Just ordered this, because it sounds like someone read my mind! I’m hyper-vigilant with writing things down, checklists, planning, notes…but then I can’t ever MAKE myself “do all the things”, because I don’t WANT to!

This is so me! I love lists, and while I do feel better mentally after I’ve sorted my stuff out on paper I stall out in the doing phase. I know my husband is stressed when he makes a list and then I’m in awe as he starts at the top and works right down the list. Magical.

Have you ever heard of PDA/demand avoidance?
I discovered it last year and my life suddenly makes sense. I still struggle, but now I know why.
I learned about it from Harry Thompson, but there are several channels that cover it.
I can only do a thing if I can convince myself I don't care whether I do it or not.

I've had the anti-planner for about 6 months. In typical ADHD fashion, I put it out of site and completely forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me I have such a fantastic tool at my fingertips, if I can remember to take it off the shelf.

    • @seohiroth7
      @seohiroth7 3 месяца назад +3

A tip I use to remind myself is put it somewhere in the way of something else you do all the time or put it somewhere out of place so you see it more often, like for me I put some things on the floor in front of my door. Me personally, I don't like things just being on my floor, so I remember it because it's out of place.

I do things like set a timer for 1 minute per room. I clean as fast as I can for a minute. Throw what doesn’t belong in that room in the hall. Spend one minute or so putting those things away. Move on to next room. Repeat. It can be amazingly effective. We often think things will take longer than they actually do, then we put things off.

Wow, this is right up my ADHD alley. I recognized a few of the exercises and methods but I’m always looking for help with my executive function (lack there of). I’m going to purchase one and would love to see videos on anything related to this. Even before my ADHD was diagnosed 6 years ago the only helpful organization/time management books in my embarrassingly large collection were ADHD focused. Silly me was still dumbfounded when a new therapist I was seeing for depression and anxiety zeroed in on underlying inattentive ADHD after a month of sessions. I had only associated hyperactivity with ADHD before this. Game changer!

How to make a reusable diy reusable sheet. Take a laminator sheet and run it through empty. Cut to fit the size of your notebook. I use a paper clip to hold it over my papers and use a wet erase marker to write in it. I've had this for a year and loved it! It helped me realize that a lot of mess/clutter in one of my rooms was bad because I.... never had a garbage can in one of the most commonly used rooms.
Sometimes I felt like choosing the mood was too hard, so I just started randomly opening up the book and kept reopening it to random pages until the activity seemed accessible to my brain and helpful. I was planning on making a new notebook where I try going through all these exercises and maybe make my own versions. Having a list, maybe on the inside, of strategies that help you can be good.
This did also suggest the Magnet mac app for window management and that was totally worth it.
I want to try and adapt some of these with my kiddo to help him better understand what I mean when I ask him to do certain chores. (anxiety kiddos, am I right?)
I also used to race myself to cleaning my apartment, like when I got an unexpected hour at home sans kid and sans spouse, and see how much I can multitask. Start the washer, dishwasher, roomba in the bedroom, vac other rooms, pickup, etc....

I have this and love it! I'd also love to see you vlog doing some of the activities because I feel like it will help remind me to use it too lol. It lives next to my desk and I feel like I forget that it's there.

I’d love to see you do a video on some of these. Especially the morning person one

I could see myself doing this instead of doing the actual thing. Then turn putting it away, feeling accomplished, and not doing the main task

I’d love to see follow up videos. I would buy it if it was book bound. I won’t buy wire-o anymore, I hate it that much. I guess I might consider it if it was a spiral. 😊

Pleather is PU or PVC specifically, whereas vegan leather is a broader category that includes a range of leather substitutes, including apple leather and mushroom leather for example :) so vegan leather includes many options that are more sustainable than both pleather and leather. (And many people living a vegan lifestyle probs wouldn't assume that something that is pleather is automatically vegan unless specified too so it's nice to have it written out when it is, makes it easier.)

That sweater has me wanting to roll up my sleeves, and I'm wearing a tee.
Maybe it's SPD, but sleeves that long always make me feel like they're going to be wet up to the elbows the first time you try to accomplish something.
    Or maybe that's just me.
    The book looks fabulous.

My cat chews plastic too. I set up some that he likes to puncture and the vet says he has the best teeth ever! Win!

I'm not sure if I'm getting old, but the font looks kinda small? Need MOAR font and Higher Contrast! Only read ebooks now and every time I pick up a planner or book it seems like they're too low contrast and tiny font. Ugh. Might have to get a large tablet to read pdfs now....
