I mean, I imagine that the issues that El Toro Ryan brought up with Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit with its train design, how the wheel bogeys are really close together and how the trains are top-heavy, both of which contribute to the increasing vibration, probably would also apply here. Watch his Problematic Coasters vid on Rockit btw if you haven’t yet; it’s incredible.
The roughness is a train problem. Maurers x car cars are connected with a shaft and that shaft only allows for vertical movement on the front car, and horizontal movement on the back car. That’s why you get that awkward push and pull thing on these rides

Usually at the very start of the season everything is fresh and well maintained and the train goes significantly smoother than in mid/end season. I would also say when it’s not shaking it’s absolutely awesome. It’s also normal for people to grey out that are not used to the g forces. When it’s in bad condition again the best row is the middle one in the back car. That rattles the least 😂
Thank you for that review, I was really looking forward to your in-depth opinion of Freischütz. As I've stated previously in the awards-show, I'm in a love-hate-relationship with the coaster. I love it for what it is but after a few rides I'm simply exhausted by its intensity. It's a shame that it has gotten so rough and I'd probably absolutely adore Freischütz if it ran smoothly. Still, it's a memorable experience that I kind of want to get back to after a while. I can perfectly understand everyone who doesn't enjoy the ride. Personally, however, I'd rate it an 8/10 because of its relentless nature and the fact that it's probably one of the most intense coasters I've experienced - I grey out every time in the turn after the loop. Regarding maintenance, I recently read in an interview that just the maintenance parts for Freischütz are around €20,000 a year.
Guess it's a good thing that I've started learning German on Duo Lingo. My original ambition was to make it to Oktoberfest one of these days, because spinning rides galore!!! If there's a heaven, it has every spinning ride imaginable. I get the feeling that Bayern Park is about to get an increase in patronage. Those of us who possess that morbid curiosity might be rare, but we're legion, and we just can't resist. "Let's just throw in a crap ton of positive G's!" I think I'm in love.
This roller coaster is located in my home park. When the coaster first opened, it would often be shot a second time without stopping, which made it even more intense. Funnily enough, the roller coaster itself didn't take this very well either. I think the tires always heated up too quickly, so now it only goes around once. It also got a completely new drive system from ART Engineering a few years ago to keep maintenance even lower. The tunnel at the beginning is supposed to represent a gun barrel from which you are shot. "Freischütz" is an old German opera about a young hunter.
As someone who has not ridden too many uber intense rides (I've only been to Cedar Point, Kings Island (my home park), Holiday Word, Knotts Berry Farm, and California's great America, and soon to be Great adventure, and Kings dominion, and Six Flags Great America) I can't imagine how this roller coaster would feel like
This ride looks so fun for some reason😂 this ride looks like one of Rip Ride Rockits last turns that’s way too intense for the entire ride! Wow, you literally said that in the video!
The shakiness is likely because of the narrow track gauge combined with a wheel base that is way too short. Absolutely a donkey design move to have a 3-row car, but put the front axle under the middle row rather than the front row. It makes the car act like a lever with the back axle acting like the fulcrum, so any shocks felt by the front axle get amplified in the front row, while the middle and rear rows are directly above the axles so they feel the full brunt. Putting the front axle so far back is fine for mouse coasters to give the illusion that the car is going to go off the track during the hairpin turns, but it doesn't make sense for any other type of roller coaster.
Rode it in early October last year and did not find it very intense, but it might’ve been the cold. I didn’t find it very rough at all and enjoyed it though
On 172 credits, the one coaster that was too much for me was Lech Coaster. And boy, was it ever too much. I like my positive Gs, but I also learned that fighting to not lose consciousness is not really my idea of a good time. The other coaster that bordered on being too intense was another Vekoma, the Megablitz on the Wiener Prater.
last time i remember a coaster being to intense i'd have to say was when I rode hulk at isle of adventure in feb 2020. it may have been because I was just getting over one of the worst flu's I've ever had in my life, but the launch felt way more powerful than it ever was, and nearly grayed out before the end of it. most recently I'd say wild eagle at Dollywood. it was my 1st wing coaster ever, and oh mylanta that drop felt so much more intense than any other B&M coaster I've done before. even after doing it 2 more times that day it still remained beyond intense. if I thought that was bad I can't imagine how i'll handle gate keeper.
