In-depth analysis of The Small Council Chairs Scene from Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 3.
This is Tywin Lannister. And without saying a single word, he's about to expose the true nature of every person in this room. Because in the game of thrones, sometimes the most revealing moments happen in complete silence.
Now, what makes this scene so brilliant is that on the surface, nothing really happens. A group of people walk into a room and sit down. That's it. No dramatic confrontation, no shocking twist, no blood spilled. And yet somehow, this tiny moment tells us more about these characters than entire episodes of dialogue ever could.
So what really makes this scene work? What really makes it one of the most clever pieces of visual storytelling the show has ever done? Let me break it all down for you.

I just wanted to say Thank You to all of you. The nice comments and you all watching this video are really appreciated! I try to respond to as many as I can 😊 I am still in disbelief on what we accomplished on this channel. Thank you all! Love ❤
@YourWesterosGuy1 This whole scene is the game of thrones (chairs) on the small scale lol
You are genius, first time to subcribe to an english movie channel, thanks for your work, it not just show me how good this scene are but I also learn a lot from this video, damn, damn damn tight tight tight
Thank you so much!
Cersei picks up the chair to show her equality in strength to the men. Tyrion drags it as comedy and to show despite his limitations he will achieve his goals no matter if it annoys you.
game of thrones went all to shit after tywin died on a craper :(
Tywin is constantly faced with proof that Tyrion is, indeed, his son.
And more like him than he cares to admit lol
@MrDeltoric I think it's the opposite.
Tywin can't help but notice it and that's the reason why he hates Tyrion so much. If it weren't for that, Tyrion would probably suffer only contempt from his father. If the dwarf who he blames for the death of his wife were nothing like him, that's something he could probably endure.
Instead, he has to suffer being reminded of it all the time.
@JerryMathurin-e4n I was just talking about how he was on the opposite side of the table and they were facing each other.
Absolutely great comment. Thankyou for that.
@lelgazelle And he´s more like him than the others because of his doing, he sharpen Tyrion the most with his contempt than whatever he tried to do with Jaime. That and the need for approval Tyron had of course. He couldn´t bear that his most despised child was his most worthy successor and still made use of his capable mind as hand in his absence
Tywin casually rearranging chairs is a funny concept to me.
Its almost like its imprinted by his wife to decorate 😂
I think that's what says the most, tywin is extremely petty, he will childishly move around chairs with a dead serious face and convince himself it's some ingenious test of character. It works because his council isn't all that good. Sometimes he really is Cersei without tits.
There's a video someone made by repeating moments from this scene where Tyrion scrapes the chair across the floor for two solid minutes, with Tywin looking more and more pissed throughout the scene.
It would have been funny as hell if they had of made that scene just for an outtake skit or blooper real or something. Tywin being all gay decorating and talking to himself 'Oh, I'll juss put that chair there, doesn't it look nith? Why, yeth it does Tywin, well done'
Well obviously he didn't move them. Some servant did. I'm honestly not even sure of I've ever seen the guy pick up a cup. A quill is the only thing he's ever lifted
Varys smiling as Tyrion loudly scrapes the chair across the floor reveals he understands exactly what Tyrion is doing, and that he's the only other person in the room than Tyrion that has a sense of humor.
Thats why they are bestfriends 😊👏🏻
It kind of reminded me of the first Men in Black movie where J loudly moved the table across the floor while K and Zed watched from behind a 1-way-window. Then J said something like "let me know if you need to use this," to the other test takers. K smiles, because J is perfect for the role, even if he doesn't know why.
He also likes Tyrion.
The spider is the mastermind of all the game of thrones. "For the good of the realm."
@YourWesterosGuy1 Tyrion and Varys are the only two there who showed up to do their job...not power for its own sake. Pycelle wants to be at the font of power without seeming like he wants it. He likes his position in life and in that room. It is close enough to be part of the rulers but far enough to not be a target.
Worthy of mention that Tyrion is first person who spoke, practically open the meeting, which is another way of showing Tywin that he is not playing by Tywin's rules.
