First thing I do in the morning is pray (I need to. I'm getting old!). Then I read. Then I shadow spar. Then a small bit of cardio. Then some light weights. Been doing this for two years now.
I just told my student that. I have been doings this for years it's very functional when you don't have some to play with. Good advice took the words right of my mouth. Love your flow!
love this you are spot on fight science I love your reality based concepts too many wing chunners live in fantasy world..but I think your like me fight science your a real fighter before wing chun and that experience helps the most and makes you the best practioner you can be..keep up the functional realism training..and when I did spar I found nuk Sao the best which is known as free hand sparring with no bridges.in that kind of sparring you really get to see how wing chun works.
Hi Sifu Mark, yes this the video we were talking about!! I believe that from all your videos this is my favorite. This shadow sparring inspired me to change my training to be more realistic and less cooperative, including movement through spaces. at 1:30 the part where it only shows the shadow is so cool, very aestethic.
Love shadow sparing. Find this kind of training really helps the mind and body connect. Great for action on drills. Eg different ways to move around the jab with follow ups again dealing with 1 2s. Kick possibilities the list is endless thus why it is important to train this way. Plus it can be done on your own. Great video Sifu Mark Phillips. I have also subscribed to your you tube channel so looking forward to more great vids.
Thank you very much James. Perhaps shadow sparring is key to any fighting art. However there is a difference between Shadow Sparring and Shadow Boxing, even in practicing Wing Chun. Shadow sparring could be considered a higher level training skill that requires the visualisations that your mentioned. After all it is the mind body link, the training of the subconscious. Thanks for watching there's more to follow.
To be honest I can't remember the reference I made to Wing Chun in competitions as this was filmed many years ago, but if I think the point I was making was that Wing Chun is not a competition style for combat sports. So Shadow Sparring is not ingrained into typical Wing Chun training in comparison to say other aspects such as training the forms. Thanks for watching. Please feel free to watch some of our latest videos on our channel.

Amazing how important and beneficial this training method is.
This video seems more relevant than ever now we’re in lockdown. Thanks for the tips Sifu !
Its really what feels right in the head that will help you achieve success. Sound reasoning.

How often should you shadowbox? How many minutes and rounds?
Got a link to shop the dvd?
I can tell this is an older video because he barely smiles in this. XD
You guessed right. 👍
