Lol, it's not that his self-esteem is low, he just has panic disorder and his mind goes completely blank when he's in front of a crowd. He's fine otherwise. I don't understand why MBC makes him do such things on live broadcast knowing this, but he's cute and hilarious and everyone helps calm him so all's good. He doesn't seem distraught to me. They've got his back, despite the teasing. Like on stage, HyeJin was his rock.

I totally understand your concern but they were not laughing at him or ruining his self-esteem. He went off-script and ad-libbed for a bit. What he said ended up being cute and funny. He said that his social skills/sociability really improved because of the program. Hyunmu asked if he was sure and Kian replied, "Yes, this is my maximum". Perhaps the humour gets lost through translation but in Korean, the way he says things comes off funny-cute.
On a different note, I personally appreciate how "Home Alone" depicts Kian's panic disorder. They don't make his panic disorder a focal point or clickbait material. His panic disorder is simply something he has. Moments when he takes medication or experiences panic isn't overly dramatized but rather normalized. My impression is that the cast accepts him for who he is and supports him the best they can.
