Nowhere near the conditioning of Shawn. For example to abs and thighs shot. It is a night and day difference the striations in the thighs and conditioned midsection just flowed way better with Shawn’s physique. He was the rightful Mr. O, but Roelly was definitely a close second

Well done to Phil for being such a deserving Champion for so long, the mid section finally caught up to him though, Flexatron is a true G and bought that package that could dethrone a king, a great contest, the most exciting in years!
Phil wasn’t “off.” His loss wasn’t a conditioning problem, just simply a side effect from taking hgh for over 15yrs. It’s just finally come to the point where it can’t be controlled. He’s had a good run, but reached his peak many years ago. Moving forward, no matter how hard he works, he will look worse and worse every year.
Andy Wheat HGH and insulin are the only things that separate him and the “weekend warriors” in the Classic Physique division. I’m glad Shawn with his aesthetic physique won. I hope this starts a new trend.

Kai Greene’s a quitter. Roelly’s the new people’s champ! And was robbed of 2nd place. Phil’s low lat insertion is the only thing he had over Roelly. Roelly was more tight and aesthetic than Phil.

I have only seen a few pictures... Roelly is incredibly big (missing definition on pictures it seems), but talking about aesthetic, He has none.Obviously we have a different point of view about aesthetics. :)

So happy, watched the second half of the show on the live feed from my phone. I was yelling and cheering so loud with the final verdict for Shawn Rhoden that I feel horse today. Nice job Nick! You forgot to mention that Phil had a Sheen of water over his entire body both nights, and this allowed the world to finally step back and see what many of us have seen already 4 years. He does not have an "X frame",
..... And like all of us with human genetics, he has to deal with what he has been given. Without wide shoulders, it means that many of his poses including a crucial front lat spread look very awkward. With the long femur bone that he has, it also makes shots like the hands over head abdominal looks strange, sort of like he is a frog standing up not knowing what to do with his legs. I sound critical, but with bodybuilding the fact is that every single one of these guys has to deal with the genetics they were given, and it sure seems like certain people are docked much much heavier for there genetic flaws than other people like Phil. To me.......... This x-frame is such a crucial part of bodybuilding that someone like Tony Freeman on his best day should beat fill every time given that everything else such as muscle size and leanness Etc are equal. Just my humble opinion.

IMO the 2019 Olympia will be one of the greatest of all time. You'll have Ramy who finally understands his mistakes (apology post) and will be doing his best to come in conditioned and shredded, a highly motivated Phil Heath looking to regain his crown, and Shawn doing his best to keep the crown. It's going to be epic!!!

There is a reason why champions can't get passed 8X or Struggle to get to 8x... this sport takes a toll on your health, I hope Phil is not down with some serious health issue, and hope he comes back.
I really love how Shawn has shutted up those all those mouths saying that this year he even wouldn't crack the top6... I did a marvelous job, improved a lot his upper body (legs weren't his greatest point this year), so really proud of this humble family man! Thumbs up for Shawn!

Saw Shawn at the Chicago Fit Expo in June of this year. There was talk of him being in the hospital before the expo because of a serious health issue and you could see he had lost some size and was recovering. The way he must have dieted and trained after that must have been fierce as hell. A truly earned Mr.Olympia

Shawn single handedly set a new tone for a new era. Shawn gave the judges the authority to set a new standard! Yes size will matter, but now so will the midsection, and more than ever! Shawn is the fusion of old school Arnold and the new school. Now the players will come to the competition working/worried on their whole game.

If they knocked Phil down for his mid section kai would have been in last place...extremely blocky mid section and doesn't seem to have improved it while he's been away from bodybuilding..if rolley can get his mid section under better control surely kai could have while not competing

We see that you don't follow bodybuilding much....When Kai won his last Arnold Classic his midsection was dialed in tight. He was one of the BB'ers that listened to Arnold's rants, were Phil instead decided to talk shit about Arnold and say he didn't have any legs while continuing to show up every year with a gut. He shouldn't have gotten a 7th with that gut and glad the judges finally pulled their heads out his ass so he didn't get an 8th and tie with the all time greats. If Kai is competing the gut is in check now.

It's not just the size of the gut, it is also the shape of it... Phil's gut is deformed along with being so big, it doesn't matter how much is Phil able to hold it in, it looks worse than Ronnie's back in the day... Kai's gut is big, but it is not deformed in a way that muscles are... missaligned, if you will. Besides, in 2014. olympia Kai's midsection was great; ripped, under control... Phil came in looking like a baloon... He had no obliques or abs, water everywhere... He should't have placed 4th, much less 1st.
I'm happy for both Roelly and Shawn. Those guys worked hard and looked great and they were rewarded.
Last year was the final time Phil was forgiven for his bubble gut.

I thought William Bonac will take the first place. Didn't had a favorite, but I wanted Phil not to win. Not because I don't like him (I neither do, nor don't), but because I didn't want him to go down in history as one of the most-winning Olympias of all time. Congrats to Shawn. I'm completely satisfied with the results. I surely didn't thought he will win, but he managed to surprise me, and, I guess, many others. Great job, Shawn.
