- Actor and adventurer Brian Blessed started climbing in the Derbyshire Peak District as a small boy growing up in nearby Yorkshire. He returned to back a campaign to raise funds for the national park's trails built on former Victorian railway lines.
And he gave the BBC's Tom Ingall a lesson in voice projection to test the acoustic of one of the structures.

I worked with Brian once on "Ascent of the Red Planet". After a few weeks of working with him (including tons of moments where we were doing scenes from Shakespeare and Star Trek TNG where he played Picard (played by his good friend Patrick Stewart) and I played every other role)), he was wrapping up and asked me if there was anythng he could do for me before he left. I replied, "Well Brian, I don't know if you know, but Flash Gordon is my favorite film." He said, "I thought so..." . So, I asked, "Could you once, in person, say 'My Hawk men, dive!!!!' for me?" He reolied, "Only if you say it with me." I said, "Of course, yes!" Then a moment later we both were screaming, "My Hawkmen, DIIIIIVVVVEEE!!!!". So awesome!
You can now count yourself as being "Blessed".
