This song is so beautiful not just Minami's vocals which are also beautiful but the story that the song tells, and the animation. This song can only be called a masterpiece and nothing else, this song is 10/10 and you cant say otherwise

誰も気づいてないけど、ラストのmy worldの部分のロングトーン、hiF→hiG#→hiFという、フザけた高さです。分からない人向けに分かりやすく言うと、hiFはロマンスの神様の最高音と同じ高さ、hiG#は、広瀬香美の曲の中で1番高い曲よりも高く、ずとまよの地声最高音と同じ高さです。
美波はハイトーン歌手の中でもかなり高い部類になりますね。控えめに言って凄すぎる。

it is often the case if language you learn is not your mother tongue. English isn't my native language, I personally started to learn it like 2 years ago on my own and by now I can say for sure that my English grammar is kinda better than grammar of my mother tongue and I even can explain why I write something in English the way I wrote it and often I can't do the same when it comes to my native language, I really remember grammar points while my mother tongue... I just use it the habitual way not even thinking about rules and stuff but habitual way is not always a right way

I'm speechless. The lyrics remind me of Hanekawa from Monogatari and how she, like the girl in the clip, is trapped within her fake self, unable to surface. Like a spectator of her own life, watching her alternate, "ideal" self dictate her every action and word. 5min 20 of pure emotion. Absolute masterpiece, please make this an opening.

The raw emotion from this song is unbelievably vivid. Kids are keen on stuff like this. It's like you not just feel it, but can actually see Minami break down from sadness while singing. Unreal talent.

I'd been listening to this song for years and I know that people tend to say "this song has saved me" a lot when it's not actually like that. But this one really did. The lyrics and powerful melody, your emotional voice, had shaken my soul up. Made me realise I'd been miserable because I tried to become that "perfect reflection". And I took the pledge "I won't lie to you again". It wasn't easy at first, of course. But now, years later, I've come very close to living as my true self, to becoming aware of what it is that I truly want, not what other people want me to be like. And I feel so much happier, the future seems bright. Thank you so much!

This song is so deep. We kill ourselves to fit in with others, satisfy others, and this process starts to create a new me.
My understanding of this song.
The girl in the white one-piece is the original girl. In order to fit in with others, she started to act differently, which created the new her; the girl in the black one-piece. This led her to create two personalities: The real her(white one-piece) and the fake her(black one-piece).
Slowly, she loses her understanding of herself. She doesn't know if she was the "real" her or not. The "fake" girl took over and became the "original". The "real" girl was then trapped inside the "fake" girl. She attempts to gain herself back by killing the other "her", as shown towards the end. However, the image changes to the "real" girl getting choked by someone(probably the "fake"). Then, it switches back and forth until the "real" and "fake" girls are shown choking themselves.
The "real" girl thought that by "killing" the "fake" girl, she can become herself again. But in the end, she ended up killing herself.
Though we try to act differently to superficially satisfy others and blend into a larger group, it is only killing our true emotions and hiding them away, deep inside ourselves. What an accurate representation of society. This was very sad yet it was so relatable and beautiful. I love Minami san.

I wanna hear the live version so much all this years..now I just got back from her live tour in Kuala Lumpur, i swear that high note part at 4:46 is not an exaggeration. 三拍子のリズムは軽快な印象があるけど、美波はそれと真逆で重くのしかかるような曲調に仕上げていて、天才としか言えない。
はじめから最後まで全てがサビくらいの存在感があって、その中でもテンポが遅くなるサビの壮大さがもう私の語彙力では表せません。

Anyone else think the moments she does speak English is prob the best part of the music in terms of lyrics, it just sounds amazing.And her English is really nice too.
You don't need to know the meaning of the lyrics to understand that she's hurt, she's mad and she also want to live..but it's so hard huh, being your true self, with out being judge. Guess we're all waiting for someone to see the true us. To see the real us and still accept. That is, if there's still someone out there.

this song is such a gem, the emotion behind it is ( I guess as usual for minami) incredibly powerful and I can feel like she means every word she says, absolutely beautiful

No I wholeheartedly disagree with this, I lost who I am and never made efforts to return to any social standard. I'm just trying to find anything that turns this dead machine on from time to time. Losing your identity sucks, what it meant to me was to give up every little bit of what I was for a girl that ended up using me. That was the second time I lost it all, that was november last year. First time was when I became one hell of a nihilist not believing in meaning of anything.
The point I'm making is that I started living seperated from social expectations. Probably means my live will be miserable but I cannot make work with anything anyone wants me to be.
