All these ETA movement and copies suffer from a poor manual winding especially the PT5000. For longevity your advice is spot on. I have had several PT5000 one for 18 months and they are reliable and very accurate. HK have worked on improving the lubricating . They have developed the PT5000 for micro brands so they have an interest in reliability.
A nice review but I differ in opinion as to the "addition of the date window" being the biggest difference. I would consider the difference in movements (ETA/SW200/PT5000 vs the Sopod) and the difference in price as being the biggest differences.
Never heard of them but 2 emails and a RUclips drop this week featuring them, seems like a marketing push for the latest soon disappearing Chinese knockoff/homage Also available homage to PRK and Pelagos
I almost bought the Serica when they came out. $1,500 is a bit much for a micro brand. It is a beautiful watch but wears a little small after wearing divers/Breitlings/ and other 40mm+ cases for a while.
Great review, but I do have an "big picture" observation... To say that this is a "homage" watch, to a watch that is in itself an homage watch is a circular argument. The watches that the both the SERICA And the IPOSE are paying homage to, are the Omega Seamaster 300 & the 50 fathoms. To say that one is the homage-of-the-homage just seems to be completely silly. The fact the Serica made it first is frankly pointless, especially when the Chinese homage was better than the "original homage". I'm saving my $1000 Dollars and buying the IPOSE - Thank you!
I saw somewhere that the "better font" (imo at least) is available for the SW200/ETA. Not sure if that was done in V2/V3 or if it was there from V1 too
Homaging microbrands makes me sad for those microbrands. These small companies do all the work for someone to just copy them and try to steal a piece of their customer base. Homaging the large brands, I understand more. It doesn't make a dent for them.
Yeah, But this microband couldn't be bothered to get a reliable movement. And were terrible with customer service for the watches that were bought with the faulty movements.... People got shafted. So in this one case... It really doesn't bother me. I don't trust the company at all
That's fair, they did completely change the movement now. I'll admit I'm biased because I pre-ordered one of the new ones. I just am in love with the design. I hope to have no issues, and don't expect to given all the changes, including QC. I hope they succeed because their design is knocking it out of the park.@@ramspencer5492

I don't understand why more brands don't use the Seagull ST2130
I have the V2 black dial with the Sellita movement. I believe the PT5000 is the only version with that odd date font.
odd date font? wasn't he the token premier of Vietnam back in the 1950's? Back when the French ran the place.

I purchased this watch in the Tandorio brand without the date complication, So far it has been an excellent timepiece.
Not quite the same quality
Solid review and nice watch.

“Heavy homage” come on man they totally ripped off the serica and you know it
Damn I wish there wasn’t a date window 😢
The Tandorio doesn't have the date, I bought mine off of eBay....nice watch.
me too. also, quick question. what is a date window? it that when a girl can go out with you? like Monday or Tuesday, but not Wednesday?
It is a rip-off not a homeage.
Ain't life a bitch..
I don’t think you know the difference
