Highly recommend qn91b 65" I am already after 1 month of testing it. For me it is great while using in dark room or bright room. Black levels are really good, brightness is amazing, gaming is on other level as well. Really in majority of scenes difference is minimal comparing to s95b (only in really really dark scenes) which my colleague own since few months. Only downside for me is little blooming effect in scenes where you see one source of light/ subtitles on dark screen, it gets worse while watching it from bigger angles, however it is not big issue because I am always sitting almost in front of the screen. Additionally no burn in risk for me was one of major factors to choose it over LG OLED C2 which was exactly at same price that time in store. Additionally, reflections in bright store area were too noticeable on LG as I could see myself almost like in the mirror on the screen, even on maximum brightness level. Thanks to staff who presented it on different brightness level on both TV's. Tizen is average but enough. I am using this tv for gaming on XSX/PS4, HD cable tv, Netflix, HBO, sports watching. Mr. FOMO, Been watching your content for some months as I was searching for a new TV to upgrade my 2016 Samsung 1080P unit, believe it was a 6300 series from Costco. The latest update is now 1304.1 and it improved a few more things. You are the first reviewer that I have seen mention the Shadow Detail adjustment. Upping it improved my pic and resolved the black crush especially when viewing programs with POC. I have narrowed the judder problem to older content and it usually happens in cheaply filmed commercials. I don't see any blooming but I don't have it set to full bright and used the auto dimming for night viewing. Order the old school remote you want be sorry.
Great video! I've been watching reviews for the past 2 weeks regarding this TV and you helped me finally decide to get it. My local electronics store carries the QN90B as well as the QN92B and they couldn't really tell you what the differences were except that the QN92B is a bit better. I couldn't find any info online either. Can you tell me the differences between the two?
Any recommendations or info on the dimming bug if I buy a new QN90b. I plan on getting on soon as my Tv is so old and I can get a good deal on this TV with some work discounts. Just hoping to get the Tv and not immediately have an issue. Let me know cheers!
Thanks Fomo, This was my go to for purchase this year. Glad things are resolved. Question, the processor loves pushing the greens and really has an effect on like city lights on a night scene. Sometime you’ll see it on the clouds. Can calibration adjust that?
Is the local dimming failure something that comes up after using the tv (even out of warranty) or something that existed from day 1 (in that case replacement should be easy)?
I have an OLED in my living room. Love it. Best viewing experience We've ever had for both TV and Movies. Having said that, I would never buy an OLED for a gaming TV. People can say whatever they want about how OLEDs have improved as far as image retention and burn in but the fact remains that it's still a real risk regardless. No way would I spend $1500-$2000 on an OLED TV if it was also going to be a gaming TV. Maybe if I was rich and could splurge for a new TV every 3-4 years but I need my TVs to last more than 5 years. The Samsung would be my choice for gaming just for piece of mind. It's a fantastic TV and I doubt anyone would have any regrets with it for a gaming TV.
Wow I have the opposite setup. A 48” C1 for my pc and getting a 75” QN90B for living room. The reason is the living room is hard to light control because it’s a central part of the house while my pc is in my bedroom which is easy to light control. Had it for 2 years now and using it in the worst case scenario with TPC (brightness turned on on static images was very annoying on pc) turned completely off. Still no hint of burn in yet, 1200 hours of on time. If you are console gaming it’s no problem. Maybe for pcs there could problems but I haven’t encounter any yet. I do have a live wallpaper with wallpaper engine and that’s the only protection I have
@@theholypopechodeii4367 I still don't have it yet. Will get it tomorrow and I will then reply again once I watched some things on it to get a general idea of it looks.
@@theholypopechodeii4367 Looks great. It works perfect in that environment. I think an OLED would just be too reflective. In a bedroom it works great which is why I use one for my PC, but the living room is open space with a lot of windows. Also definitely prefer the colours on it as opposed to an OLED. The image feels more alive for sure especially with the high brightness. But I would definitely not use it as a PC monitor because of its slow response times and blooming around icons. It doesn't have a noticeable bloom on videos though. These don't really affect movie content which is why it's great for a living room/home cinema setup. I think this was the right choice for my situation, but if you can fully light control a room, a QD OLED is probably still the best. Also got really lucky with the panel lottery. Got an extremely clean panel. It's as clean as my C1 which is a massive bonus as bad DSE can suck a lot for sports.
