- On the 29th of December 2023 we visited the Severn Valley Railway for their Winter Diesel Day.
It was Simon's first visit to this big and prestigious heritage railway and we had a wonderful time.

Extraordinary Simon, very interesting diesel and steam locomotives especially the panier tank double heading the class 20. Steam and diesel double heading is quite common at the puffing billy railway whenever there is extra loadings or during total fire ban periods. I encountered puffing billy a couple of times which demonstrates this morning, one on a footpath next to the line and the other at one of the level crossings whilst in the car. I also heard recently that on the bluebell railway, battle of Britain class 34059 sir archbald Sinclair returned to service during their New years Eve steam up.
I hope your Dad has had an amazing birthday and I wish you both all the bestest train year!
Cheers Simon and take care
Thanks. We’ve not seen steam and diesel double heading before, though we’ve seen them topping and tailing quite a few times. I hope we can see it again!
We’ve not visited the Bluebell Railway for a few years now, since before we started this channel. That’s another one we must visit again. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
You're very welcome Simon, keep your steam up.😊
