- This video highlights the Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Middle School (PRISMS) Toolkit, which provides resources and tools for educators who support students reading below grade level in grades 6-8. The toolkit supports the effective implementation of the recommendations presented in the What Works Clearinghouse practice guide Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Grades 4-9 (ies.ed.gov/nce.... The video includes interviews with middle school teachers and faculty from the College of Education at University of Texas at Austin.
REL Southwest is partnering with school districts and middle schools in the 2025/26 school year to conduct a study of the Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Middle School (PRISMS) Toolkit. This toolkit contains sustained, high-quality professional learning for educators, including:
Tools for teachers to self-assess instructional practices
Online professional learning modules and resources aligned to recommendations in the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) practice guide, Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Grades 4-9
Access to a professional learning community to support classroom implementation
School-level supports for administrators and literacy leaders.
