I bought Sunflower/Surf's Up just as I started my first year at university about 15 years ago - it still holds an extremely important place in my heart. The hidden gem of the post-Pet Sounds era as far as I'm concerned.
Truly one of the most creative and consistent albums of the entire rock era. A tragedy that it wasn't recognized as such in 1970. Who knows how different the Beach Boys' history might have turned out?
I was a Beach Boys fan but had lost track of them in the months prior to Sunflower. I came upon a Warner Brothers sampler double album that included “This Whole World” and went nuts over it. It led me to “Sunflower” and it became and remains one of my favorites.
I’ve had Sunflower on vinyl, Brother cd, remastered Brother 2000 cd, the last remastered cd and Japanese mini Lp. I’ve NEVER heard it sound this rich!!!!!!!
I look with happy antcipation at this marvellous release. August, 27th is my Birthday, too. So the preordered Double-CD will find its place on my table with cake, candle & presents. And maybe some sun flowers, too🤩👍🏻🍀
The Beach Boys rule. All of my grand children know all the Beach Boy and Beatle words to their songs and will break out in song everywhere. Doing it in Church is an experience. 😎
Didn't want the clip to end! You guys working on a new DVD/Blu-ray for us yet? Clean it up, Get it out! Lots of video footage that has never seen official release out there...
@Thee Noble Surfer Agreed. Bruce had left before 1972's Carl and the Passions 'So Tough'. Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Faatar were in the band to replace Bruce and Dennis on drums, who'd hurt his hand. Bruce must have shouted it from the crowd.
Omg I love that so much I have ordered the album can't get it till September I am in the uk. Don't know if that makes any difference. Amazon seem to struggle to get it xx
Music changes, think Rod Stewart did a couple of old crooner albums a few years ago. Barry Gibb playing on the Grand Ole Opry, Rocker John Fogerty did a lot of country earlier in his career and still does. My opinion only, I go see classic artists for their oldies.
So happy to see Surf's up and sunflower be recognized as the masterpieces they are 💕❤️💕❤️
What a time to be alive for a Beach Boys fan.

This box set is mind blowing. two of the most underrated American rock albums ever recorded.
Think about the listening pleasure these guys gave us for over 50 years. !!
This music is probably the most overlooked music of our time. It's incredible how to public just largely ignored the beach boys output at this point.
meanwhile abbey road and let it be are over sold and overdocumented
I love this period of their career- so much to explore! I'm so happy for the boxset- I get to spend my bday listening to it!!!!
i’m crying there’s so many moments that make me smile and i believe some are never before seen footage thank you so much for making and sharing this
*SMiLE
They really did a good job on this one. So stoked.
There's almost no question that for me at least, August 27 will be the best day of the year! Cannot wait...
This will be the best release in ages!
"We just had a great experience except in sales"-Bruce Johnston
😆
That's all he and Mike ever cared about.
@@foryourhead Ever? I don't think so. Both Mike and Bruce had their "hungry for it" younger days. Both produced excellent music.
@@foryourhead you’re nuts, sorry.
@@foryourhead, you mean all Mike cared about.
Bruce loved the music, too.

“It’s about time” my band gets their due!

That's lovely. Happy birthday in advance 🌻

Best band of all time.....
This was somethin' else, lovely video. Hearing Surf's Up though... still makes me depressed that Smile never came out in 1967...
Such an amazing video, I can't wait til this boxset comes out
Thank You.
The Best Original Band of All Time ❤❤❤
Esto es muy emocionante, ¿Quién más está tan expectante?
YOOOOO!
Finalmente se le da el respeto que merece esta banda y este período en particular. Ojala sigan mejorando este canal de youtube
The real rivals of Beatles Music are no doubt Beach Boys. Hugs from Chile
Already pre-ordered it! So excited!
Looking forward to the box...AND Chapter 2 of this video!!
Esto es realmente emocionante, the beach boys son lo máximo ❤️💕los amo
So exciting! Promotion is so well done!
Couldn't be more excited. Those feel flow harmonies sound beautiful.
can't wait too long
Awesome ! love Beach Boys since 60s , I've gone 3 times see Mike Brice & band 3 times amazing !
Great video!! Can’t wait for the box set!
Maravilloso! !!!..inmortal! !!
What a time to be alive!
Get ready to ‘board the tidal wave, y’all
I want it 😍 hi from Italy 👋
Love this.
This was awesome. Keep em coming!!
Bruce has my respect. Though he often sides with Mike, he still acknowledges Brian’s genius.
I think history will be kind to the Friends and Wild Honey albums too, The Beach Boys own version of Americana.
Brian,Carl,Dennis,Al,Mike,Bruce 😍😍😍😃
Soy mexicano y me encanta the beach boys señor Brian Wilson saludame
awesome

Awesome
Can’t wait!!
The only thing better would be a Mike Love solo double CD release.
I WAS AT A BEACH BOYS NEW YEAR'S EVE CONCERT IN 1973' AND "BRUCE" GOT MAD AT THE CROWD AND YELLED OUT..."F**K THE OLDIES"... HOW IRONIC 🤫
?? If it was in 1973 then oldies would be the old 60’s Surf/car songs. Sunflower/Surf’s Up were still new and recent comparably.
He was probably mad that you were holding down the caps lock... and didn't understand the meaning of 'ironic.'
@@vincevirtua Yeah, that's the point. The crowd wanted the "oldies" and the Boys wanted to play the new stuff instead.
@@Babyboss65 that's true, the block cap post got me confused with nonsensical use of the word 'ironic'.
How can anyone give this a thumbs down?
Wooooow!!!

If you ever do and made for TV movie Jud Nelson is a doppelganger for Carl
Great video but that music is so loud compared to the interview clips
The Beach Boys became The Beach Men.
0:40 song?
Surf's Up...one of Brian's greatest creations with lyricist Van Dyke Parks.
Specifically this version: ruclips.net/video/e-ZjIdyWu-U/видео.html
What's up with the backward-spinning record?? Secret messages on side 2 of Surf's UP or something??? Hmmm....I know what I'm doing tonight!
ELO Meets Beach Boys?
