- An early-spring closeup to the new stairs of Egremni beach in Lefkada island in Greece.
The nice weather lately from the end of February to the beginning of March pushed us towards the west coast of Lefkada and the famous beach of Egremni in particular.
It was the 26th of February with temperatures rising as high as 20C, we just didn't ask for more!!
We have been hearing for a while about the project of the construction of the new stairs, that gives full access to the beach of Egremni, but as we thought all these are possibly just rumours, we wanted to take a look with our own eyes.
What we saw was a really amazing project put in place, which finally changes the whole access to that wonderful beach of Lefkada, and most probably will bring the visitors back.
Actually, we prefer the beach less busy and crowded, but hey, this is well-done work, that needs some cheer up anyways :)))

As long as the beach stays pristine as it is, it is a paradise on earth. Because Greece has many beaches, like this one that is completely unique and special.
Completely, a beach only for the mystified ones :)
There is also Porto Katsiki, it is a similiar one by the color of the water. But since you need to walk 1.3km to get to Egremni, it is way less crowded, even in summer, so it is more enjoyable.
Tnx to Slovenian alpine climbers, who helped put up the new fence. Our tourist guide told us about it.

Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of this beach! It's unbelievable!
But I think that neither the road nor the stairs are going to last very long. Even if no significant earthquake happens any time soon, that hillside is extremely unstable and ominous. The rockfalls are incessant and the soil keeps sliding also underneath any construction. The level of danger is very high.
I've been to this place 10 years ago and till this day I did not see a more beautiful beach! I felt heartbroken after the earthquake! Let's hope that there will be no incident during peak season while it's full of turists
Hey astral romance you are very exaggerated, cross the road in your city or drink a glass of water is dangerous too.
I went there 1 week ago and the new road is protected with nets and it is really safe. They didnt open the new road yet but i think this is going to come. You need a little walk (1.2km) to get to the beach but it is really woth it. Also there is some rocks falling when you are on the beach but they are really small and there is not a lot falling. I really enjoyed this beach with the magical color of the sea !

I was in lefkada in 2018 but a year before there was an earthquake. I missed egremni but next time hope we will comeback and finally see this wonderful beach 😀 Is this bridge actually real in 2021?

How many steps are there to the bottom? Please tell me also is there a parking at the top for cars? Is it possible to get to Egremni Beach by car?
It is almost 420 steps to the beach, but you need to walk another 1,5km prior to reaching the steps. Small parking area, but plenty enough if you aim to visit very early in the morning, when everybody else is sleeping

Does anyone know how long it takes to get back to the top?
Please check out related video on going back to te parking. It should take from 30 to 45 minutes or more, according to your physique, and the stops you make. Please avoid doing it during high season and high temperatures.
The material that they used for the steps are of low quality. We were there two weeks ago and many of the steps already have tiny holes in them. This is because there are small stones lying on the steps and when people step on those stones, they press right through the material of the step and thereby creating a hole. Roughly 30% of all the steps already have these tiny holes in them. This is already before the first tourist season started, so I guess that by the end of this season those steps will have lots of weakness in them due to the many holes per step.
Other than that weakness, the stairs in themselves and how they were laid out is wonderful and a gift to all of us to make use of the beach.
Oh yes, the final stretch of road (1.2km) towards the start of the steps is also closed, so one cannot drive to the end by car and have to park it on top and climb through a hole in the fence to walk down that road towards the start of the steps. This beautiful new road is closed due to falling rocks on the road. The parking space before this new road is small, so come early. Luckily most of the spots are in shade, so the cars don't get too hot during the day.

Is the gate open or is it still a construction site?
The final part of the new road of 1,5 km to the upper kiosk, is still closed with an iron gate, as the last turn to the kiosk still needs some repairing.

Of course Kateryna. It is quite demanding but also rejuvenating upon accomplishment 💪👌 Alternatively, we run private speedboat tours to Egremni and the west coast of Lefkada 💦😊

Its a long way up and down and with no beach facilities like toilets' etc....I will pass....looks like a day boat trip only
We know that, so we have managed to have a pretty descent range of private boat trips, going to Egremni beach and the surrounding islands Theo :)
Thank God there are no “facilities”.
Once you install your precious facilities this beautiful beach will be destroyed, like so many others.
