Of course there are questions which science cannot answer. But it is humble before these questions unlike religion which claims to know the A to Z of existence. Science is the careful explorer of the darkness bringing light into it at every step. But religion says here is the universal light of God which no man can question. More and more I grow to despise religion when it despises science, for it is like the parent and religion is like the child who hopefully will grow up to be like the parent.
Sorry guys, but all top-down origin scenarios (gods or the like first) necessarily include the infinite regression issue, something that cannot be defined away. This means that no deity can sit at the origin of objective reality. If you reject the possibility of an infinite regression in objective reality then you inherently reject any and all top-down origin scenarios. If you accept that infinite regressions can happen in objective reality then you must inherently accept that your preferred deity can't sit at the origin because the regression cannot be stopped. There can't be a definite origin to a top-down scenario, only a nebulous 'and many things came before' whatever you might be proposing. To insist that any specific deity sits at the origin of objective reality is both irrational and illogical. Bottom-up origin scenarios (quantum fields or something similar first) can work because quantum theory, supported by innumerable objective empirical experiments, shows that there are hard limits to how small and simple things can be. All of our available verified objective empirical evidence points exclusively and unambiguously to an objective reality that is built from the bottom up, from the quantum fields. Everything that can be shown to objectively exist can also be shown to be made of the quantum fields and nothing more.
Faith is what you do when you have NO evidence. Faith is what you do when you are NOT justified in your beliefs. And you’re mixing colloquial faith from experience with religious faith, which is unjustified. Stop with the religious LUNACY! And your electorate are the minority in America 🇺🇸.
Now show evidence for god. Not silly arguments that have already been debunked thousands of times. Not "trust me bro", or other feelings. Real evidence. When science cannot answer something does not mean god did it. It's just that we cannot explain it. You still have to prove the existence of god even if everything about science is wrong.
That's a really great explanation, I really don't like the word 'religion' as people have already attached negative connotations with it. I prefer to be asked what is your faith than what is your religion.
Lennox point on the brain/computer being created by an intelligent mind not random unguided processes is brilliant. That's logical and reasonable. Yet so many atheists simply ignore it.
it's not remotely logical nor reasonable. A computer was designed and built for a specific purpose by minds, this is not evidence in any way that a brain must be. At the root this is the simplest of association fallacies.
The first issue i see here is, this is the good old bet and switch. Pops here is a mathematician not a scientist, so his opinions are as valid as anyone elses, (just something to keep in mind) Now lets look at his opinions, science doesnt answer the question of mean (i think he means, the meaning of life) no, because there is no such thing as a general meaning of life. You make your own meaning discovering who you are and knowing what works for you and what you should become you are alive because a sperm fertilized an egg nothing more nothing less now figure out what to do with your life And i would expect a mathematician to know that even if questions science fails to answer are actually valid, that doesnt mean you should now settle with anything that claims to have an answer

So you claim to have answers to philosophical question, ok let us hear them. While you are at it, please, tell us where did god come from? I mean you say something can't come from nothing - thus universe was created but do you use that same logic to god? Universe didn't come from nothing tho, it's expansion of energy and matter is energy. I would thought that you would understand that but I guess even seemingly smart person can be dumb. Faith is blind, you believe in claims because they make you feel good and better for some reason. For you, have the need to have over lord watching over you and judge you. You need that fear to be good, that if you do something bad you will be punished by god even if no person can see your bad deed. That's not healthy way to live, not at all. Ou and while you are showing evidence how and where god came from, show us that the god is your god, the one you believe in, and not any other god from other sects and religions. Are you able to do that without special pleading and faith?
My "god" is the human imagination. My "god" created your God. Believing in a god or gods is a self-reflection. You are focusing on something in your imagination. Apparently that creates a "spiritual experience" for some people. But, it doesn't make your god real just because you feel it and believe it and have FAITH in it. It is just real to you. Quit trying to force it on the rest of us. Just because science doesn't explain everything doesn't mean we should turn to ancient gods and myths for answers. If you need meaning and purpose in your life, I don't care where you find it. Just don't try to convince me to believe what you believe. I will listen to you until you start telling me I will go to hell for eternal torment if I don't accept what you say as truth. That is manipulation and it is disgusting. We don't know why we are here or why anything exists. It is all a profound mystery. Just accept reality. A lot of peope do. You religious people have to work really hard just to convince yourselves of what you say you "believe" in. You create communities to reinforce your beliefs. But you still can't agree on everything. Look at all of the religions and denominations and movements and splinter groups around the world and throughout history. Why can't you guys get the story straight? Because what's in your imagination is different from what's in everyone else's imagination.
The Bible says to love God with all your heart all your mind and all your strength and their neighbor as yourself so what is the meaning to life to love without Love we are nothing without love we feel nothing

