I had some of the best years of my life at CNU. I found a best friend who is still my best friend to this day. I had so many campus jobs and joined so many clubs, service frats, and honor societies. I am so proud of CNU then and today. I came in as a transfer student in my junior year, attracted to the smaller class sizes, more personal feel to the culture, and gorgeous campus. I made more memories here than most get in 4 years at any school. The overactive culture at CNU made those 2 years some of the best of my life and gave me the drive and experience to open my own business. All of this and more was possible thanks to the incredible work you've done for our school. Thank you so much for making all of this possible for me and for so many students. Enjoy your retirement President Trible and First Lady Rosemary!
I graduated in 1999, and remember when you joined CNU. The positive changes began almost immediately. The gravel parking lot was paved. Standing in line to register every semester went online (finally!). New equipment and classrooms. An overhauled lab building. The stadium, and on and on. Today when I visit I can barely recognize the campus, but that's a good thing. Thank you! God bless and best wishes to you and your family!
When your Freshman calls to say she is having a Bible study with Rosemary Trible and a Peanut Butter sandwich - that is a place you know your child belongs! You have changed so many lives and we will be forever grateful for the guidance you gave our daughter.
I was an officer in Student Government when President Trible came to CNU. I will never forget when he invited us to his office, he looked out the window and said “let me tell you what I see when I look out at this campus”. What he described was exactly what the campus looks like at the beginning of this video. It was impossible to imagine such a thing back then, but it is a life lesson I have carried with me on the importance of setting a vision and dedicating yourself to making it reality. President Trible embodied that.
Paul, about 24 years ago, as Commander of Air Combat Command, I was chairman of the Combined Federal Campaign and you were chairman of the United Way's annual fund drive. You invited me to your office at CNU to discuss coordination of those two important charitable endeavors and as i left you showed me a diorama of the future CNU in the hallway outside your office. It was a tangible representation of your vision for what has become a world class university. I left impressed by the ambition of that vision, but at least a little bit skeptical that you could pull it off. You have done that and much more. Newport News and the broader Tidewater have been transformed thanks to your commitment to that vision for CNU. Thank you, Dick Hawley
As the parents of a proud CNU alumnus (and currently completing her Master's there) and previous contributors to the President's Circle, we have enjoyed the opportunity to meet you and Rosemary on a couple of occasions. My wife and I still talk about when we toured CNU with our daughter and heard you speak to the assembled tour guests -- you made us wish we were enrolling there ourselves! The character and integrity of the students on campus left us amazed every time we visited, and that is due to fine principles of leadership and integrity that you passed down directly to them, as well as through the faculty ranks. CNU and the Trible name will always be synonymous for her, and us. Thank you for your many years of leadership, vision, and love for CNU and its students.
Farewell President Trible! Thank you for your many years of service to our school and building it into a truly fantastic university. I wish you and your family all the best and hope you enjoy your well-earned retirement.
God bless you President and Mrs. Trible. You have led by example of what a Life of Significance can and should be. Your clear vision, passion and unyielding faith in the young men and women who graced CNU campus will be a positive legacy long after you are gone. Thank you for being a positive force, we are all better for what you have accomplished. God speed in your next chapter, and know you will be missed.
I have very fond memories of being at the Presidents house and seeing P Trib and Rosemary interact with every student they can. It was apparent then, as it is now in this video, that you loved our school. Thanks for all you have done for CNU.
Thank you for all you've done President Trible. As the parent of a CNU graduate, I can tell you his education and experience at CNU was life changing for him. What you have accomplished in 26 years is miraculous. You have truly lived a life of significance and our entire family wishes you the best.
Thank you President Trible and Rosemary for having the vision to see what a local commuter college could become. I am so proud of our Alma Mater and the work you have accomplished. Enjoy your retirement knowing you have a forever family at Christopher Newport.
Thank you for always making me feel welcome at CNU President Trible. Whether it was walking around campus or in the gym locker room, you always took time to say hello and see how I was doing. The education I received at CNU was exceptional. It all starts with leadership, and you are somebody I continue to look up to in that regard. Our country needs more leaders like you! Best wishes to you and your family as you begin this new chapter!
Thank you so much President Trible for your leadership and bringing your humanity into your role as President of this wonderful university. My son has blossomed as a student at CNU, and will forever treasure his memories of you, your wife, the faculty, and his classmates. You will be missed!!
Thank you Paul!! You and Rosemary are amazing. I graduated in the late 90s. With your great leadership and all the amazing professors provided me with an everlasting education that allowed me to have a successful career and life!
You've helped skyrocket the success of CNU and will be sorely missed. As a PLP graduate I think to myself, what better example of servant leadership than our very own university president - thank you for all of the wonderful memories. God Bless!
Well Done President Trible and Rosemary! I have been blessed with 2 CNU graduates, that did not overlap - so I have seen the transformation of the campus, in the classroom and around the US for over 8 years. CNU has made a name for itself with your leadership and direction... Thank you for all you have done for our community and our children to make them better citizens and alumni! You will be missed but your legacy will live on. Captains for life! Good luck in your next chapter! Enjoy each day with your loved ones!
You have set the bar extremely high and should be incredibly proud of your accomplishments and legacy at CNU. We have 6 kids who have been sprinkled around Virginia colleges including UVA, VA Tech, and VCU...all great schools. Our final graduate in 2025 will be our third from CNU and based on our personal experience and interaction with all of these schools no one comes close to the sincere commitment CNU has to their students in both academics and life. Thank you so much for your service to this great school and to our great country for shaping such model citizens. Godspeed and best wishes to you and Rosemary.
Great leader and Great man! Thank you for all you did for the University and our educations!! I wish you the very best of luck going forward and pray the path you set continues forward.
I have great memories of being at President Trible’s house with, Rosemary and my teammates. To have the hugs, support and interaction of Rosemary and the President with many things we did on the campus. They were very active and always present. I thank you for all you have done. Enjoy! Please know you have made an impact on many.
I have many memories of my time at CNU, my favorite is the Theater course in London. Paul got is into some of the private areas of parliament! It was amazing to see the British Government in action!