@@theholypopechodeii4367 I didn't say it had bad blooming. It's completely imperceivable in most content, it's just super obvious around white icons on a black background. It does give great contrast for sure. And its response times are good, but they aren't good enough for me, but once you see OLED instant response times on a PC it's no competition. But the QN90B does have a look about it where it does make you feel like you are looking out a window, which sometimes an OLED doesn't have.
Hi Love your video. I'm thinking about buying Q90 or Q80 , do you know if these TV are dual voltage? If I buy them in the US can I use them in Europe or Asia? Thanks.
Costco just dropped the price on the QN90A 65 to $1299 plus tax. includes 5 yr warr. I ordered it and also a Samsung HW-Q7CB soundbar for $379 on sale from $599. I was going to wait for black friday for the QN90B but the price drop got me buying the last gen tech. I cant wait to try Q-Symphony.
I'm really enjoying your videos, thanks! I have to say (and I realize this is personal and differs among people) that I'm going to hold off this year. My 65" Samsung is very good, just not HDR or 4K. We have a fairly bright room during the day, and it does great in both bright light and when I darken the room. I've been interested in getting an 85" television, and I love everything about the QN90B except the fact that it doesn't support Dolby Vision. Even that would be ok, except that more and more content seems to be going that way, and I want this to be my primary television for several years, so ... I can wait and see what happens with next year's models. I know that can be a trap, but I'm the only one in my family wanting the upgrade anyway, LOL! I like Samsung, and I get where they're coming from, but ...
BB has the QN90B for $1499...that is 26% off. Wonder if it is worth buying now or waiting for Black Friday? Any thoughts? My gut tells me it will be cheaper in November.
If only 2 TVs existed, this and the Sony X95K, which would you recommend for someone who is really only interested in great overall picture quality (both SDR and HDR) and doesn't care at all about gaming.
Can the QN90B pass Uncompressed 5.1/7.1 multichannel audio through it's eARC to an A/V? This ability is supposed to work over eARC, however it did not work on the Q90T from 2020. I use an Xbox Series to test this. It fails at the Xbox's audio settings menu, when attempting to enable 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed audio, while it is connected to the eARC port of a Q90T. Thank you for all the great reviews.
@@everry3357 yes overall it's the best tv and best lcd no doubt. Only problem is samsungs support is the worst and their tvs are most likely to give issues.
@@lewisevander well we will see about that, and tbh it's fine for me the local distrubuter i bought it from has a great warranty cover, so i don't have to deal with samsung directly if problems happen they will take care of it. I hope it never comes to that as for my experience with samsung products has been great so far all my smartphones fridge drycleaner even the microwave lmao is from them. Now that i think about it holy shit 🤣🤣
I had a qn900a and now a qn900b and noticed both had some local dimming issues with standard picture mode. I set movie mode to the exact same settings as standard and there is no issue and local dimming works perfectly. Is this something you could check?!
Same here! Just returned a Sony A80k for this QN90b. What killed it for me was the Sony OLED automatically dims your screen during football games or F1 due to static tickers or scoreboards. I get why it does but holy shit I hated it! Now I have the Samsung and it looks AWESOME at all times! Bright sun, sports context, RUclips, movies. I’m all for it.
@@Gdavis248 I love how you get local dimming so damn freaking good the shadow detail matches OLED, also I love how I can watch horror movies at night with true blacks, but I honestly the colour volume is so immense you can feel the colours.
Dolby Vision on my Sony doesn't have less saturation or look dimmer. DV The colours are more saturated in highlights and APL is basically identical, on occasions its a touch more. I dont watch Netflix DV only Blu-Rays. Which is where you know it has the highest standards. Shadow detail, contrast and tone mapping is far superior with DV over HDR10. The biggest difference I've seen with DV over HDR10 is on the Hisense Dual Cell. Sadly it was shunned by many when it has the best of both worlds from OLED and LCD.
Why aren't they using the back light of the actual day light ? and switching the colours etc for the picture ? backlight only needed at night and then ultra efficient on energy ?
