I used to come to the Detroit area every summer to visit my grandparents, and we would always go to Dearborn once or twice to see the museum and greenfield. It was the best part of the trip each time! I love riding the train!
*The 0-6-4 Mason shown here* uses the Stephenson valve gear typical of the 1870's, but an 1880's build by the same works would be one of the first U. S. locomotives to use the Walschaerts drive invented in one of the German states.
The torch lake is over 150 years old and was a mining locomotive, The Edison was built at the rouge ford plant in the 30's, and there's now a recently repaired baldwin 4-4-0 that hauled coal at the rouge plant.
Wow! That Steam locomotive at Green Village reminds me of Anacortes #1 on The Anacortes Railway in Washington State. I seen The Anacortes Railway on my VHS Copy of Awesome Trains 2.
I go here all the time and my favorite part is the TRAIN!

When I was there a month or so ago, they were running the Edison engine. Both are nice engines.