Very good observation 😊
I am declining to speak first. Michael Scott
back when Game of Thrones was peak television.
Early seasons: each character’s seat choice is important in a scene.
Last season: oh is that a syrofoam coffee cup on the table? Whatever, ROLL THE FOOTAGE we gotta deliver these damn seasons before we can quit
@astronemir 2-3 last seasons basically undid the magic of the show. Before everyone would rave and talk about it. Then after last season everyone forget about the whole thing right away
It still is
@BobbyBigallo nope
The show sucks hard compared to the books
A big part of Tywin's annoyance is the long simmering realization that the child he least likes, respects not at all, is actually the best heir he could have hoped for but cannot, will not, acknowledge.
Tyrion is not the best heir he could have had. He would be the best of his children, but not the best heir. His brother was the best heir, being far more intelligent, capable, better military leader in appearance and strategy, and having less destructive vices.
Tywin was correct about Tyrion, despite his hate.
Imagine what Tyrion would have grown up to be if Tywin loved and respected him.
@BrotherHood-xh9sgTywin destroyed Tyrion by having Jaime lie about Tyrion’s first love being a common wh0re and having her r@ped infront of him. It made Tyrion believe no woman would ever truly love him.
Had Tywin just let Tyrion go, to live a common life, Tywin would have lived longer.
@leblubblabtywin didnt love and care for his other two children either lol. He just didnt dehumanize them the way he did with tyrion.
The funny part is that Tywin isn’t the only one who understands this. In the books, Tywin has a sister, Genna Lannister, who shares the same view. She even discusses it directly with Jamie, explaining that she believes Tyrion is Tywin’s true son, that neither Cersei nor Jaime resembles him as closely as Tyrion does.
Genna grew up alongside Tywin and may be the only person in the Seven Kingdoms who truly knew him without ever fearing him. And every time she looks at Tyrion, she sees Tywin reflected back
"You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg, and there's some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak... but Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you."
Not to mention that Tywin was annoyed that Tyrion was the only one who thought like a ruler...
Exactly!
His worthiest son is the one he will never be able to accept. He recognizes the irony, and it drives him mad.
Pycelle, in his deleted scene with Tywin:
"So many flowers, my lord. Each wanting to grow the tallest or bloom the brightest. And, one by one, sooner or later, they all get plucked. I don't want to be the tallest or the brightest. I only want to remain in the garden. Until my time comes to return to the dirt."
Deleted? Im prety sure i watched this while binging the show
@Restorative. It's actually a deleted scene, not part of the original show, if I remember correctly
Wait I remember watching it
Yes, this is in deleted scenes, where Tywinn is seen fishing, and Pycelle stumbly approached him. Tywinn told Pycelle to drop the guise, and then feeling like his cloak and cover blown, he dropped that explanation.
@rudeerex you watched it on RUclips its a deleted scene
Tyrion just watching the whole thing unravel is my favorite part 😂 he got a show for free unexpectedly
He's really watching them like: You all really fall for this trap? 😅😂
He’s not going to play the game. He is the only one privy to tywins games because he thinks the same way
If Tywin had simply accepted Tyrion as his heir, the Lanasters would have won the game of thrones.
When you put it that way, you're completely right. I was thinking the same thing
The board game?
Yep, because Tyrion played an important role during Daenerys' conquest.
But that's the point. he sees him not as his child but as the one who killed the only person he loved. And yet social obligation forces him to treat him like his son. In of that he is a dwarf which brings him humiliation and sees him as his own failure. The books don't have any flawless characters and that is why they are written so well.
*Lannisters
I like the scene where Oberyn remains seated with his feet on the table when Tywin enters
A idea for a future video 😉👌🏻
In the books, Oberyn was slowly poisoning Tywin Lannister’s bowels. That’s why Tywin was on the privy when Tyrion shot him dead
Stark contrast between oberyn and mace Tyrell, while Tyrell thinks and even says he’s great full of being on the table, oberyn couldn’t give a shit
@NeatBoy727Mace Tyrell is a nobody😂 Olenna wears the balls under her dress
@elmulato7038Just an hypotesis, i like it, but there is little to support it.
