thePeople I had the week off of work so I was able to play a lot. But it’s not that long of a game. About 40 hrs to do whole story and side quests. Probably another 20 hrs if your going for platinum. Definitely better off waiting till it’s half price. Not worth $60 but it was fun.
Ye it’s either budokai 3 or budokai tenkaichi 3 . I find it funny the last entries for similar literally similar named franchises are the most popular and praised out the rest
I absolutely agree with you, Budokai 3 is the definitive DBZ game for me and the best one as well! It was really the first fighting game I really got good at, I maxed out every character, was able to play the hardest difficulty and not get frustrated when I would lose. Since I don’t really play other ones because they don’t give me that Budokai 3 feel
I was disappointed that they removed the "OVER 9000!" line. it's one of the most iconic lines in DBZ. I also wished they'd given us the ability to remap controller buttons, and the lock on cycling is terrible. aside from these gripes, I'm really enjoying the game.
buzzsawgr81 The actual line for that moment is “It’s over 8000” so even if it was in the game, Funimation would have dubbed it accurately and said “8000” instead of “9000” so you’d still probably be disappointed. Plus the Ocean dub of Dbz made that line iconic, and this game is dubbed by Funimation, so it really doesn’t matter tbh.
Ever since I've played Budokai 3, I've been wanting a DBZ game that let's you explore the world of Dragon Ball in a more detailed manner, this game did that and I love it
Ss2 Majin Vegeta and fusion Super Saiyan transformations were introduce as well. I suppose those don't really count since teen Gohan revolution ssj2 first technically in cell games. All this aside Still ssj3 was was my fav Saiyan transformation
I'm still hearing everything in my head anyway! Watching some gameplay, and that bit with Gohan stuck up on the rock after escaping dinosaur and I hear Piccolo just screaming "CLIMB DOOOOOWN!! AAAARGH!" Jfc my life has never been the same since abridged
I'm midway through the Cell Saga and I love it! As far as the game handles in terms of mechanics etc... this feels pretty much like Mad Max. Simple, straightforward, and oozing a good sense of style 👌
cell Saga is my favourite, how ever i would like to see a Dragonabll game do the entire story from Dragonball to super with GT as a bonus side quest thing + the movies done in an rpg style
The fight mechanism for this game really aren’t that bad at all. Sometimes the camera angle makes this confusing but the games lets you control the camera angle at all times from 3rd person perspective. It’s heavily encouraged to complete side missions to build up characters skill trees but sometimes the side quest are just so boring. The story line and graphics are amazing too. All in all this is a fantastic game, I may be a little biased because I’m a life long super fan of all things dragonball/ DBZ/ GT/ Super/ Hero’s related but I can say with confidence, this game is worth it.
I gotta be honest: for me, personally, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the best dbz game currently available. I love everything about it. It's even better than watching the show, I think. Lol
This game has so much potential and I hope they release a sequel which realises that potential, this game is very solid but it gets very grindy later on into it
Even after this video I'm still on the ropes about this one, solely because the combat seems so repetitive. Sure i adore the story in DB, DBZ, DBGT (yes i said it) and DBS, but i want a game like this to have meaningful combat, not just button mash. Is this really a good buy if your favorites are the budokai games along with FighterZ?
@@doorbob3445 Honestly I don't think I like DBZ Kakarot. Combat is too simple, controls are awkward, there's no gear to change stats or aesthetics, leveling up doesn't seem to matter as you auto level as the story progresses. There is no sense of meaningful exploration because ALL side quests and dragon balls available are marked on the map. If the combat weren't easy enough I know you can carry at least 50 healing items into a fight. The Game LOOKS really good though, and the open DBZ world is cool, if people are able to mod the game easily I see a lot of potential.
@@ranmayasha man that's sad to hear, CC2 has always been flash and no substance so I was expecting this, damn is it so hard to make a good dbz rpg? Hopefully they patch a higher difficulty and maybe I'll get it on sale because 10 year old me would have loved that game
Started playing it on the 16th 9PM, I'm bealry bout to fight frieza with goku, this game is lengthy lol so far I love it, yes it's not perfect but it's a big step in the right direction for DBZ, hope for future patches and more DLC
Bought it. This game makes me fear the some of the characters again. Nostalgic game, the sounds and side characters from dragonball. Xenoverse was good but wayyy too easy. This game makes me want to visit every corner of the game. They reward you for exploring and finding stuff. Not even the biggest dbz fan but this shii is dope. 20 hours in and I'm fighting ginyu. Just hit level 30 with goku and the gang
@@sikisikiamimis for myself, the most difficult part of the game is training to learn a new attack when you're not on the same level as they recommend. Fighting Nappa with Gohan was difficult. So was fighting raditz with goku alone while piccolo charged the special beam cannon. But to each their own. Maybe you're a better Z fighter than me. Lol I need to fill oit my Z community board better. Haha
Just beat this game. I absolutely loved it. The combat can get a bit repetitive but everything else is really fun. The environments are amazing and being able to play through the story as different characters is so cool.
@@JMartNotKMart yup. i got it! Its a fun game but its quite repetitive. Once you learn to cancel enemy charges with L2+Square with some good timing, it is so easy to steamroll fights. I will use that 3 hit melee attack and keep using it without being interupted. I tried playing normal, with dodging etc, but the enemy just abuses specials like crazy.
Really loving the game. Definitely took me a minute to get into. The fishing mission where Gohan walks .2 mph to the lake and cries when you get to far was really irritating, and halfway through the walk, he randomly decided to walk away from me, then he got caught on a rock. So I tried blowing up the rock, but then he got stuck doing his walking animation in midair. It was a really bad first impression. But when the game hits the big moments, like the spirit bomb against Vegeta or that feeling of the first fight against Frieza after going SSJ1, or watching Krillin explode, or playing as Future Trunks against Frieza, are just so adrenaline pumping, it’s worth the price of admission. It has some technical issues and there’s too many fetch quests, but man. It pulls off all the big moments to perfection. Worth buying if you love the show and can forgive some more lackluster open world elements and you just want to relive the story as a video game

