He hītōria, he kawa, he tikanga kei ia o ā tātou rākau whawhai. Hei te tau nei, ka whakanuia e rātou te 40 tau o te kaupapa nei, ka whakapōtaehia hoki te reanga Pouwaru hou. Ko rātou e whakatinana ana i te kōrero, 'Mā te whiu o te mamae, me te ngau o te kuru, ka taea e koe te kite.’
Te Whare Tū Taua has been a stalwart of knowledge pertaining to all our most adept Māori weaponry users. Their foundation is based on the revitalisation of our tāonga handed down to us by our most prestigious ancestors. This artform carries our history and customs. This year they celebrate 40 years with an event that also sees the next generation of Pouwaru, the highest rank possible in Te Whare Tū Taua. This next generation who personify the belief that enlightenment can be found through the pains gained through experience.