Tywin is annoyed because he always wanted Jaime to occupy that seat and he can’t because he’s on the Kingsguard, not realizing that his true image of intelligence and diplomacy is sitting on the other side of the table.
Unfortanely Tywin would never give Tyrion that respect
@YourWesterosGuy1 That’s why Tyrion didn’t waited to recieve it and took it himself
Exactly!
@YourWesterosGuy1 Tyrion was the smartest child of the three
Could have just named him commander of the king guard then he’d have a seat
The mirroring of these shots is making me go crazy lol
Little fingers arm is also blocking everybody from the hand.
Very good observation!
Yeah, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the video. It's very clear here 2:19, with him also directly looking at Tywin.
Even more, the way it is shot, with a bit of focus on the arm movement and the fact that there are only Tywin and Littlefinger in this frame makes it clear that Littlefinger acts as if the others aren't important.
Gods, the writing was strong back then.
Next meeting, Tywin has his meeting at the urinals...
Varie is also taking his place in the center, able to see and observe and know all equally from the middle of everything, the perfect position for a spider
There's also a great moment where Ceresi is pretending to write in a scroll, forcing her audience (Lady Olenna) to wait for her to speak. She learned that from Tywin who himself either used it as a tool to suppress others to his will before they've even spoken, or was legitimately too busy to start when the audience makes itself present.
Amazing, then, that Olenna then speaks up first, outright calling out the charade for what it was. She had no time for that bull.
Only diffrence is we see Tywin ACTUALLY work and thus booth being productive and using it as a tool.
While Cercei in contrast is a lazy lackluster wanna be Tywin that straight up fakes it.
I think she didn't want to be her father, but her nature showed that she really is a daughter of Tywin
I can just hear lady olenna thinking to herself in that moment: “Cersei is not nearly as smart as she thinks she is”
@YourWesterosGuy1 I'd argue cersei wants to be her father more than either of her brothers.
Didn't she view herself as Tywin with teats in the books?
It should be noted that Tyrion is also demonstrated to be Tywin's equal by the action of the scene. He sees the test immediately and lets everyone else compete for the test, favoring watching them above all else. He's collecting the data. He even looks at Cersei almost challenging her to jump into the test next. One other thing Tyrion does to establish himself as equal is he's the first person to speak after he sits.
Though I would also say that this scene, while excellent, is not subtle. And that's not a bad thing. It grinds the show to a halt to have this test making it impossible to ignore and it wouldn't have been that hard to guess what would actually happen if we knew what the test was in advance. And yet it still adds a bit of depth to the characters and helps reinforce the authority of both Tywin and Tyrion.
Love your perspective!
I think it's additionally interesting that Cersei took the least amount of time to act.
@InDadequate You mean the woman whose defining character flaw is that she makes rash decisions that she considers brilliant in the way it overturns the board but actually leaves her more exposed to effective counters by her opponents?
@forgottenfamily thats the one
Gods it was strong then
We got very deep 30 seconds scene of chair drama in early season to "Daenerys forgot the iron fleet" season 8 😅
Not just forgot about it, she addresses it in the scene before that, which made it all even more ridiculous.
*kinda forgot
Pycelle (thinking): Ah...the ol chair gag...
I love the mocking glances Varys makes towards Little Finger
4:53 Joffrey jumpscare
Ah man you got me 😅 RUclips kept copyrighting me , so I had to do something no one would see.. but here you are exposing me 😂😢
😂
😱😱😱😹
2:45 "power doesn't panic" -Cassian Andor.
Nice breakdown but you missed one with Cersie. She did not "drag" her chair, she lifted and moved it with her own strength into position.
And she walked behind the men on purpose so that if they want to see her, they'd have to move their heads, making them physically not facing (=focusing on) Tywin. They'd also need to look up, symbolising that she is above them.
And this may be a stretch, but also walking behind Tywin symbolises that she is the 2nd strongest.