As a huge comic book & DBZ fan, I can honestly say, DBZ took the west by storm. Yes that’s a compliment but not really? We’re just gonna keep getting games of the same sagas and stories. That’s like people complaining that we keep getting to many Spider-Man origin stories. Yeah that’s in film mostly, but if it were gaming, it would be the same thing. It’s so weird, but this game is awesome.

Exactly
9/10 for me

Yeah, especially since this game would have been much better if it was Dragon Ball instead. It had so much adventure, and this game could have utilised that much better.

The only thing I kinda don't like about the game is having to fly around collecting all those Z orbs
cheese get to the point where you can collect the dragon balls at will and you can ask Shenron for Z orbs and he gives you 10K of the rbg ones and 10 of the rare one. 20 minutes real time cool down then get them again. Shenron to the rescue 👌🏻
The dragonballs give you 10k each you can collect them within 5 min and you can make a wish every 20min
And if you dont wanna do that even the battles give you more than enough z orbs so no worries mate
I honestly kinda forgot about collecting the orbs, after a while I didn’t need to. Around the freeza saga, I was able to get 5 levels high than the regular enemies in the area, which then allows you to super fly right through them and 1 hit them. Easy way to get orbs fast.
Oh cool now I can just enjoy the story without having to worry about collecting all the orbs, thanks guys

May as well wait
You’ll be able to see the gameplay on RUclips and judge if it’s what you like and after it’s on sale you’ll get it cheaper (it’s the same story so the way it plays is all that matters)
I can imagine the company making that possible if they plan on making DLC expansions or just sequels to this game if it ends up selling well.
Space Penguins Beerus and Whis were found in the game’s files so most likely we will be getting super stuff.

@@mikevortex you play as gohan for like 70% of the game this shouldn't be labeled kakarot
I noticed you said "doing the same hit combo type of stuff"
Something basically everyone missed because the game doesn't tell you, if you hit X, A, or Y during a combo it does a different attack that keeps the combo going without ending it. Most people tend to just spam B over and over for the same combo which kicks the enemies away. Just a small tip!
Found this out by looking at the combat menu but thanks for sharing for other people
Hell yess just read the tutorial and it’s right there. You can link together super attacks this way really well
I appreciate that the combo system is there but 90% of the people who play won’t use it. The combos do actually do more damage but it’s to much thought for the amount of shit happening at once to make them worth using.
its also giveing bonuses if you press y it will charge your ki a littlebit and x does more demage but will take ki from you
Joey Shouldn't need to read the tutorial. The game should organically teach it to the player in the first 10 or so minutes.

Wondering where the saiyans are and where they came from also where did vegeta go when he was let free from earth
dragon ball picollo arc could have been good ending..... Bla bla bla bla bla
Goku dieing from Bulma's gun could have been a good ending.
The only intro to super should be "Hey let's not do this" and that's it

Much better than paying 60 dollars for the base game and an addition 30 dollars for the dlc pack.