I live near the Bayern Park and road it several times. But only once a day. Iam glad that even an experienced coaster rider like you thinks its intense 😅
@gnutscha Say that to Coaster Studios who is like in his 20s or 30s and rides roller coasters every week and who's most ridden coaster out of over a thousand is Intimidator 305. I don't think the age will affect how much I enjoy intensity, spinning rides bring that a little bit but not intensity like in terms of positive Gs.
@@maxhagenauer24 oh i am not talking about how much you enjoy intensity, it's about how much you can take. I am in my 40s and i really feel that intense rides like Kärnan take a toll on me after a few rides, despite me really enjoying it.
@gnutscha Asking how much I enjoy intensity and how much I can handle are the same things. If I couldn't handle any more then I wouldn't enjoy it. All my points about Coaster Studios riding coasters still apply if you are talking about how much someone can take. They may take a toll on you while you are in your 40s but then if you enjoy them, the toll part wouldn't be the part you enjoy. You must enjoy it for some other reason. That's like saying a ride is so rough that you can't tollarate it but you love that it's rough.
Montu back row ride in peak Florida summer heat and humidity was a difficult experience. It’s hard to describe but the intensity mixed with the thick hot air just made it quite uncomfortable. That mixed with the inability to anticipate the upcoming elements just made it feel endless. Which is frustrating because under other conditions it would definitely be a very enjoyable ride!
Glad I’m not the only one who thought it was “too much”, rode it last summer and I was nót expecting it to be thát rough. Yeez I had a headache after my ride, and I like rough coasters 😂 And indeed, combining this with the intense speed, it doesn’t give the best rides 😅 By maintenance I’ve spoke to a employee and he told me it costs around €400 to launch the train EACH TIME, so I can imagine it’s quite an expensive ride to maintain and operate 😅
Intensity wise, I've never been on anything where I thought 'nope, too much'. There have been a few times I've had to bow out due to nausea though. For some reason Energylandia really finished me off... I did two rides on Zadra, same train, then two rides on Abyssus, and after that, everything I rode made me horrifically queasy... even the helix on the Vekoma Jr coaster set me off. I've been fine on trips elsewhere since, so either my body didn't like those initial rides, or it was the fact I'd only recovered from Covid about a week earlier. Five consecutive laps on Montu had a similar effect years earlier, but that was fixed quickly with a trip to the Crown Colony Pub!!
Yeah. I believe Venus GP was actually the last ever coaster designed by Schwarzkopf so theres that too. Like Venus GP was the peak of Schwarzkopf's design capability in the 90's, Their own manufacturing had gone bankrupt but they still made rides with Zierer and later Maurer as a subcontractor. The other Maurer x Schwarzkopf hybrid being built for a park in Japan before going to Wonder Island in Russia.
I'm old and a bit of a lightweight, and for me, the one that stands out as just too much was Dragon Khan at PortAventura. I know that people compare it to Kumba and say it's not as intense as that, but I haven't ridden Kumba. Anyway, I came off Dragon Khan just wishing it were slightly shorter. Leave off those last two interlocking corkscrews, and it'd be perfect. For me, those put it over the line. Not rough, not defective in any way, just a little too much for my enjoyment. It's the ONLY coaster B&M ever made with eight inversions and that makes me think I wasn't the only person who decided that.
I love it so much! I am very happy that it is at my 2nd home park. Great Coaster I dont think it is too much and i think it is somewhat smooth XD and i love the restraints
@WiedmannOfficial I don't need to he careful of anything, I have ridden may intense rides and I never get old or sick of them, they don't ware on me. I want the most positive Gs I can get. So of it's one hell of a coaster then that's a good thing.
Another ride that I'd consider too much that would be great as a review here is Riddler's Revenge. I think sitting down it'd be an elite B&M looper, but making you stand up pushes it into the territory of "they went too far"
Didn't really care for it because of the shakiness, so much so that I don't even remember too much about its intensity. Only had 2 rides though. However, I want to mention Abismo as a positive example as I think that's an amazing coaster and does actually ride quite well in my opinion. Have yet to try shock.