Oh don't be so silly. And let's not jump to hasty conclusions. Atheism is simply the claim that God, Gods or gods do not exist. So of course atheism per se gives "you no ground for trusting the rationality you need to do science". To get to that grounding, atheists appeal to other ideas. Likewise, theism is simply the claim that God, Gods or gods do exist. So likewise theism per se gives "you no ground for trusting the rationality you need to do science". For example, what if the God or god changes its mind all the time and so undermines any concept of reality a theist does have? To get a grounding, theists have to appeal to other ideas that go beyond the assertion that Gods or gods exist. So why on earth do Cameron and Lennox expect atheism to do something which theism itself cannot do? And no, science cannot explain everything. If it could, then scientists would no longer need to do research. When apologists say the kind of things Lenox says, then they show why apologetics is largely bankrupt of sensible thinking and is largely irrelevant to the non Christian world. +++ Science can explain to a degree, why I exist. For example, we have good evidence that the amount of entropy in the universe increases with time. This is a scientific statement. We know that human beings generate entropy simply by being alive. That too is a scientific concept. Humans generate even more entropy when they do additional things. In 1977 Ilya Prigogine won the Nobel Prize for chemistry and his theory about dissipative structures. He wrote a book titled "Order out of Chaos" in which he explains that living organisms exist in a state of being far from equilibrium with their surroundings. In order to maintain this state they have to suck in resources from their surroundings and do work, by recycling chemicals and by making new chemicals. In doing so, they generate more entropy which gets added to the overall universal entropy. So perhaps something always existed. It "burped" about 14 billion years ago and space/time expansion began. To return the universe to its pre-burp state, dissipative structures such as stars, rivers, decaying atoms, clouds, and living organisms formed. We humans are nothing more than sophisticated entropy generators. That is why we exist. There may be nothing more to it. It's an idea at least which appeals to many scientific concepts. Of course, that's unsatisfactory for many people. But it is a possibility. Many who are unhappy with it appeal to entities like themselves. Mostly these entities are invisible and beyond our ken, but humans who believe they exist assign to them all kinds of attributes which allow those entities (we often call them gods or God) to create existence and along with it, living organisms. That's another idea. The funny thing is, many theists like Lenox and Cameron, don't seem to understand that these entities no more explain why we exist nor how we exist. Not in the sense they expect science to explain, should science have an explanation. So there is a degree of hypocrisy going on here. +++ Here is yet another idea. Mum and dad went out to a party one night, had a few too many drinks and on getting home, got a bit frisky. Nine months later, here I am.
And we don't mean a quit screw after a drunken night... why I'm here. It's a philosophical question, genius. But I wouldn't expect an atheist to understand philosophy.
Religion- I made it the fuck up.

Sorry, Lennox, but that is the ORIGINAL definition of the word "faith" by the vatican, which in turn is the ORIGINAL version of your church, which represents the ORIGINAL version of your religion. Any other definition, Lennox, you must have pulled out of some orifice...
If your favorite deity is actually objectively real, part of objective reality, the reality that we all share, it should be a trivial task to present your deity for examination, testing, and questioning to see if it can live up to your claims for it.
I assert that I am infinitely more powerful that your "God". I can push a pencil across my desktop, something that no deity has ever been shown to be able to do. Prove me wrong, produce your deity.
I can't believe that my hero is growing old 🥺
I know he still looks like a little boy 😂, but you know that's Kirk,

