There seems to be a misconception that ther's a one-size-fits-all squat foot placement, and that's simply not true!
If you have read our blog 'Why Your Squat Depth Is The Way It Is' ( tommorrison.uk... ) then you will see that there are so many different factors that will dictate how low you can get with a neutral spine, and what way you'll rotate your feet.
Another thing to consider is that different squats have different demands, e.g. a front squat vs a back squat, depending on how you hold the bar and where the weight is.
You’ll notice in a Front Squat or Goblet Squat is most likely deeper than your Back Squat, then with a demanding position like the Overhead Squat you may notice that your knees are required to be in a different position.
The real point of this video is to get you to start to have a wiggle and experiment to find YOUR best squat for you without just assuming that yours isn’t great, maybe you just need to have a tinker with foot positioning and stance and you’ll be ok!

Glad you have this video. It took me a long time to realize that most of the information on squating is garbage. All you hear is toes straight, feet hip width apart, "one size fits all". Just doesn't work, especially when you are tall and your inseam makes up more than half of your height. Anyway, just wanted to say I was glad to see this video. 🤪😁🤣
Thanks so much for this! I've always felt like I'm going to topple over when I squat with a narrow stance and feet facing fwd. Every body is different - I know that already but it's great to hear this from someone who really knows what they're talking about 👍
Oh yeah! I’m a wide squatter and toes out too! The power squat I call it 😎
@@TomMorrison Great to know I'm in good company. Fellow power squatters unite!
Hi Tom great video , any tips for having a slight curve in my spine because I seem to get some pain in my spine when I squat
I am flexible like Jenny, and watching her pull in her abs and tuck her butt before squatting was super helpful.
Hi great vedeo but please dump the grap music
Great advice. After years of trying to force myself to low bar squat I've settled on a high bar squat with a widish stance and sitting back a little. Very similar to what some call the hybrid squat.
Awesome vid
How heavy is that kettle bell?!!!
It’s a competition bell think it was maybe 10 or 12kg, they just look more 😂
What would you recommend for twisted squat mate?
Can be a few things going on either rotation different side to side, ankle mobility different on one side or even tightness in the obliques, SMM is really the best thing to go through as it hits everything, does one of your feet want to point out more than the other?
@@TomMorrison Thankyou so much ive been doing SMM and had great results in all the test think my left hip is stubborn to external rotation the right wants to open up because of it
Plz put English subtitles for hard of hearing
i'm Dutch and can perfectly understand what he is saying at 1,5 speed. Not sure if ur trolling
@@florism8647 maybe he meant hearing impaired... Also as a Dutch speaker it would be embarrassing if you didn't understand him xD
