Sometimes the painting Gods smile and your paint consistency is perfect, the hair dryer is pushing around the paint the way you like, and all is right with the world. Wouldn't it be great if every pour was like this? In this video I demonstrate Sheleeart bloom technique on 4 smaller 8x8” canvases. I'm using Australian Floetrol as my cell activator and you can find the bloom technique recipe, colors, brands, etc below. Enjoy and let me know which one is your favorite! xoxo --Karen
Colors/Brands/Bloom Recipe:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the canvas:
Glidden Essentials Eggshell White House paint (Home Depot) 4 cup batch mixed with 1/4 cup Golden GAC800 to prevent crazing
Pouring Medium aka PM-mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Sherwin Williams HGTV Ultra Deep Base UNtinted house paint (you can substitute with Behr Interior/Exterior High Gloss Enamel DEEP Base #8300 (Home Depot)); Minwax Polyacrylic Gloss varnish ; 2:1 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well.
Brands/Colors mixed: This Little Pigment colors: Caramel Drizzle
Matisse High Flow Acrylics: Southern Ocean Blue
Golden High Flow Acrylics: Indian Yellow Hue; and Quinacridone Violet
Pebeo Studio Acrylics in Iridescent Blue-Green
All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it, then added into 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
For the tube paint (Pebeo), add 1 oz. to nearly 3 oz. PM; mix well, and add a little varnish to get the same consistency as the other colors mixed with high flow paint.
Cell Activator (last color on your puddle before you swipe or blow it out-no PM):
Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Prussian Blue mixed with a dollop of Black Oxide; plus a second cell activator in Amsterdam Deep Gold. 4:1 ratio Floetrol to paint

Hello Karen!!! Long time not here! Been busy! Must catch up on all of the vids of yours I missed. This one (as all of them are) is awesome! Each one turned out more beautiful than the last, not in any order...if you know what I mean. Just loved them all. Wow, Wow, Wow & Wow! That story about the lady on the plane slayed me. Though, when you said for the 2nd time, "the baby was still sleeping", I thought it was real fishy! On the other hand... good for you... you didn't have to deal with a screaming infant! That 3rd piece had a Japanese garden feel to it ~ I liked them all ~ You're really creative with using a variety of paint types' ~ Your paints look thicker then I'm used to seeing ~ But I think it makes the colors look richer ~ With each piece that you created ~ I could picture them hanging on different wall colors ~ Beautiful! 😍

I like all 4 of these blooms! Really love the Prussian blue and black mix and gold for a CA as it makes incredible cells that are so pretty! I really enjoy listening to your stories Karen, you attract people because you are so nice! The world would be boring if we didn’t have some strange people to add to the mix! Too funny though, a fake baby! Wow. Hey at least their wasn’t any dirty diaper smells to endure LOL.
