Just a FYI, the Road King RKCB cb radio is the uniden 78 ltx. Its rebranded for the Road King brand. You can find them at truck stops like pilot, flying j and love's. Thought I'd give you that tidbit. Got one I use as a back up radio in my truck. Good receive and good power on it.
The 68 LTW’s have always been one of my favorites. I have a bunch of them . I’m really impressed with the newer style on your bench today . Great numbers and still that classic look with upgraded panel lighting
Did up an old dumpster diamond and gave it to my Son. An early 90's Uniden PC66XL. That little chatter box is a talker also. Definitely are unoticed radios...until you key down! Did a mid 90's Cobra 25LTD Classic. You'd think that was a bigger radio, also. Great work, Matt. Smilin', I'm off the key. 😑🦗
Thanks for your efforts to demo and tune this radio. I have a Uniden PC 78LTX (SMD) which has a hot receive. It has phenomenal sensitivity, but it also is extremely sensitive to outside noise issues such as LED road signs and white various White noises. Overall it is an exceptional value.
Looks like there all pretty hot mine was close to those numbers out of the box Uniden audio now it’s my backup for now loving that 929 to much since Matt went through it
I had a PC68 (no letters after the model number) and crammed it into a cubby in the dash of my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD pickup. Also had a PC76 (might have been a 78, I don't remember) in another vehicle.
I have 2 Uniden PC68 XL one is 2000 got friend of mine long time ago but needs some work done to on Channel selection leds to light up again also 2 stage led in RX/ TX plus Channel 9 to light up 40 Channel cube to ! Also have 2004 one in mint condition nothing wrong with it at all and loud plus proud too got everything radio comes with except paperwork also box came in ! Got chrome bracket plus original stock microphone of Bearcat one in mint shape to and hardware too!
I got a uniden pc 78ltx with ranger echo board variable power radio does 9w rms 43w peak bird radio costed me 225 to my door I like these new uniden radios they are better than cobra's
When your taking radios I have this radio (is new) I’d like done and I have some log truck drivers that would love some work done and they have a pile of radios to choose from that’d be awesome!
Matt I'm not trying to tell you how to run your CB repair shop or anything like that I think you do a awesome job and good work but I came up with a idea that next time you work on your website like say if somebody orders a radio from you that in the modification section on your website to put a add to cart feature under each modification you offer that way if they don't have no way to call you it will be easier for people to check out
Hi Matt. Nice radio and Uniden has a classic look! Are you taking order’s for new radio’s or are you waiting to get your backlog of radios done. Thanks pal!
@@TheRadioGarage one of my friends at work got the 78 right after I got the 68 it seems to be a great radio also a lot of people have turned their noise at them for being surface mount radios and non adjustable receivers but they are in my opinion better than what cobra has let the 29 become and for what they cost run it till she quits and buy another one
I have a uniden pc88Elite I had it peaked and tuned every body says it sounds good I haven't checked it myself and really don't feel not know what the shop really did to it but it's a great redio I love it. But I was wondering if you could do some mods for me on it I've been watching you channel and really like your work? Let me know if you could do anything with my redio? thanks
Ok so I took my radio in and had it peaked & tuned and I ask him is there anything else I can do to get it to talk out . He said nope , so I’m asking u what else could I do to this PC 68? Also what do you charge?
@@TheRadioGarage thanks for the confirmation sir. I have a Uniden 78LTX heading my way in the box. Pretty excited to get my hands on it and open her up. I couldn't find any information on this radio anywhere. Any links or tips would be much appreciated sir👍
@@TheRadioGarage Hmm!! Not sure, but if Hobbies is who I think he is, He has been in Comms for over 50 years. Again, not sure. He was, or even may be, a Comms expert with the U.S.C.G. Hmm you happen to see a comment from someone you might know (on a video months old) right after I reply..what a coincidence 😉 ..I'm sure hobbies is very, very smart..take care
I noticed at full power you didn't show avg audio out-put, swing, I'm sure you will have downward and sound like crap. I would hear and see a lot of downward audio/power. PEP is BS, changing the 2-inch power wire to a larger ga. inside is a waste of time, BS. You are just selling up the custom with useless BS.
If it's been done up like my 78LTX, it should have forward average power swing like mine does whether the variable power is all the way up or down. These radios have lots of modulation. The mic gain on mine has to definitely be cut back. On the other hand with the mic gain at 3:00, a Ranger SRA198 noise canceling mic does not have to be jammed in mouth to get good modulation. Same goes for an Astatic 636L noise canceling mic.

No not taking new orders yet really. I am getting in some 78ltx's though that I will be selling.
@@TheRadioGarage would take an order from the Caribbean for one of those 78's?
Matt what’s the best way to contact you? I’d like to get on the books for one of these, done up…when your books open of course! New sub fyi….
I Have Two Of Them, but the Boards Are Older, When can I send Them? New Year Wave, Later
I have one of those they are good radios wish I had gotten the 78 the 68 is almost to small if you mount them on the dashboard of a big truck
Once the 78 comes back in stock I'm going to try one out for sure.

I know right!! Lol
What's the difference between the unit and 68? And the roku classic of the United 78 and the roadking 56 radios.

I'm guessing the internals of the 78 LTX is the same kinda like how Cobra 25 and very close to a 29 internally.
Yes that's correct

I wish thwre were tutorials on how to do this
Do you have a video on the new cobra 19 if not will you do one thanks
Great work as always Matt ! Finally able to log in here ! Looking foward to seeing my Washington on your bench
No not yet, will do one though eventually
That would be great thank you
How much would one cost to my door with peak and tune alignment with variable power and one of those new Palomar trbx4 echo board installed
Check site for pricing. I have a "services & mods" page. Also for radio prices go to the store page. Thanks 73
How much bleed are you getting tho? That much power bleeding across 3-4 channels..
Tuned for clean audio on the oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, no flat topping or pinching. Sorry nice try though
@@TheRadioGarage Was wondering... That is all... Because you hear a lot of untuned rigs bleeding across all the time...
what is a power choke?
Will these do 100% modulation from the factory with a tune?
Yes
Could you do a President Walker.
I'll look into it
I've been thinking of buying one but not sure of there upgrade abilities. 🤔
Does it come with SSB !??🏍️
No unfortunately