BTW Littlefinger's expression here is so funny. He's upset that he got one-upped by Cersei and is refusing to look at her. His arm tactic is completely useless, hahahha. Where'd your silly smirk go, huh?
Everyone knows the main character always sits in the back by the window
...Qyburn???
Aseildoors air?
Tropic thunder reference
Majority of anime MCs in a school setting 😁
Majority of anime MCs in a school setting 😁
I'm not sure Cersei realized this was a test. I always saw her positioning herself as "Daddy's little girl" / his right hand. Or perhaps she simply refused to sit next to Pycelle, who smells of dead cat 😂
I forget the episode when Tywin says to Cersei, “You’re not as smart as you think you are.”
I feel it speaks to her understanding the rules of the game, and shows her unrelenting willingness to break the rules to grant her power. I feel like she's thinking outside the box for other ways to give herself more importance or power. She's devious, she's smart, and she's willing to break rules to get what she wants.
Her smug smile tells me she's fully aware of what's going on. She's not a child who just wanna sit close to daddy without knowing what the social construct means. She's clever and fully aware of it. Based on her facial expressions (glorious acting on that, btw).
It's a petulant act. Cersei is desperate to prove herself to be powerful and cunning.
Thats why Mace Tyrell always brings his own chair. Hes way ahead of everyone as far a seating arrangements go. When he is named hand of the king, he already has a hand shaped chair prepared just for the occasion and every one puzzles where he got it from so quickly. Might this guy be a secred genius?
Love the idea!
If only he was as smart in military engagements
@Luthando-c6b3yHe stays out of them and he brings Randyll Tarly, thats two smart things.
@danielpaulmann4799like he did during the siege of Storms End?
@Luthando-c6b3y Exactly like he did there. Why destroy his army and fortune to fight in the mad Kings war? He tried no assaults, wasted no lifes and coin. Didn't have to contribute to the larger war effort as long as the siege lasted. He sent a few men to the trident, which shows he knows how far he can go without losing face unlike one Walder Frey. When Robert won there, Mace wasnt the guy who razed his home to the ground and killed his brother. So he could simply bent his knee to Robert without grievance, as the only Loyalist commander with a major victory against him (which wasnt his accomplishment but that didnt keep him from taking credit) and as the only major participant that didnt suffer staggering losses. He left the war more powerfull than he entered it. Didn't even look as bad as Tywin Lannister who played a similar game and joined the winners side.
"Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you," quote rings loud in this scene, tyrion is same same but different, when it comes to his "father".
Well said 👏🏻
Exactly what their Aunt said to Jaime at the siege of riverrun
This reminds me of a writing tip/exercise which is to has the author have their characters enter a room and the challenge is to think how a characters personality or profession will dictate how they enter
"In this poem, why is the curtain blue"
I hadn't given this scene a second thought other than Tywin is testing them, not why or how, thanks for that bud.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
8:17 the way that Varys looks at Tywin like “you’re saying this right?” 😂😂😂
2:25 I don’t think he doesn’t care I think he doesn’t notice because of his hunger for power
2:40 which is why Show Littlefinger and Book Littlefinger are two totally different character. Book Littlefinger is a Smooth Operator, and hides his schemes within other schemes and the second he sniffs danger he’s MILES away.
Yeah but isnt it possible he didnt smell the danger this time? I mean if he was so perfect with his calculation and so careful surely hed get the iron throne.
@holohulolo got to take risks to real power
But at the same time, both versions of Littlefinger do little to actually hide their ambitions the bigger difference is in the books everyone is like "there's no way someone this obviously a backstabbing traitor would actually be a backstabbing traitor" while in the show they are like "Littlefinger is so obvious with his shameless grab for power we'll be able to whatever plans he has coming a mile away".
In the books he is seen as helpful to everyone, nobody suspects him @chrisf5170
Tyrion is merely trolling his father, with whom he has issues.
And if Tywin had paid attention during this scene, he might not have died on the toilet.
