I used to live in Marshal NC....about 30 miles outside of Ashville. ...had to move back to long island about 2yrs ago.. (divorce )...but not a day goes by that I dont think about or miss my cabin, the town or that part of NC!! It looked like u may have been close to where i lived, everyone waves as u drive by...so friendly! ! Marshal welcomed my family & accepted us "Yankees" I thought it might have been an issue being so deep into the south in a small town...but they gave us a chance and it turned out tobe a great fit....my boys LOVED IT and acclimated super fast to country living...they had the time of their lives! ...... We all lost my ny accent real quick living there also I might add lmao!! .....Moving back as soon as I can God willing.

Rock on, brother!! PS-I just rode the Blue Ridge Parkway on my Monster. You're right about NC. Some really amazing twisty roads.

I had to chuckle over this guys excitement over a few curves in the road...Living in the mountains of western NC for 35 years now ( I fled Miami in 1982 when it got crazy down there ), I would not live anywhere else. The people are wonderful neighbors, we have no violent crime, no gangs or homeless people ( read that as NO BLACKS ) and the air is clean, the water is fresh and tasty and I can leave my house unlocked and not worry about thieves...if you come here though leave your smart ass city ways behind....you won't change the locals and we don't tolerate liberal nonsense.

I also checked the real estate market, and in seems to be very affordable compared to Southern California. There should be minimal air pollution if any. I love it. Yes! NC is a beautiful state, with gorgeous mountains and beaches. Food is great too. I recommend the Raleigh area (being very biased) when it comes for places to live.
