Hello Poolarity - Life Hacks: Thank you for taking the time and effort to product this excellent, easy to follow, tutorial and demonstration on how to set up the location and connectivity of the First Alert {BRK} SCO500 series smoke/carbon monoxide detector alarms. Your instructions saved many frustrating minutes trying to read the absurd "tiny print" instructions that came with my units. Much appreciated.
This is a great video. One question. If I do this for smoke detectors in an apartment, what keeps them from being interconnected with smoke detectors that someone else might have in another apartment in the same apartment building? I don't want my detectors to go off when someone else's detectors are going off in another apartment unit.
Yours won't trigger the other unless you and the other apartment sync them together on purpose. Watch this section of his video 04:28 - Connect 2 Alarms (Interconnect). Also, the wireless capability is pretty limited. I have two that are about 30ft from each other but on two different floors separated by a door. If the door is open, they communicate. If the door is closed, only one will go off.
Anybody have issues with these units suddenly starting to intermittently beep? Like very irregular. I’ve changed the batteries, the unit is clean and I’ve taken the batteries out/done a reset and then put the batteries back in. It’s like a few times a day, one or two beeps and that’s it. Model SCO500. Unit was manufactured less than 1 yr ago
One thing this video doesn’t show is just how surprisingly loud the voice is. I’m trying to the location thing and I had to put headphones on since it was really killing my ears.
I don't like these. Photoelectric alarms always seem to go off, likely because you have to clean them more often, which I don't, but there is one thing I appreciate about these. THE LOWER PITCHED SOUND! The 3500hz beeps most smoke alarms make are so much worse for your ears, or at least it feels that way. I heard low pitched sounds at the same volume are just as bad, but whatever.

Thanks! Very helpful. First Alerts instructions were printed in such a small font I couldn't read it 😁.
Your video saved me.
You saved me a lot of time and frustration. Thank you! (new subscriber)
Thank you! So much better than the directions.
How do you test the interconnection once they’re all connected?
Thanks for the video ... I purchased three units and your video helped me setup.

Thank you, the manual is not clear on programming location. You solved my problem. ❤
Very helpful! Thank you!
How do you know they working ok? I changed the batteried but I’m not sure if they are working. No lights…
How many alarms can you pair? I have 16 alarms total
Hello, were you able to interconnect all of them?
Yes but I have 4 extra
Better than the directions thanks
If I interconnect them to each other will they still be connected to my ring alarm app?
Thanks!
Can you silence them with a remote by hitting the mute button or no
How do you inter connect 8 of them? Do you have to do that step 8 times on inter connecting?
Yes, just repeat for all 8
I can only get 2 to work together
did you ever get this figured out so you can pair all eight of them? @@5KiTl3z0r8