I hope Sony x95k brings also some update to be better compitotor to 90b. I like Google TV more plus motion with xr processor. Looking forward for big shootout this month
I have the QN90A, which is pretty much the same tv. I love it but the DSE on these panels is crap. It's not noticeable in normal content but as soon as sports come on or a lighter image, it's there. I especially notice it on an angle where it looks like vertical lines.
It's a non issue is what it is especially if the content is 24p. If you have odd rates, because there are ALOT of variables sure it can stutter, any tv can.
the anti glare coating is terrible... would much rather have the 85b in that regard. What is the put of anti glare coating if it just smears all of the light across the whole screen? it looks terrible
Great review FOMO, I am glad you got to see the QN90B without the issues like I did, interesting that your first one was a hardware failure that makes sense from what you showed. I agree this TV is my top non-OLED TV this year, and if your use case is any kind of bright room watching at all just get this over an OLED TV.
And KG, Consumer Reports agrees with your conclusion that the QN90B is the "top non-OLED TV this year", because on the online site for Consumer Reports (for those who have paid subscriptions to that site), the test results of 65 inch 2022 and 2021 model year TVs, have the 65 inch QN90B out scoring all of the other non-OLED TVs, among the dozens of 65 inch models tested, including the Sony 65" X95K.
@John John, the first sentence of your post "Not when it comes to realistic picture I have both Sony blows your way for real contact don’t watch black bars" may make some sense to you, but would you please rewrite that statement in a more coherent way that clearly communicates your meaning to a well educated American, such as yours truly. I mean, for example, what does your phrase "I have both Sony blows your way for real contact" actually mean? And is your statement "I have both Sony" supposed to indicate to readers that you actually have both Sony TVs among 2 different unnamed Sony models? I'm sorry, but it really is difficult to figure out the precise meaning of whatever the exact point is that you were trying to make.
High Peak Luminance create the soap opera effect on movies , even with all the motion setings disabled ?Please, tell me, what values would be suitable for a good cinematic movement . I have an 65 inch Qn90b , and the firmware is 1430.1 , the same as S95b. With 1310.1 firmware everything was fine . Thanks.
Waiting for LG QNED and Hisense mini-led TVs. I know the Dolby Vision isn't that big of a deal but if the Hisense can offer dolby vision and isn't that much worse in terms of blooming/blacks, it'll be hard to justify spending the extra money on the Samsung.
I figured out and fixed the slow latency on the new Tizen system by repairing your samsung solar remote control. I did that and now the system and the slow response time have completed gone away. Its perfect now. I have the 85 inch QN90B.
Been hearing mixed reviews I'm wanting to get one soon and I'm in the uk so I'm torn between the qn94a vs qn90b and I want really good blacks and minimal to no blooming
Hi Sir @stopthefomo, I am torn between 77 LG C2 vs 85 QN90B. Will be using mostly for streaming and slight gaming. No direct sunlight and not concerned about bright room as we usually watch movies at Night. I like the picture quality of the C2 but liked the addidtional 8 inches from the 85 QN90B aswell. Also I am using a samsung soundbar so Im not sure if the Q-Symphony will help me lean towards the QN90B. Burn-in also is not covered under Costo warranty in Canada so Im not sure if I need to worry about that. Thanks for the help.
Audio sync issues with QN90B. First day, FW 1304 audio through built in speakers on all apps out of sync pass 10 minutes. Pause/play solves it for another 10 minutes. Change and reset audio to deafult, didn't solve it. Turn on the tv on the next day with no issues, but this time I plug TDT antenna and HDMI from Cable Provider. I hope it isn't related to some kind of throttling bacause of high temp in hdmi zone.
I feel your pain! I got a Xbox series x. Got an a80j: looks amazing in games but the auto dimming (ASBL / TPC & GSR 😑) sucks! It kills immersion. Then I got an x90j…. The lack of dimming zones sucks, the dirty screen look in games around HUDS is bad and I ALREADY got a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Sony says 9 are acceptable… If you game, NONE are acceptable lol 😑. Now I’m gonna try the QN90B and get the total tech Best Buy warranty. I don’t trust the longevity of this overpriced new technology 🤔
Just ordered the qn90b 85 inch at Best Buy. I am a bit concerned that I will not love it as I got the Sony a80j 65 for the bedroom. Main reason I went with the qn90b was a. It will be a living room tv b. My father lives with me now and it will see higher usage and c. It was cheaper than the c1 83 which was what I am debating against. I am coming from is a Samsung plasma f8500. Did I make the right choice with the qn90b or should I cancel and go with the c1 83 inch since I just got oled a80j recently and may notice all the things about non oled TVs? Thanks!