This was actually my first "big" rollercoaster. Back then I loved it but I rode it again in 2021 i think and it was brutally rough and as you said way too intense. And that combination is not great lol. Still rode it like 6 or 7 times that day but I had a bad headache afterwards. I also don't really know if i hate it or love it haha
Coming out of the station is supposed to simulate a bullet (the train) coming out of the barrel (the station), but the grooves around the circular walls are straight. Maybe, if they made the simulated grooves spiral, the bullet (train) would travel straighter without starting the tumble.
rode this thing a few years back, during the week and in the waning days of corona restrictions so the park was pretty empty and it was a walkon. Was the year their huge freefall tower opened. Anyways, after 3 back to back rides i had a pounding headache for a good hour and a half. Fun layout but really too rough to be fully enjoyable imo.
As I know/what I had heard, they have reduced the number of cycles from two to one, because they got in trouble with the LSMs; two starts in 40 sec., + breaks after just 80 sec., the LSMs overheated. So they had to reduce the cycles to only one. If true or perhaps two cycles will be far too much for too many or both together, who knows. I plan to visit this year Bayern Park the first time and yes, I hope, Freischütz will not be down on this day.
Every time somebody reviews this coaster, I flintch when somebody says that the last row isnt that comfortable to ride. Because it is built that way! While the front two rows of each car is built normally, the last row is built for bigger and heavier people, so they can fit also. But this more room allows you as a "skinny" person to shake more and make the ride uncomfortable. Yes every x-car has this feature, but nobody knows.
I think they built a coaster like that BECAUSE the park is mostly children-focused. Like, "we need something to keep adults/older kids from being bored". Now, say, one parent can go with the younger sibling on the kiddie-rides while the other goes with the older kid on this, or while the older kid goes on this alone.
I love Rip Ride Rocket and this looks very fun to me 😎 I am waiting for people to ride Falcons Fury. I will be shocked if people don’t black out or worse on it. It may be the end of Intamin IMO
When we were on a trip in september 2020 we came across Bayern Park (which we ended up hating but that’s another story). Freischütz was a one and done. It was really uncomfortable and tossed you in all possible directions leaving you wondering what the hell just happened in those 40 seconds.
I rode Freischütz back in its opening year, and back then it was nowhere near as intense as it is today. I rode it again in 2024 for the first time since then, and one lap was enough for me 😅.
I am a roller coaster noob and this was my first real rollercoaster in about 10 years. I felt it was fun, but not really intense and it was only rough in the front but I marathoned it in the back. If this is so intense like you said, then will all these american coasters, that I dream about riding sometime in the future, be really boring to me?
I've only been on one Rollercoaster that I wanted it to finish quickly..Which was Mine Blower @ Fun Spot Kissime..I thought I was gonna loose a tooth..It was to bumby..I honestly hated it. Which I don't say that about Rollercoasters..Maybe this one would be a bad one for me too.
I massively disagree, people may hate on X-car trains but skyrocket trains are the absolute worst unless you're really narrow shouldered and have short and thin legs. They're really hard to get into and the trains are really really cramped.
I actually haven't done that one yet! We drove past the park when we were in Rome but didn't go because they weren't open. Will have to go back for that one.
That “treble clef” element is one of my least favorite elements on any coaster so a ride full of that sounds awful. That said I would ride it once haha
Come on, you haven‘t marathoned it prior to its refurbishment. 😅 This was actually my first big coaster with inversions and I still ride it on a regular basis.
To be honest i thought it was ok except for it bruising me balls. And yes its really intens and a bit rough. Except for the break wich bruised the gonands it was really very much fun. Then again I305 is my second favorite coaster so i sort of like this thing. I would agree that its a bit much since i do like the family jewels. And i did the 2 laps speciale its actuale better then the one lap since the really painfull part is the last break. But i agree with you this one shouldn't be in this park a nice vekoma would be much better.