How did I not know that you had your own channel when I follow Living Waters? I only found the channel because of the homeschool video.
Please dont follow Living Waters. Ray Comfort owns that channel and hes horrible.
When a bad day arrives the question to be asked is what for and not why. The fact that we are here is a reality that demands an explanation, precisely about what for am I here. I have a brain therefore there is no excuse to not look for an answer about the purpose of my existence being conscious that there are intelligent laws all around me, that can be formulated as an equation. Math, music and love are all around me, and I mus accept that these outside realities existed before me. Do a favor to yourself and instead of complaining simply embrace all the good things.
Dr Lennox is incredible! "Faith is trust based on evidence"
Oh, please, let us be realistic. John Lennox does not know what he is talking about, but that does not stop him. No one knows what he is talking about, & not that many people bother to waste their time listening to his fantasyland vocabulary. We know the fundamentalist vocabulary because they have been weighing-in on whatnot for generations, as if Earth had gravity-free zones & magic. We are to listen politely to the cheerful academic yammering about his confusing fiction & nonfiction. We are to ignore there is no deity accrediting the theologian, nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital, secular law & order ending the witch-killing & inquisitions, Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy, & even Jesus The Nailed, says faith is worthless if you can't move mountains by voice-command.
Where is the honor in suggesting people go about as if travel were best done with one foot in a Christian fantasyland? We have voting to offer some quality-control to govern us as a nation, the Christian has zero quality control. The Christians pasted their books on the OT, the Mormons glued theirs on to them both. Even Jesus The Nailed, said a wicked generation seeks signs & think not I come with peace, but a sword.
Demonstrate ANY evidence for god
it's literally the opposite
Low bar Lennox
People believe what they believe it boils down to a theory they feel comfortable with believing unfortunately it takes Faith to believe no matter which way but I choose to believe the right way in the name of Jesus

According to Revelations when God brings down the New Jerusalem the old Earth will be pushed into void which is the abyss this is why our galaxy expands at a high rate and will continue so for all eternity this Earth will be in darkness

@@freddan6flybetter yet, what rationality?😉
His cake analogy is silly. You know the why Simply by asking the woman..,
Of course there are questions which science cannot answer.
We’re not smarter than we think
science is like an emmenthaler- full of holes
Religion is like _a blind man looking for a black cat that isn't in the in a dark, yet claiming to have found it_
That's a really great explanation, I really don't like the word 'religion' as people have already attached negative connotations with it. I prefer to be asked what is your faith than what is your religion.
What is your evidence? I will wait
So you know you are wrong and want to play word games to cover your false belief?
Lennox point on the brain/computer being created by an intelligent mind not random unguided processes is brilliant.
That's logical and reasonable.
Yet so many atheists simply ignore it.
Computers are not biological creature. Yes, that makes a huge difference and completely collapses the analogy.
@@singwithpowerinfo5815no it doesn’t. The brain is your work station just As your computer.
@@o.mulders2584 Of course it is. Doesn’t change my statement or my point.
It is presup waffle
it's not remotely logical nor reasonable. A computer was designed and built for a specific purpose by minds, this is not evidence in any way that a brain must be. At the root this is the simplest of association fallacies.
The first issue i see here is, this is the good old bet and switch. Pops here is a mathematician not a scientist, so his opinions are as valid as anyone elses, (just something to keep in mind)
Now lets look at his opinions, science doesnt answer the question of mean (i think he means, the meaning of life) no, because there is no such thing as a general meaning of life.
You make your own meaning discovering who you are and knowing what works for you and what you should become you are alive because a sperm fertilized an egg nothing more nothing less now figure out what to do with your life
And i would expect a mathematician to know that even if questions science fails to answer are actually valid, that doesnt mean you should now settle with anything that claims to have an answer
Lennox is a scientist. What are you talking about?

Science can't answer everything. Ok, maybe, but what do you propose by it?
This is one of the most brilliant Christ followers I know. I’m surprised that Kirk is even talking to him.
Dr. Lennox doesn’t believe in a young Earth. He believes the truth that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old.
I'm pretty sure he believes in a young earth. I heard a speech of his, where his argument was that if you can have faith that God created everything by his word then why not take the next step and believe he created it in 7 days.
man, the others must be dumb af

I just looked up Sir Peter Brian Medawar and not only was he not a christian but he in fact he found the Biblical stories unethical and was "shocked by the way in which [Biblical] characters deceived and defrauded each other." He even asked his wife "to make sure that such a book did not fall into the hands of [their] children." When you asked each other, why don’t scientists believe in God? I think it is simply because they don’t want to. They look for reasons to not want to obey God. They want to be God in control their own lives.
"why don’t scientists believe in God? I think it is simply because they don’t want to."

Easy.

Science can explain to a degree, why I exist.
+++
Here is yet another idea. Mum and dad went out to a party one night, had a few too many drinks and on getting home, got a bit frisky. Nine months later, here I am.
Lol entropy is a breakdown of things not I increase.
And we don't mean a quit screw after a drunken night... why I'm here.
It's a philosophical question, genius.
But I wouldn't expect an atheist to understand philosophy.
potentially science can explain everything, it just hasn't yet but given an infinite amount of time it would do.
You're allready wrong about the definition of atheisme so i'm not gonna read anything else beyond that point.
It just came to me: "Science is men trying to manipulate God."