I'm in a very similar situation. Got the qn93b 75" because it was cheaper than c1/c2/g1/g2. And sony a84j 55" is going to the bed room. And we are watching in a bright room which may make it better to have a bright TV. So I'm curious if you ended up keeping the Samsung or returned it?
I just bought that thing and I can't hold myself. I'm on a constant eyegasm. Literally the best f@cking TV I've ever seen in my life, coming from a Sony tv user for about 10 years now, literally unmatched in everything else that exists out there. I'm gonna have to pay it for 4 months but totally worth it. 😂
just got myself one but when watching movies thru the ps5 and on the preinstalled apps, its like the quality is reduced even on the 4k hdr content and there is noise everywhere, cant seem to fix that
You're completely right about Tizen: I own an S95B and the OS / UI is a MESS! They should be forbidden to do that! - 1/3 of the screen is a giant Samsung TV app ad?! - everytime the TV tries to "escape" from an app or normal DTV to Samsung TV! (Often I had to change the settings again) - the UI is not smooth at all! I came from a butter smooth Google TV (Nvidia Shield TV) UI to this mess and, like you, many times I press the remote buttons and it does nothing. I have to wait some 10 seconds, that the TV reacts. Sometimes I try to change some picture mode and the TV freezes for a couple of seconds. WT.? ... - it "smells" ads - a lot of pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled (I don't use any cloud gaming or Apple TV+ apps and nevertheless they must stay...). So the TV still presents ads from those apps!
Does the size of the screen need to be considered when looking for best qled tvs. I am wanting the 85 inch and all of the reviews seem to be on the standard 65".
Does this dude have a deal with Sony or something? Look at the halo around Cole Hauser’s head on the x95k at around the 5:00 mark. How can you say that’s good shadow detail when it does stuff like that?
If you are not a gamer what are the best media sources that take advantage of all the QN90B has to offer? Do media streaming devices (FireTV, Chromecast, Roku, AppleTV) support 4K at 120hz and dynamic HDR etc. Does cable tv support the full capabilities of this tv? Which devices can take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 ports besides gaming consoles?
Good question but I had the 75" Q95T and it was replaced under warranty for a failed wifi module they upgraded me to the QN90B I've got the PS5 and Series X so I use two of the 2.1 ports and it's amazing 👏
QN90B if you don't need anti-glare and you want the best in HDR movies. But if you are hanging up art in a room (like me, Frame is my background TV) and need it to look natural with light/glare all around, then only the Frame can do this - 2 different TVs with diverse purposes. Frame is at best an average TV for SDR sources but is the only TV you can hang in a vertical orientation (up to 65")
@Stop The FOMO I've been telling myself this. Yes OLEDs have the best Blacks, but when we're watching content are we watching black background scenes with fruits falling down in slow motion? No, most content we watch is colored. However OLEDs still have the better viewing angles but are we really watching tvs from the side? What I also think is that OLEDs still have better detail than Mini Leds. Anyways I already bought a 55" Samsung S95B for $1530 on Amazon Prime Day a few days ago. But was thinking to return it and get the 55" Samsung QN90B. What should I do?
@@johnb4905the differences between the Qn90b and S95b are pretty substantial. I didn’t think it would be by so much initially either, but the more you look at it the worse the Qn90b, as good as it is, starts to look. It’s brighter, but outside of that the contrast is much worse, and the color luminance especially shows itself on the S95b to the point where the Qn90b looks washed out. Even when both are set to their most accurate color modes.

@@lumenrt.1373 No I haven't but since my TV is new I haven't watched a lot hdr content..yet!
I see a whole lot of people saying they prefer the 1211 Firmware.
Great video
You are the best TV reviewer , thank you
Great video!
Yeah I'm buying the QN92B what is the difference?
Any recommendations or info on the dimming bug if I buy a new QN90b. I plan on getting on soon as my Tv is so old and I can get a good deal on this TV with some work discounts. Just hoping to get the Tv and not immediately have an issue. Let me know cheers!