I love your videos but I think you could let us appreciate each take a little longer before changing the shot! Maybe 2 or 3 seconds more of each take would make your videos even better!
Hey Taylor I have a question, why did you stop pronouncing Bayern as "bi-urn" and start pronouncing it as "bay-urn". I thought the former is the correct pronunciation, but since you went to Germany, correct me if I'm wrong.
Judge Roy Scream. It's way too much. It's sooo bad haha😂. It was everything I could have wished for in experiencing my 1st and only RCCA coaster. They were next level, trash haha. It's so rough that it made me nauseous which has happened like 3 times in my life on a coaster. The jackhammering is so intense it creates random ejector moments that shouldn't even be there. Plus it has decent airtime moments, speed and pace for what it is. It was so bad I found it amusing and intend to ride it at least once if/when I return to SFOT and it's still standing. It's the roughest coasters out of the 300+ I've ridden and is 1000% what people describe RCCA coasters to be like. I would've been disappointed if it wasn't. That is a whole different level bad. It's excessive. It's contiued existence is a crime against humanity. 😂 Fortunately I find rough wooden coasters pretty exciting so it was fine. Doesn't change the fact that it should have been reduced to a pile of ash years ago but let's see how long it lasts.
Correction: so long as it does not induce pain or internal bleeding, there is no such thing as "too intense". The word we like to use is "challenging".
@ the spinning coasters are the exceptions haha. I do like Laff Track and Spider. The restraints are a little uncomfy though. I’m only 5’10 and 170 pounds and those bars kinda come down in an uncomfortable way.
The on ride footage is probably the only time I’ve ever seen Taylor look very close to being physically ill on a coaster
I mean, I imagine that the issues that El Toro Ryan brought up with Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit with its train design, how the wheel bogeys are really close together and how the trains are top-heavy, both of which contribute to the increasing vibration, probably would also apply here. The roughness is a train problem. Maurers x car cars are connected with a shaft and that shaft only allows for vertical movement on the front car, and horizontal movement on the back car. That’s why you get that awkward push and pull thing on these rides
"Freischütz" can be translated into "Freeshooter" or "Marksman".
The term comes from an old german folk tale in wich a maksman or hunter is gifted with magical arrows or bullets (depending of the time period) by the devil, that won't miss any target he shoots at, but the last would be directed by the devil himself.
The first version of the tale was traced back to the 15th century.
The best known version is from 1810 by Johann August Apel, wich was later used by Carl Maria von Weber to write his opera "Der Freischütz".
Honestly, that tale would make a stunning theming if done right.
There is also a pretty well know opera called "Der Freischütz" by Carl Maria von Weber based on that tale.
@@verybighomer I mentioned that, if you did not read it
I’m glad somebody said it! It’s a pretty famous opera and you’re so right: the story would make for great theming.
Yeah. And the station and launch is seemingly designed to be the barrel of a gun so that definitely fits.

I watched your pov on your channel a few months prior lol
alright so we can exclusively thank Coaster Studios for raising awareness for this ride, got it, lol
@@CoasterStudios Lol.
I love Rip Ride Rocket and this looks very fun to me 😎 I am waiting for people to ride Falcons Fury. I will be shocked if people don’t black out or worse on it. It may be the end of Intamin IMO
PLEASE can you add this whole enterance and map to the Frontier Workshop? I BEG YOU!
When we were on a trip in september 2020 we came across Bayern Park (which we ended up hating but that’s another story). Freischütz was a one and done. It was really uncomfortable and tossed you in all possible directions leaving you wondering what the hell just happened in those 40 seconds.
I would love to experience this ride, never had any problems with coasters so far, so perhaps I am one who would enjoy it :>
I rode Freischütz back in its opening year, and back then it was nowhere near as intense as it is today. I rode it again in 2024 for the first time since then, and one lap was enough for me 😅.
I've always wanted to experience a grey out but never happened so far. I havent ridden I305 yet though.
Probably.
That ride looks very intense, but fast.
Which Is More Intense?
Intimdator 305 // Now Pantherian.
