Wow! Thank you! Saw this on my way of filming another buffet video with a friend. It will cover the second meal in my next video! My friend says thank you
Jeju mandarins actually have their roots in Korea. Citrus fruits like the mandarin have been recorded being grown in Jeju during the Goryeo dynasty era and were so valued that their consumption was reserved for the Imperial Family of Goryeo. However, much later, some Japanese mandarin seeds were introduced by a French missionary that arrived in Korea in the 1900s and cross pollinated with the native Jeju mandarin species and eventually made the Jeju Hallabong variety we see today. So technically, Korea did not take it from Japan. It just happened that some Native Jeju Mandarins and some Japanese mandarin plants made babies because of a naughty French man haha. Species compatibility is very likely between Korea and Japan due to the proximity and history. For example, Akitas and Shiba Inus descended from Korean Jindo and Bulgae breeds and still have high genetic compatibility with each other. And culturally, Korea introduced the concept of grilling meats to Japan like Japan's version of the Korean BBQ, Yakiniku.
Interesting history haha thanks for the lecture professor. And i agree it's pretty inevitably for neighboring countries to not have cultural mix-up through exchange.
Citrus plants hybridize easily regardless of their origin/proximity. Almost all modern citrus fruits descend from three original plants (bitter orange, pomelo, mandarin) and were cultivated in ancient China.
@@magical11 point taken, but Jeju mandarins are endemic to Korea though due to them not having any genetic matches with any mandarin variants in China and Korea has also cultivated citrus fruits especially in the Southern Korean Peninsula and adjacent islands near it like Jeju and citrus cultivation has also been in other cultures where the climates are more temperate, not just China.
Every dish looked so freaking good, I'm sorry they didn't end up being as delicious as they appeared. The bokkeumbap looked amazing! I was hoping you'd make a Minari reference, heh. Finally, your 「Hmm, ごめんなさい Japan...」 literally made me lol 🤣
I was very impressed with their street foods. Street food tends to be mediocre in Korea (in my personal opinion), but Jeju had foods that are actually very tasty and unique.
Great video as usual! Really loving the quality of your vids + your humor paired with it is just *chefs kiss* Also, street food in Korea looks so good!!
honestly this guy's video is so good its so relaxing and wholesome at the same time...his voice and the way ajumma treat him like a little kid makes me want to smooch him too :(
We enjoyed the hotteok that the woman at the start of the video made. She is at the entrance to gate 1 at Dongmun market. If you ever go to Jeju, that market is a must.
I like that you are not above criticizing foods; usually when I encounter food buffet vids etc. they end up loving everything which I find hard to believe my personal favourite in south korea is high quality bbq, which I already loved before I went to south korea. The street food i found in Seoul I somehow never liked, maybe I did not try the right ones, thus I will scour your channel for recommendations. Will try the next time im gonna be over there :)
JIMMYYYYYYYY, i used to watch every new video you posted on your old channel, but then you disappeared from my feed for a long time, till i discovered this channel yesterday and binged all your videos. And honestly, i enjoy this content much more, and you seem to enjoy it much more too !!! The channel seems to be doing good so we won't have to worry much about you being poor anymore soon x))) Keep making great content!!! ( i also feel bad for laughing at your pg 18 jokes XD )
Jimmy another great video with lots of great food! I would’ve made the same choices for sure! I wish that I can go visit Jejudo and eat lots of good food!
***ITS LIKE THEY KNEW MY MOM NEVER GAVE ME ATTENTION WHILE GROWING UP*** bro that cracked me up big time. thanks for the laugh and the amazing food tour brother!!!
I love Mikey Chen but I missed the times when he would add something substantial and added info about the places he goes to. Also Im not into massive mukbang type food dat Mikey does even more frequently. So Im glad I discovered Jim's channel. Hope to see your channel grow and pls continue to give info tidbits and interviews on the people u interact with. 😊
as an american living in South Korea right now, I love your videos and you're honestly hilarious. i'm going to go scout out the places that you mention in your videos because i love protein as much as you do.
I just discovered your channel from the “10$ buffet” video and I really really enjoy your videos!! You’re funny, you’re realistic and kinda give that calm and welcoming feeling. I hope to see more in the future. Cuz I’m now gonna watch u daily‼️
Yakiniku, seaweed sushi came from Korea. i don't think it's about stealing but rather more like inevitable cultural exchange over time being neighbouring countries
Just watched this wonderful video, Jimmy. So happy to enjoy your sharing and I m impressed to understand what you say (as in English) and what you think. Interesting
Can't wait to visit Jeju. It looks like a paradise for foodies. Political conflicts separates people, and tasty deliciousness unites people. Good food, friendly locals and good photo locations and this Norwegian "Waeguk-saram" is a happy camper. Life doesn't have to be complicated.
I just discovered your videos, and I'm sorry that you seem to have a LOT of bad experiences with your personal life but it surely made for some funny jokes! lol! love your content!
I went to Jeju twice but now watching your video I missed out on dessert. I’m going again this summer I want to try jeju orange dessert. I love your narration 😆 I tried the abalone kimbap and I remember it being so so too.
I love how this guy have a perfect balance of being able to teach us things while also cracking jokes in between
those jokes making me hit the subs button
frrr i hope his channel becomes even bigger !
The "it reminds me of my heart, when woman take it and squeeze it mercilessly" had me laughing so hard
These are my favorite videos - Korean Market street food is what has me the most excited for my trip - cannot wait! 🙏🏻😁
Sheeesh
Tha ks for suporting Uncle Jimmy
Wow! Thank you! Saw this on my way of filming another buffet video with a friend. It will cover the second meal in my next video! My friend says thank you
I am out of ideas for the street foods as they tend to be pretty similar everywhere else in Korea, though haha... I'll think of something!
@@jimmykimtv may be a video on ethnic food? Indian or Vietnamese? Something cheap but tasty 💕
The smile of old people when they see someone enjoing their food Is heartwarming for me . Tank you for your videos ❤️❤️

I don't know how I've never seen your videos but I'm hooked now!!!
The first old lady still serving food at her age with a smile, what a beautiful thing to see.
i like your honest opinion on the streetfoods.
some youtubers always fake smile , fake reactions and fake taste test.
i love your videos i’ve been here since 20k you’ve grown so fast. Glad to see it
The 1st lady in the video reminds me of the philosophy of Ikigai, where the old still work not because of money but to calm their minds.
First yt channel that i actually activated the bell, cant wait for your next video. keep up the good content
All the food looks so good Jimmy, you made the right choices!