Just got a 77" C1 OLED for cheap. Only $2600. Super happy. Will last me 5 years easily without an upgrade. Best tv for movies, tv, and gaming.
You really, really need to evaluate DSE!
I heard you were getting the QNED85. How does it stack up against the QN85B?
THANK YOU! I'm so tired of hearing the counter points.
Thanks.
Very exciting TV! Is the Costco QN90BD the same TV?
Costco just dropped the price on the QN90A 65 to $1299 plus tax. includes 5 yr warr. I ordered it and also a Samsung HW-Q7CB soundbar for $379 on sale from $599. I was going to wait for black friday for the QN90B but the price drop got me buying the last gen tech. I cant wait to try Q-Symphony.
Hi, at 5:08 you have an audio issue - it looks like you have an additional audio track of dialogue.
Have you noticed color banding issues with the QN90B especially in dark scenes?
im about to pull the trigger on this over the LG C1/C2!
What do you think is the better choice? 85QN85B (with VA Panel) for less money or the 85QN90B?
@stop the fomo Which QN90B You preffered before 1204 (at the begging) or now after update 1302?
What's better the QN 90b or the LG C1 that I presently have, thank you
How about the teal issue from last years qn90a? is the qn90b better now? Greetz from switzerland
You need to change your channel name to "I START THE FOMO"
Just bought this tv a week ago and tbh it's just wow it's really that good check all the boxes
It happened once before with a dishwasher and they just replaced me with a new one like no biggy. I hope it never comes to that as for my experience with samsung products has been great so far all my smartphones fridge drycleaner even the microwave lmao is from them. Now that i think about it holy shit 🤣🤣

would the blooming be worse on this tv if i were to buy the 55 inch over the 65 and by how much?
I thought its QD-OLED when i saw it in store, perfect deep blacks
Hey what do you think is a better TV outta of the X85K are the QN90B
I had a qn900a and now a qn900b and noticed both had some local dimming issues with standard picture mode. I set movie mode to the exact same settings as standard and there is no issue and local dimming works perfectly. Is this something you could check?!
I love my QN90B! I'm team bright highest over oled and the QN90B delivers!
Ayeee same here hi 5
Love this tv. Just bought it
@@JBlakeS23 😏✌️🔥🔥🔥
Qn85c samsung 55 is absolutely crazy tv , hooked up on the ps5
I hope Sony x95k brings also some update to be better compitotor to 90b. I like Google TV more plus motion with xr processor. Looking forward for big shootout this month
I have the QN90A, which is pretty much the same tv. I love it but the DSE on these panels is crap. It's not noticeable in normal content but as soon as sports come on or a lighter image, it's there. I especially notice it on an angle where it looks like vertical lines.
Any differences between the sizes? Read somewhere there is no anti-glare treatment below 55".
Another point that Rtings mentioned about the QN90B on their updated July review is the Stutter issue with slow panning shots.
Thanks.

Hi ! Are you planning on a qn900b review ? thanks!
Waiting for LG QNED and Hisense mini-led TVs. I know the Dolby Vision isn't that big of a deal but if the Hisense can offer dolby vision and isn't that much worse in terms of blooming/blacks, it'll be hard to justify spending the extra money on the Samsung.
Glad you got a good panel bud! Wait till you see the qn900b it’s 🔥🔥🔥
Hello! Thanks for the test and full review! Would anyone have a comparison with QN95B?
I’m receiving QN85B next week. So. Do you recommend me to upgrade FW to 1302? Or not just for avoid the local dimming bug??
You liked the QN85B?
I figured out and fixed the slow latency on the new Tizen system by repairing your samsung solar remote control. I did that and now the system and the slow response time have completed gone away. Its perfect now. I have the 85 inch QN90B.
How did you repair the remote?
Hey, is the local dimming has been fixed? I just bought the tv and I am currently worried.
Thanks
well.. is it fixed? :p the qn90a gaming mode was a nightmare
Been hearing mixed reviews I'm wanting to get one soon and I'm in the uk so I'm torn between the qn94a vs qn90b and I want really good blacks and minimal to no blooming
Are you planning on reviewing the Z9K?
@fomo are you going to compare the 90b vs the 900b?
Love u FOMO!
I have a 75" QN88B here in Canada. What is the equivalent ?