Or Freischütz
I prefer positive g’s to airtime, so this looks like heaven to me
I've only been on one Rollercoaster that I wanted it to finish quickly..Which was Mine Blower @ Fun Spot Kissime..I thought I was gonna loose a tooth..It was to bumby..I honestly hated it. Which I don't say that about Rollercoasters..Maybe this one would be a bad one for me too.
You know Taylor's ridden so many rollercoasters to the point where he finds one more crazy than I305.
Fun fact the 2 laps got removed due to overheating problems with the LSM !
Ngl, wildcats revenge felt like it had a few moments of being slung around too much. It was fun but I hurt afterwards
I don't know that I'd call this ride intense, but Nighthawk at Carowinds (also closing this year) has never felt fun to ride for me. Much too shakey.
I Love this Ride
I feel like Premier Sky Rocket trains would actually improve these Maurer X-Car coasters.
weren't the cars/restraints supposed to be the huge innovation and selling point of the X-Car coasters when they first came out?
I massively disagree, people may hate on X-car trains but skyrocket trains are the absolute worst unless you're really narrow shouldered and have short and thin legs. They're really hard to get into and the trains are really really cramped.
@shroomyesc Maybe but they track a LOT better. Also X car restraints crush my stomach I can barely breath afterwards
How does this compare to Shock at magicland?
I actually haven't done that one yet! We drove past the park when we were in Rome but didn't go because they weren't open. Will have to go back for that one.
That “treble clef” element is one of my least favorite elements on any coaster so a ride full of that sounds awful. That said I would ride it once haha
I could only do three times on ArieForce One. That quad down station run is too much
This is my kind of ride
Ouch. Ouch. Too Painful. Ouch. And did the queue need to be that long???
when it launches you too times it was smoother. ;) but i only rode it like 3 weeks when it opend in 2011 or so :)
Come on, you haven‘t marathoned it prior to its refurbishment. 😅
This was actually my first big coaster with inversions and I still ride it on a regular basis.
It was almost my first big rollercoaster.
Funny thing is that this was my first coaster
They used to send it around twice.
I thought this was a premier launch coaster!😂
I forgot Maurer makes these.
Very intense
you guys looked pretty beat up at the end of that ride
The helix and cutback on Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket is the only fun part
So it basically Intimidator 305/Pantherian on crack and rougher
Is it worse than Goudurix?
This layout but its a Vekoma or Intamin invert 👀
If they ever had someone like Intamin redesign the trains on this thing? I bet it would run two laps again....
Shock looks so cartoonish to me
I love your videos but I think you could let us appreciate each take a little longer before changing the shot! Maybe 2 or 3 seconds more of each take would make your videos even better!
wildcats revenge was too much for me after 6 rides, but i can do skyrush all day, i don’t get it 😂😂😂
to be fair least its not too long bc if it was any longer i think it would close for something better
Togo resurrected and they are making stand up trains for this in 2026...lol
Hey Taylor I have a question, why did you stop pronouncing Bayern as "bi-urn" and start pronouncing it as "bay-urn". I thought the former is the correct pronunciation, but since you went to Germany, correct me if I'm wrong.
You are right, the former is correct!
4:55 the word “ovular” refers to the female reproductive system. “Ovate” is the word you’re looking for here.
There's no such thing as "too intense" for a true coaster lover
Correction: so long as it does not induce pain or internal bleeding, there is no such thing as "too intense". The word we like to use is "challenging".
I305 fans after watching this:
Green Lantern at SFMM was the one that was too intense for me
For me it was Zeus, facing backwards at parc asterix. I needed a 2 hour break after lol
1st comment yippee
Taiga is the best
Maurer coasters belong on cruise ships and absolutely nowhere else.
Well the maurer spinners are fun coasters. Look at phantasialand, they have the winjas.
@ the spinning coasters are the exceptions haha. I do like Laff Track and Spider. The restraints are a little uncomfy though. I’m only 5’10 and 170 pounds and those bars kinda come down in an uncomfortable way.
@@eliasmertens9313 at 6.7" and 187lbs i know the problem. But the spinners are to much fun
🤘🥸🤘
Damn I’m early
Son of beast was too much
