Been trying to learn this song for 30 years, and she nails it without a capo! Jealous. What a talent!
Really unique thing about it is that he plays by ear as well.

Then if you want to learn it you should look closely at her fretting hand positions. She is substituting her first finger to barre the upper register parts - she has the advantage of long, agile fingers ( she is quite a tall person ) and has supple fretting fingers to hammer on /pull off at the same time barring the chord. Meanwhile her fingerpicking is selecting the correct notes. Combining fretting/ picking requires talent and practice. I imagine she spends hours doing the latter.
Because she is playing it an octave lower except for the opening.

the actual audio was recorded in a studio but she's a great player for sure. I wish she'd use a warmer sounding guitar but a lot of women like the smaller-bodied Taylors because they fit their smaller frame.

I can only think that the 3300 people who dislike this, have never attempted to play a guitar, otherwise they would appreciate what a hug talent she is. She also arranged it, brilliant.
Man, thats really good, but, you know she played it, like a metronome. There is no heart, there is no feelings. There's just notes. And thats why i dislike it.

*Alfred* - true, reading notation will make anyone a better musician, because it's about so, so, so much more than just learning the right notes. It opens doors to better understanding some aspects of theory, to training your ear better, to developing your awareness of timing, to arranging techniques, to concepts of composition.... etc. Gabriella is a wonderful player already, clearly. Reading notation well would bump her up to an even higher plane. Imagine that!
Reading it is relatively easy... Sight reading is the hard part

Hello,
I started learning the guitar at the age of 67. I still don't know any notes today, but I do have a few fingerings. When I'm sad or I'm sagging, I take my guitar and just play a few notes and then I feel better. I'll never be able to play as beautifully as Gabriella, but when you paint a picture you will never reach the level of Titian or other great painters and still you are happy when you paint and you are happy with the result. It's fun and when I want to hear perfect playing, I listen to Gabriella without envy. That gives me pleasure.

I've tried and tried to play this song without a capo..couldn't. look how easily she does it, not even trying. also what she is playing is much more difficult than the version I play. I quit, I don't need this kind of frustration. lol

Brew Sprangstain She's playing the same basic chord progression as the original capo version . expect for the first few chords and a few embellishment she throws on it . The chord progression is just move down the fret board . There is really nothing difficult about how she's playing this .
Try capo on the fifth fret, it might be a little easier for you, thats the way George played it with Paul Simon on SNL, if you know most of the chords you're gonna be ok, it does take a while to learn but keep at it, you will be so gratified once you learn it.

John A Yeah it looks great, but the sound just isn't right. Especially with the wind blowing, and you can hear the added reverb... Wouldn't be too difficult to get a good match if you practiced the song enough...

Except for a short intro she is playing it in a different key than George. I loved the percussive harmonics on the "sun, sun, sun, here it comes" part.

Worralltheungreat I stand corrected, they are both A-major as you stated. But Gabriella plays off the open A compared to George's D capoed at the 7th fret. Does that make it simply one octave higher, while still in the key of A-major? While reading more about it I learned why I cannot play it at the exact same pitch as the studio album. Someone stated "[it is} slightly above A major due to the track being varispeeded by less than a semitone."
yes gabriella plays it an octave lower.. at least certainly at the beginning. I've never heard that about the original being a bit higher but that 's interesting. i play the 7th fret version myself and it usually sounds fine, at least to me.. did the beatles create dif versions of the song?