Viewing distance is 9 - 11 feet. Currently using Samsung 70 inch Qled. I want to get your input if you have time. Thank you.
is it still worth it to buy a 2020 model tv in 2022?
How does QNED 85s compares to this TV?
Audio sync issues with QN90B. First day, FW 1304 audio through built in speakers on all apps out of sync pass 10 minutes. Pause/play solves it for another 10 minutes. Change and reset audio to deafult, didn't solve it. Turn on the tv on the next day with no issues, but this time I plug TDT antenna and HDMI from Cable Provider. I hope it isn't related to some kind of throttling bacause of high temp in hdmi zone.
I purchased
Sony X90J (JUDDER PROBLEM)
Sony A90K (TOO DARK)
Then
SAMSUNG QN90B
Close to perfection.
Sony says 9 are acceptable…
If you game, NONE are acceptable lol 😑.
Now I’m gonna try the QN90B and get the total tech Best Buy warranty.
I don’t trust the longevity of this overpriced new technology 🤔
dear sir, i want to buy the qn90b but how high of a chance is this local dimming failure rate?
Did you try the z9k?
How is the qn90b interpolation? Is the soap opera effect good? Is 24p also good?
Going to do that too. I use a 48” C1 in my bedroom mainly as a monitor for my pc, and a 75” QN90B will go in the living room.
Is QN90AA a good TV Im after 98" size.
just got myself one but when watching movies thru the ps5 and on the preinstalled apps, its like the quality is reduced even on the 4k hdr content and there is noise everywhere, cant seem to fix that
You're completely right about Tizen: I own an S95B and the OS / UI is a MESS! They should be forbidden to do that!
- 1/3 of the screen is a giant Samsung TV app ad?!
- everytime the TV tries to "escape" from an app or normal DTV to Samsung TV! (Often I had to change the settings again)
- the UI is not smooth at all! WT.? ...
- it "smells" ads
- a lot of pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled (I don't use any cloud gaming or Apple TV+ apps and nevertheless they must stay...). So the TV still presents ads from those apps!
same as the lg c2
So for hdr and sdr and gaming should I turn off contrast enhancer be off?
How does Black Frame Insertion works on these TVs?
Yeah the no D.V. and just the Q.C. issues now a days I wouldn't get it! But great video!!!
Rtings has the QN90A beating the QN90B with black levels and local dimming. I’m going to get last years model while they still have.
Does the size of the screen need to be considered when looking for best qled tvs. I am wanting the 85 inch and all of the reviews seem to be on the standard 65".
Bigger screen is higher chance of bad screen uniformity and DSE.
Does this dude have a deal with Sony or something? Look at the halo around Cole Hauser’s head on the x95k at around the 5:00 mark. How can you say that’s good shadow detail when it does stuff like that?
thank you
If you are not a gamer what are the best media sources that take advantage of all the QN90B has to offer? Do media streaming devices (FireTV, Chromecast, Roku, AppleTV) support 4K at 120hz and dynamic HDR etc. Does cable tv support the full capabilities of this tv? Which devices can take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 ports besides gaming consoles?
Good question but I had the 75" Q95T and it was replaced under warranty for a failed wifi module they upgraded me to the QN90B I've got the PS5 and Series X so I use two of the 2.1 ports and it's amazing 👏
Can anyone suggest me which 4k is good qn90b vs x95k ?
Will you review the TCL C845?
Are you planning to look at the new Hisense u8h series at all?
I don't think the U8H is out in NA yet
Is HDR10+ as good as Dolby Vision?
Do you recommend this over the 85inch Samsung Frame? It will be in a very bright room with lots of windows
QN90B if you don't need anti-glare and you want the best in HDR movies. But if you are hanging up art in a room (like me, Frame is my background TV) and need it to look natural with light/glare all around, then only the Frame can do this - 2 different TVs with diverse purposes. Frame is at best an average TV for SDR sources but is the only TV you can hang in a vertical orientation (up to 65")
@@stopthefomo Thank you! That distinction really helps
Are you running version T-PTMUABC-1304.1, BT-5
@Stop The FOMO
I've been telling myself this.
What should I do?
why would you return what you didn't like?
You don’t seem to understand the benefits of pixel level light control across the full spectrum of colors.
