  • In this video, Joe demonstrates how simple it is to create your own grad shirt on demand using the IColor 650 with iColor two step standard paper. Here we demonstrate the beautiful, deep, dark blacks the printer can create, even while no black toner is loaded into the machine (CMYW Configuration).
The 650 uses the latest generation printer engine, so It is critical to follow the media instructions exactly. In this case, since we are printing dark blacks, adding a little more time to the marrying process of around 20-30 seconds is recommended. In some climates, you might have to also raise the temperature a few degrees as well and/or add some short “dwell” time before peeling. Peel in a smooth continuous motion!
    The steps are as follows:
    1) Print using the CORRECT dedicated print mode for your IColor media. VERY IMPORTANT! In this case we are using IColor 2 step standard so we picked the same selection in the ProRIP software
    2) Marry for 140 seconds at 310 degrees (we added 20 seconds more than normal here because the graphic has dark blacks). More heat, time, or increased dwell time might be needed in your specific climate. Cover with siliconized parchment or with the iColor black or white marrying cloths. Peel in a smooth continuous motion!
    3) Trim edges away and discard
    4) layout on shirt and tape in place using heat resistant heat tape
    5) Press for another 30 seconds (lower temp to preserve colors as much as possible), Peel away in a tight roll!
    6) Finish with IColor Tseal to remove the shine and make VERY durable for maximum washability
    7) Show your friends what you made!