I see Tywin has been watching the mentalist
Tyrion is the only one who survives. He sits farthest from power because he knows power consumes and kills you.
I think Tyrion is just not playing. He's saying screw you
He knows his father and his tricks
OR he is issuing a direct challenge to his rule! Tyrion choosing to sit at the opposite end, not at Tywin's side, implies that Tyrion is the only one who will NOT support OR submit to Tywin.
I agree with you for the most part and think your analysis is brilliant.
I'd just add that Cersei and Tyrion do have what I would consider a different level of status because they're related to Tywin.
Littlefinger wants to cozy up to power, and Varys and Pycelle are fine with the layout (I do think Varys might have sat next to Littlefinger wherever he sat in order to keep an eye on him).
But Cersei and Tyrion aren't really counselors. Accepting the seats as Tywin laid them out, even if they could have had the first seat that Littlefinger took, would be setting themselves up as sort of servants to Tywin rather than his children. They both HAD to do something different in order to maintain their status. If they didn't, they would have been accepting lower status than being a Lannister.
Very good point! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this interesting scene with me 🙏🏻
I think if Cersei were there first, she would have taken that first seat but part of her whole play was to show up last.
@B3AST46 Possibly. But that would have put her on the "servants'" side of the table.
I also think Varys sits in the middle so that he can hear everyone, both "above" and "below" him. He's not the master of power, he's the master of whisperers so he wants to hear all the grumbles and grunts and exhaled breaths even from those "far from power".
She put herself in a better position to look at the "council" than Tywin. To read their facial expressions as they answered to him directly and to watch for hesitations. Who is paying attention to her paying attention? She took the best seat in the kingdom in this scene. Her biggest problem is what Tywin said. She's not as smart as she thinks she is... But she was pretty smart. Problem is that can lead to worse problems than just playing a part. Tyrion took the next best seat, but the best seat that he could take. He was exactly as smart as he thought he was and proved it. He took a seat which could not be ignored, wouldn't presume defiance even if it was annoying, and made social sense in that he was going to have to speak up to be heard by all for sitting that far from the man with power. If he didn't speak up he would be the guy whispering and looking Tywin dead in the face, commanding his attention in a way that Tywin wouldn't dare to manage. The room would have to go quiet for Tyrion sitting at the other head of the table at a minimum to make sure everyone was respecting Tywin absolutely from Tywins point of view, and that Tyrion was still an impressive representation of his family from his own point of view. It's part of why he told Shae this is what he's good at. Finding out his value live in front of everyone who hates him.
Just another example of the brilliance and attention to detail that makes this show so incredible and singular.
Little finger played everyone like a fiddle.
A dahm shene where everyone sits down has more characterisation than a seasons worth of some shows
The way Tyrion drags the chair also forces them all to look at him, just like he tends to do. He always makes a point to be seen and heard despite what his father would've wanted from his "malformed son" or whatever they called him. He refuses to hide and makes everyone pay attention to him.
8:23 Right there…the chair sounds like a lion growling.
Classic moment!
nice catch.
No it doesnt
"Hear me Roar!" Are just as much Tyrion's House words as Tywin's.
OMG, YES! This scene has layers.
One more - the posture of Littlefinger - he stretches his left arm, making a barrier between Tywin and others, as if he defends his exclusive right to be close to him.
He really is a pathetic man
This scene was so powerfull for me too. And Tyrion's genius almost leaves you speechless
I always feel like the person who is two seats away is the one that the head of the table pays the most attention to. You have to turn to talk to someone next to you.
Also the fact that everybody came into the room together and made their choices proving their choices weren't circumstantial.
I love the fact that both Cersei and Tyrion, despite recognising the test, still were subject to it. I like things you can know and they still work as intended
And then there is Tyrion. He just wants to be a dick to his father 😂
Tyrion: Right back atcha, Dad.
7:16 Should've said _Cersi's Indignation_
The cleverest part of Tywin's trick was continually reversing the room along one axis. Inverting space like that must have thrown everyone.
Varys also sits in the middle of everyone so that he can track everyone and hears all of their "whispers" . Knowledge is power.
