Can you do a video of ya house build complete please dean, if when it's finished, I'm sure we would all like to see that, you should be very proud, a place for you and ya boys and family to have many memories
Absolutely my friend. ....Bricklayer born a bred 50yrs...5 year apprenticeship 16 to 21....2 nights and one full day at college..... didn't pick a brick up for nearly 2yrs...then pointing ...find ya own bucket handle on the railway embankments. ..then labour for another year...and finally fit and trusted to do the biz and still dapping them down at 71yrs young 👌👍✌

Personally as a older bricklayer i would have a profile each corner guage marked on it and a line pulled straight through for speed, accuracy and alignment, eyeballs only get you so far 👍
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650skilled me bollicks any bricklayer would pull a line from one corner to the other for alignment, I can build corners as quick freehand as any trowel and plumb and level and to gauge but it's quicker and more accurate to use profiles
I’m 34 bricklayer for 17 years from wales and moved to Australia over 10 years ago, absolutely love laying bricks but the passion and love from others is ruining the game, I had to leave the tree about 3 months ago due to money fluctuating too much, I became a construction supervisor and now I’m running 40 houses but they will be built with the love and passion I was taught as a whopper snapper, miss laying everyday but was time for me to progress
Whether we like it or not , bricklaying has changed. In the modern world we no longer build walls 1,2 or even 3 bricks thick. We now clad buildings in a coat that is one half brick thick. We use steel or concrete to span opes and as a result we rarely have the chance to showcase the full range of our bonding and cutting skills. However, watching you reminds me that the same principles apply to the traditional and the modern and I hope you keep putting out your great videos. Keep up the good work.
Need more of him in this world traditional values, as well as work ethic teaching,he’s sons the right way .👏🏻 See your boys fight fantastic fight both lads tough was not a lot in that but he’s bloody guard any more coming up ? On the boxing channels keep up the vids be good to see you tour and update of yours
Make it look so easy, love watching . Carpentry and joinery is my game but bricklaying interests me. I would love to be able to learn. Great video Dean
The labourers have to up there game because of profiles, where before you’d build up 2 big corners and give the lab time to get ahead, with the profiles your on the money straight away,to be honest labs don’t have to mix nearly anymore,my shoulder is fucked from doing it,English style of work is a lot easier on the body than in Ireland
They still used profiles on victorian houses. Im a traditionalist myself 34 years in the game. If your on price and can get up early and finish at 330 mixer cleaned and tools in van. Why the fuck not. My grand built corners. But im still learning from the youth of today. A message gained is a lesson learnt. Tararsing or chillin with good. Gang gang. 😮
Brilliant as always mate, I only get to see You in here, I don’t have instagram or anything. Hopefully you’ll put some more content out soon, keep up the excellent work buddy..

Your spot on about the standard on big sites its embarrassing and spot about profles never though about it before because when i started it was standard but what your saying is spot big love❤
Good to get you back mucka, been following you for yonks, you're a younger me, I'm 74, still doing a bit when my son gets bogged down (them concrete blocks are a killer now) but laying bricks with no pressure is good for the soul. Stay with it.
How are you mate Yeah thing is with this platform it brings u in touch with the new generation and I read some of the comments and think Jesus Christ 😂
Loved the video!! What is the oldest age you could become a bricklayer considering what you hear of the shortage of bricklayers currently according to most?? Thanks and keep up the good work
Great work! Iv been a Plasterer for 30 years and that’s dying now, they can barely skim on a bit of board now and have to spray their render and can’t screed a floor or make a cornice! It’s nice to see the old school in the trades. I’m off work ill at the moment but once the surgeon’s have fixed me I’d love to get on the brick trowel, maybe even get a little bit good by the time I retire. Keep up the good work lads. 💪🏻👊🏻
The ground works site manager should have made the work area safe for you to carry out your brickwork safely. The pit falls cavities. You shouldn't have to straddle the wall to stabilise yourself.
Christ almighty if that’s true that’s a real bummer, it looks like Dean has put a lot of soul into that house. Strange he might be in financial difficulties though as I remember him saying awhile back that he has a “ property portfolio “ abroad 🤷♂️
I'm not a bricklayer just love watching your video and others of same trades, was wondering do you use or not guidelines to show placements? Wicked work m8👍🙏
How powerful is your trowel lol 😆 the fact you can cut a full brick in half and get a near perfect if not perfectly cut half brick is just impressive and it seems like you dont even need a spirit level, top notch skilled tradesmen 🎉 🧱
Nothing better in England than laying some bricks and listening to queen while doing it. 💪

Laying a row that close without a tap is so much harder than it looks. Muscle memory is insane .

You have laser eyes my man 😊
Neat and tidy as usual..Great work..
What mix do you guys use any lime at all? Great work👍
Totally agree with you , the nvq system is crap not like the traditional apprentices , i love building corners its the proper way
I know the other Brickie is his name simon i worked with him 40 years ago he looking good for someone of about 80 years old..
Yes he’s back 😊
Hi, what have u put on the top of the level so u can give it a wee donk? Cheers
Nice brickwork never goes out of fashion . This will look fantastic long after your fancy render has cracked and dropped off.
God bless
Just lash the bricks down on price 👍😜
Is that 150 mm cavity with the insulation there.
Very skilled trowel. The young lad though needs to be told to screw the fixings in on a wall starter not hammer them.
Going on bigman are you going for the bricklaying competition a have done as big player.
Proper solid job pal, are those stocks you are using also? How’s the house build coming on as well, would love to see a video about that soon !
do you ever gauge or do you have a good eye for it?

The best way passing on the knowledge is to hire a few apprentices

use a profile ,and don't let that boy hammer the screws into the wall fixing
Not a full perp to be seen. Double tipper. Apart from that. You're right about everything you say.

Stop hitting your level and furrowing your mud😊
Not bad phone considering ya dropped it in water by looks of ya filming pal
There's a huge shortage of the old school brickie... very much under valued and over worked.
