    Birth of the Finnish Army armoured corps
    The Finnish Armored Corps can trace its origin to 1919 with the formation of the Tank Regiment (Hyökkäysvaunurykmentti) on the 15th of July at Santahamina Island near the capital of Helsinki. With the regiment of men sorted, it was time to get the tanks sorted and an order was placed for 32 French Renault FT tanks. These arrived from Le Havre in Helsinki in early July, complete with six Latil tractors with their trailers, and were issued to the Tank Regiment on the 26th of August 1919.
    Finnish Armored Corps fought in The Winter War, The Continuation War and The Lappland War, in the three Finnish wars during The Second World War 1939-1945.
    Today The Armoured Brigade (Finnish: Panssariprikaati) is a Finnish Army training unit located in Parolannummi, near Hämeenlinna, in southern Finland. The brigade specialises in training armoured and anti-aircraft troops.
    Panssarivaunujoukot 100 vuotta
    Tänä vuonna tulee kuluneeksi 100v suomalaisten panssarivaunujoukkojen koulutuksen aloittamisesta. Tätä satavuotista taivalta juhlitaan Parolannummella Hämeen Panssaripataljoonan perinnepäivän merkeissä 12.7.2019.
    Tänään Panssariprikaati on mekanisoitujen ja moottoroitujen taisteluosastojen, ilmatorjunnan sekä elektronisen sodankäynnin erikoisosaaja Kanta-Hämeessä. Myös Varusmiessoittokunnan soittajat koulutetaan Panssariprikaatissa.

    Notably Sturm is lacking from the collection. Otherwise a nice display of modern and historical equipment.

      I'm pretty sure Finland only kept 3 or 4 T-72M1. Not really worth it.

      @herrakaarme Год назад

      @@miquelescribanoivars5049 You are correct. Apart from a few museum/parade samples, the Finnish T-72M fleet is no more. Finland never even modernised the T-72s to the same level Poland, for example, did. They were just scrapped and replaced with Leopard 2A4s and 2A6s.

      Demilitarized museum pieces with no recent upgrades, not much use except driving around.

      @@Tankspotting at least it have amour. Fit a new gun and it will work. Just that Finland is next to Russia so they do not dare to cough

    • @herrakaarme
      @herrakaarme Год назад +3

      @@wangwu9299 Finland has shipped a surprising amount of material to Ukraine, considering Finland's geographical position, that is, potential for needing the stuff themselves. It's just that Finland doesn't advertise the shipments at all, to make it more difficult for Russian intelligence to target them. Naturally Finnish government sources have indicated the stuff sent is such that it can be reasonably replaced in the Finnish inventory, in order not to compromise Finland's own martial ability.
      So, in short, Finland has been doing plenty of coughing. A side effect of the secrecy is the international sources tracking military aid barely listing Finland at all, giving an impression Finland doesn't dare.