And it was after this scene tywin made tyrian hand of the king while he's away. This was a test to see who he could trust to leave in his stead
Tywin made him Master of Coin here. The moment he makes him Hand is a different scene 😊
@YourWesterosGuy1 are you sure? Okay i don't remember but could've swore it was this scene when everyone left the room he told tyrian to stay back. Its been years so i stand corrected
@onealashley8011 Yes I am sure, because the scene you are talking about is the scene I am currently making 😂
Here you see how serious varys is about his good intentions.
I would have immediately hopped up and taken a dump on the table while looking Tywin dead in the eyes to establish dominance.
😂😂😂
I love how they truly becomes their character and Tyrion is a master mind
I didn’t read the books, but I’d be very surprised if the two guys that adapted the show could have figured this out themselves.
if they did then Cersei wouldn´t be considered a smart character, because in the books shes waaay dumber
And then there comes s8 and swipes all my good memories from the show away again....
10:53 --- Better, until season 7....
the sound of the chair dragging was so funny to me
Pure cinema 😂
Cersi also signaling that she is a Lanister and there's a family trust between her and her father that those other three will never have.
The fool, Tywin should have been proud.
I have often considered, if Joffrey didn't accidentally accuse Tyrion when pointing at the poison cup, and Tyrion wasn't charged for the crime, there's a very real possibility that Tommen picks Tyrion over Tywin as his Hand, and Tyrion saves Margery from Cersei.
Tyrion and Tommen not only had an incredible relationship as uncle and nephew, but in Tommen's eyes, he's been an absolutely positive influence on the capital during his Brother's tyranny. Tommen had the wisdom to see that Tywin would use him as a puppet, while Tyrion would support him in his rule.
If Tyrion simply hadn't approached the cup, the Lannisters would have never fallen.
It's difficult to say how Tommen would handle Danarys, but I find it difficult to believe that he'd let it come to a massive war, especially with the night king coming. And Tyrion would have taken the warnings of the Night's Watch seriously, and given good counsel to Tommen.
That is why I love this scene: all the layered meanings built into the positioning of the various characters and what it says about them.
Brought out the true depth to such a short & seemingly insignificant scene that went over so many peoples heads, mine included.
I don't think anyone tought of it as insignificant, unless you are clubes about power struggles on politics. The scene got me laughing loudly, especially at Tyrion's part.
@rodrigodecastroweiss8271 It definitely went over my head. For something so simple as chair placement I didn’t even consider it might have had an underlying meaning.
Meanwhile the screen writers: ummm yea, that’s exactly why we did it…yes gj”
🤣🤣🤣
Mate season 4 writing was on that level. It just became a kindergarten after 4.
It actually is scripted as mentioned in the video if you see the deleted scene of pycelle talking about "some flowers want to bloom tall & blah blah but some just want to be in the garden. In the garden till theyre buried in the dirt"...some dialogue like that. Otherwise why would they have made this scene of them choosing where to sit so intense & long for no reason?
Tywin’s power comes from the combination of his physical prowess, his ambition, and his intelligence. It’s interesting how he each of his children inherited one of those traits, but none of the others.
-Jamie got Tywin’s physical prowess, but not his ambition and intelligence.
-Cersei got Tywin’s ambition, but not his physical prowess or intelligence.
-Tyrion got Tywin’s intelligence, but not his physical prowess or ambition.
Tywin’s constant frustration through out the series seems to be him trying to hammer at least one additional core trait into at least one of his children. Ironically, the only one he sort of succeeded with was Tyrion, his least favorite.
The way you explain Tywin reminds me of my dad
That Maester is the sneakiest bastard of all these guys 😎😎
He really is! But thats also why he survived for so long 😊
Well, Pycelle also has a powerbase, unlike Littlefinger and Varys. He's a maester and his order has its own priorities. And Pycelle has always been Tywin's man, during the reign of Aerys II and Robert I both.