buzzsawgr81 The actual line for that moment is “It’s over 8000” so even if it was in the game, Funimation would have dubbed it accurately and said “8000” instead of “9000” so you’d still probably be disappointed. This game makes me want to visit every corner of the game. They reward you for exploring and finding stuff. Not even the biggest dbz fan but this shii is dope. 20 hours in and I'm fighting ginyu. Just hit level 30 with goku and the gang
Yeah, xenoverse was hardly a challenge
JayPainGaming 30 hours in and I’m waiting 10 days for the cell games
How is this any harder than XV
@@sikisikiamimis for myself, the most difficult part of the game is training to learn a new attack when you're not on the same level as they recommend. Fighting Nappa with Gohan was difficult. So was fighting raditz with goku alone while piccolo charged the special beam cannon. But to each their own. Maybe you're a better Z fighter than me. Lol I need to fill oit my Z community board better. Haha
@@SFXTroll thanks. You just definitely motivated my purchase.
The game is amazing and I been playing for 3 days
u still playing it?
@@sedakiv1572 no, he ded
Rip
@@sedakiv1572 I'm in love with this game..after defeating kid buu
@@LiickreallyShiesty3722 are you getting the dlc
I'm personally loving this game. It's the legacy of goku I always wanted
Facts bro
Just beat this game. I absolutely loved it. The combat can get a bit repetitive but everything else is really fun. The environments are amazing and being able to play through the story as different characters is so cool.
how many sagas are in it?
@@tukloo2388 saiyan through the Buu saga. It also has Battle of Gods, Ressurection of F, and History of Trunks DLC.
What this game will really need is an dbz abridged mod
Harpy81 oh yea
Love that show. Can’t watch the original anymore. So much funnier!
Senzu Bean!
Piccolo and Celine Dion needs their voices heard. Cell can only feel Perfect if he's with Goku.
@Soller you really want attention huh?
I remember visiting Mexico back in 98 and catching the kid buu saga priceless no kids outside
I remember watching the Kid buu saga in 95 in France.
OG dragonball is my favorite of all time literally such an amazing show
i’ve been stuck on one part for a long time and it’s like the 4th time this happened and it’s hard to get past but once u do it feels amazing
When are we getting an original Dragon Ball game like this?
I wanna play as kid Goku and grow up to fight Piccolo in that tournament.
dlc lmao
I love this game so much! I love doing subquests and exploring and fighting and the cutscenes and I love lure and story. It's all so amazing.💯👏
Facts
Been playing the game all week, 33 hours in and just reached Piccolo vs. Cell part in the story.
I never had this much fun playing a DBZ game before.
@Machi Bethell If you do side quests, don't rush and explore a good while then it's roughly 70-90 hours without the DLC.
@@KenXyroReal Hmm.. I'm not sure about 70-90 hours. With 8 hours of gameplay watching all the cutscenes, not rushing and leaving the game on, I've gotten to the androids almost, so I'm not sure.
@@fitnessabdul6811 Even if you skip the cutscenes the Saiyan Saga lasts more than 8 hours so either you're lying, not doing any side quest or not measuring your time right.
@@KenXyroReal My game says 12 hours and I've left my PC of Kakarot on for 3 hours and I'm at Android saga. I'm sure you did a bunch of side quests and explored the map a lot more than I did so that's probably why. The games a blast though.
@@fitnessabdul6811 That makes more sense. Yup I did all side quests and also explored entire map every time a new area unlocked. 70% of the game is in the side quests, definitely don't recommend skipping them.
I'm loving this interactive nostalgia anime...and the soundtrack uuuuff really takes me back!!!!
This game freaking rules so far
Can u fight online??
Joe V no it’s a single player dude
Austin Nicholas It gets better once you get the mechanics down.
Its very fun atm cant stop runnin an flying around 💯💯🔥
@@joev92 the game is literally xenoverse 2 if they had online
This game is a step in the right direction.....maybe in another 5 years we will finally have a great DBZ game.
👍
As a huge comic book & DBZ fan, I can honestly say, DBZ took the west by storm. Yes that’s a compliment but not really? We’re just gonna keep getting games of the same sagas and stories. That’s like people complaining that we keep getting to many Spider-Man origin stories. Yeah that’s in film mostly, but if it were gaming, it would be the same thing. It’s so weird, but this game is awesome.
You hit the nail on the head with this one. I was also disappointed when I first started playing it. Now I'm on the cell saga and have found myself enjoying it a more than fair amount.
I'm just really hoping there is alot of DLC, I'd love some stuff from super or gt. It's a good game. I'm glad I didnt buy the ultimate version though.
anthony wiltherson how far into dragon ball does it go? I’m guessing it doesn’t go as far as super?
@@tom1cook apparently it stops at the end of the buu saga. I cant confirm yet though. Just finished the cell saga myself.
Well, I have news for you.
@@spiritgate0444 what's that bro
@@spiritgate0444 a year later, and you never told this man the news😔
I just started playing this and I love it, but I wish they would have started with DB first, I think playing as kid goku to start off this game would have been perfect.
Esteban Garita the series itself was very boring do you think a game based on it would be good?
@@mamdohbammm6980 the heck you talking about? That might be your opinion, but many people actually think that the Dragon Ball in which Goku's a kid is a lot better than DBZ, so stop trying to portray your opinion as if it was definitive. I'd love to see kid goku's story in the game

Ayy checking in.
my baby brother [9] is a db fan ever since i introduced him to the manga 5 years ago, and anime. gave him the game on his pc and he loved it. man it feels great and so sad and nostalgic. I remember running away, stealing pocket change just to go to the local arcade and play db:bt3 on their ps2 and challenging other kids to pvp and loving the beam struggles. man imagine being 10 and being this now.. that would blow your mind.
