  • This video shows a progression of a number of drills and training exercises that can help develop power and accuracy while training the Choy Li Fut form Siu Jin Kuen. There are plenty more exercises out there to continue the development, especially with partner drills, mittwork, and heavybag work, but these can all be done with little to no extra equipment.
    ➵➵Workout 1:
    ● Jumping Jacks - 100
    ● Chair Kicks - 10 right and left for each kick
    ● Half Fist Push Up Holds - 30 sec (x2) on knees
    ● Horse Stance - 1 Minute
    ● Isometric Form - Do the form slowly with all muscles contracted the entire time
    ● Tiger Claw Open and Close - 1 minute
    ● Stretch
    ➵➵Workout 2 Accuracy Training
    (Start stationary with single strikes, then combinations, then add footwork)
    ● T Shirt Accuracy - Combos and Shadowboxing aiming at specific targets on a t-shirt (simulates an opponent's torso size)
    ● Ring Punching - Single punches and combinations through the ring
    ● Stretch
    ➵➵Workout 3 (weight vest not necessary)
    ● Jogging - 3 km
    ● Lunge Kicks - 10 each side (x2)
    ● Half Fist Push Up Holds - 30 sec (x2) no knees
    ● Tennis Ball Toss and Catch - 1 min (x2)
    ● Select Combinations from Form (x5 each combo)
    ● Shadow Boxing - 5min
    ● Stretch
    ➵➵Workout 4 (sweat suit not necessary)
    ● Sprints (x5)
    ● Half Fist Push Ups - 10 (x3)
    ● Form with 3 repetitions of each movement
    ● Shadow Boxing - 5min
    ● Stretch

    This video was awesome, this really uplifts my day because a couple months ago my Choy li fut school I attended before I joined the military shut down and watching this form really reminded me the great times I had while learning Choy Li Fut.

    Production value: 💯. I love how explosive the moves are, and how they’re supported by grounded foot work. Never would’ve thought to use the ring or t-shirt for target practice. Definitely going to incorporate that in my training. Amazing as always, Sifu 🖤

    I find these movements similar to Savate. In Savate there is this idea 💡 of using the body like a Bow and pulling the body back and releasing

    • @SifuKuttel
      @SifuKuttel  2 года назад +2

      Yes, we have similar ideas in Choy Li Fut as well. It's amazing how much the arts share, and yet how they remain unique!

    How odd! In CLF, they don't make fists! What is the reason behind it?

    • @SifuKuttel
      @SifuKuttel  Год назад +1

      They do, but the half fists are the next step up. This is not to say that one is more effective than the other, it is more of using a specific punch for a specific target in application.

    The position of the fingers remind me a lot of leopard fist kung fu.

    • @SifuKuttel
      @SifuKuttel  Год назад +1

      Yes, there are many fist positions that are signature to Leopard style, but in CLF their names don't specify leopard, which make them pretty universal. However, they are almost exclusively used in the CLF Leopard form with only a couple of full fist techniques.