The chair dragging reminds me of Men in Black and the table. 😂
the writting was strong then
Little Finger struck me as the type of person who did his deeds in the shadows, never making his intentions known, unless he wanted to, but was so obvious with his power play at grabbing the chair next to Tywin.
watching this high and OH MY GOD they ate this shit down this is so cinema
Crazy to think how all of this flew right over my head and I only paid attention to dialogue and actions, little summary and explanations on scenes like this based upon analysis makes me realize all the little details that you can put into just the little details alone.
To add to this, Varys ultimately being placed at the center of the table, with Tywin and Tyrion acting as the two polarities reflects Varys role in acting as a middle power, representing the will of the realm itself, caught between Tarnished Honor and Unsung Valor.
I feel like you put more thought into it than the writers
The game of chairs
It really is 😂
Musical Chairs.
It just goes to show that Tyrion was the best candidate to lead the family.
Dame i knew the show was good, but i didn't know it is this good.
The show is absolutely amazing once you dive even deeper in it! 😊
this set-up was in the book coming from George's mind or was made by scriptwriters??
how this scene exists in the same show as "she's muh queen" is truly a marvel. brilliant scene and analysis
watch tyrions face as he enters the room... he spots the gambit immediately and give the smallest flash of half smile. then as littlefinger moves, and knowing smile. having already served as hand and knowing his father he better than anyone in the room understands tywinns motives. he pulls the chair to the end of the table as an act of defiance, demanding his father acknowledge him as an equal.
Tell me you are english teacher without telling me that you are english teacher
3:55 or it was no choice of his since littlefinger took the first chair😂
Lol. But hey don't spoil it
😂
Facts
Thanks for this reminder of how great the show used to be.
And thank you for watching! 😊
This is peak Game of thrones
Think that you're wrong about Cersi. I believe that it's more about her status than it is about intelligence.
I rewatched got up to season 7 a few months back, never noticed this. I chalked it up to simple defiance. Great video very well put together.
I think it's telling that Littlefinger is literally the only person in the room who never had to deal with Tywin in any manner. Not closely. Which just makes the childish stepping in front of Varys - who is probably the only person Littlefinger actually recognized as a rival/threat - that much funnier.
Varys has information. Pycelle has his own uses - and he's playing a long con on his end too - as a maester. Cersei thinks she's Tywin with breasts. And Tyrion has grown up with these people one way or another. Littlefinger is the only one out of his depth.
Which is telling since Tywin sort of makes everyone around him drown sooner or later.
Littlefinger isn't out of his depth with anyone. I'm not counting the "two young girls outsmarted him" bullsh*t. That does not come from the books. Tywin wouldn't be what he is if his last name wasn't Lannister. The only character on par with Littlefinger is the Night King.
@ggsplinter what you smoking bro?
@BilboGandalfhogan something good. Littlefinger recognized Arya, but didn't tell Tywin it was the younger Stark daughter. He did it so he can use that information later in a better way to suit his agenda. Tywin knew something was not right with that girl and that she was from the North, but never bothered to find out how exactly she got there. Hence, Littlefinger is smarter than Tywin. He only serves him because that's his station and his role in the kingdoms. Tywin was one of the high lords that Littlefinger successfully manipulated.
It’s the next bit when they play the music and Tywin makes everyone walk around the table and then has one chair removed, is where it gets revealing.
This made me laugh 😂
I do wonder if Tyrion would have done this if he hadn't seen Cersei move her chair first.
It's also debatable whether he is taking the position to declare himself a fellow leader at the head of a table....or if he chose it to be in opposition to his father, expressed by literally sitting in opposition. One is a power move, one is a rebellious child move.
kids, it's just table. just sit down anywhere
😂
You could explain and justify any of them sitting in any of the spots.
Probably
it was not a trick, it was all in plain sight
Tywin... Read everyone perfectly... Just not his own monster son !! Sad.
Outstanding video...I thought it was also noteworthy that Cersei positioned her chair not facing the table like everyone else, but at an angle to where she's facing everyone else almost as if she's kind of co-running the meeting with Tywin.
Thank you! 😊
