    The fight for equal pay should be fought by getting more people to watch women's tennis, it's really that simple.

    • @tjg801

      It’s the same with WNBA. You can’t demand equal pay if you don’t bring in equal revenue. It’s as simple as that. The women also play best of 3 when men play best of 5 for slams. They play half as long, so technically get paid twice as much based on hours worked.

      That’s actually not the issue. The issue is no one wants to sponsor wta tournaments because they women players never want to fulfill the sponsorship obligations to the title sponsor. So they struggle with sponsorship which is actually a bigger problem than selling tickets. They don’t understand sponsors aren’t just giving them free money, and they are more concerned with their individual sponsors

    I don't comment often at all but wanted to give some positive feedback: This is definitely the best format you've done so far and it reminds me of why I like similar channels like Jxmyhighroller for sports. A focus on the sports with a good mix of the players lives and nothing dragged on longer than it should be. I also think the videos capture my attention more when I have more seconds to see the clips of each player vs you in the forefront. Nothing personal you do an amazing job and you're clearly being enthusiastic- but more time viewing the players will always capture my attention higher. Even just seeing their ending game handshake can be very interesting.
    Keep up the good work! This is definitely a quality channel now and summarizes what would take me weeks to do on my own with reddit/the news. You're making a big impact on our ability to keep up with tennis while still keeping our personal lives going. Otherwise, tennis would maybe have to give.

    I hate when high paid tennis players complain about their life and how they want it to be easier. What I would do to get a life as Bublik has. And a lot of people too. There are people that don't have enough money to feed their families. Theres people that work hard every day in a boring job, just to have a roof over their head. And someone who plays tennis for their living, travels the world and gets paid enough money to get what he wants, to choose what tournament he can play and he is gonna complain? This is ridiculous. I will gladly change my position with his. He is not an ITF player that have it hard, to get the right to f* complain.

    • @andrewmccauley6262
      @andrewmccauley6262 3 месяца назад +12

      Complaining about Bublik's life is not going to make yours better. And Bublik has a right to try to earn as much as he can. The tennis tournaments, organisations etc. etc. make an INCREDIBLE amount of money off him, far more than he gets in compensation from them. If you want to complain about greed, complain about them. Support everyone who does hard work to earn as much as they can.
      Complaining about others having a relatively good life is exactly what your corporate overlords want, so they can have an INSANELY good life, while you waste your time complaining about Bublik.

So, what is the penalty for the official? He was also playing around. Is this a lose lose situation for the tennis player only? And how did this even got brought to light? Did the official start crying and whent to the higher ups and complained? Or did Gael feel bad for what happened, and went to get medical help, and then unfair tennis rules got Gael disqualified? Did the official lose his job for playing around and due to his silliness got injured? We will never know i guess but this is ridiculous. Tennis never fails to amaze me when stuff like this happens.

    A summary of some of my thoughts:
    I am not against equal pay but you can't determine that there should be equal pay based on ratings, like say, of a GS final. If Nadal is in a US Open final against Anderson and Serena is in the final against Venus, the women's final will be more popular. But likewise, if it's a Fedal final and a Serena-Pliskova final, the men's will be more viewed. Women's tennis is the most popular women's pro sport next to golf, so let's not act like the disparity is vast like the NBA/WNBA. Also, events like Indian Wells and the majors have both the men and women, and many people watch both during their stays at the venue, so how to you determine who is there to see what? Most people probably watch both, but there are certainly some who only come for one or the other. Some will go to a men's match for an hour, find it uninteresting, then go to another court where there's a tight ladies match (and vice-versa).
    The 3 vs 5 set debate has been going around forever, but also remember that while Bo3 is less physical, there is also greater risk in being upset as a top seed. Think of the majors the big 3 wouldn't have won if they played Bo3. French 09 (RF vs Haas), French 11 (RN vs Isner), USO 11 (ND vs Fed), AO 12 (ND vs Murray), AO 20 (ND vs Thiem), FO 21 (ND vs Tsitsipas), AO 22 (RN vs Medvedev). I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting as well.
    Thiem isn't going to have anywhere near the level of success the big 3 have had in their 30s. The injury issues he has had are worse than even Rafa's were in his 20s. The best he can hope for is to have a late career like Murray or Hewitt had. I'll eat my words if he comes back to the top 10 but I don't see it. Thiem has been back for a while and if he proved he could be back at his old form he would be.
    I understand the frustration with the schedule for players who aren't at the top. If you are at the top you can take time off after Australia, Miami, Wimbledon, and US Open - that's what Roger did every year. But he could do that because he gained so many points in the 12-15 tournaments he played. For someone 30-80, consistently going out in the early rounds, yeah, you have to play a lot. It sucks, and it's not fair to say "practice more, play less" because financially a lot of guys can't afford to take time off to improve. The solution might be to make the Masters tournaments bigger and cut out more of the smaller tournaments, but the tour would never go for that.
    As for the Saudi situation, they are using their money to buy their way into sports, whether people like it or not. There is no if, only when. Hopefully along the way there are enough influential people involved that can make a real difference in human rights in Saudi Arabia. Ultimately the players will have no problem if it means more money gets injected into the sport and prize money for each round starts doubling.

    Wta Gs are just Masters with 1 day brakes. 🙄 But yes, no matter the sets. If the revenue is equal or more what Rafa said. There are select cases where wta GS finals made more views then atp. Us Open with Serena in the final, but the is a very rare case where factors like finalist notoriety and country where the tournament is hold plays a big role. There are places where you shouldn't have wta or at tournaments because there isn't an audience for it. I am talking about 250, 500 tournament's.

    I stopped watching tennis this year after 30 years of watching it. I may look at it again when tennis is shown in 4K HDR 60fps. Right now, highlights on RUclips are 1080p 25fps. This is unacceptable in 2024. Other reason is that modern tennis has simply become just too boring and it's dying. Djokovic found the most effective way to play tennis that unfortunately lacks elegance and style displayed by past champions. And tennis youth is just copying what works, which is Djokovic's style. I really don't have any desire to watch Djokovic's copycats like Sinner win more grand slams with the same robotic style. At this point, tennis needs a revolution. Let them play with wooden rackets again maybe so tennis is about brains and artistry again, not just power.

    How are you going to accuse Nadal of lying when this is his statement?: "I want equality. I want women to make more than men if they generate it. Should the prizes be equal? In most tournaments they are. In my sport I have supported that internally."
    How do you know he didn't support that internally????
    Nadal said some truths about Djokovic but he neglected to say that Djokovic is a disgrace with is unsportsmanlike behavior throwing his tantrums, hitting balls at people when angry and breaking his rackets like a spoiled brat. Nadal probably realizes, being the great sportsperson that he is that those truths would be interpreted as sour grapes simply because he has lost once more to Djokovic than the reverse. However, Nadal does have two Olympic Gold medals to none for Djokovic.

    Comment to show my appreciation for a great video. Really well made, only thing I might add more of is more interesting plays, rallies, moments in game. Like the shapo whiff! Otherwise extremely good content 👍

    Here is what I am thinking. Tennis players at the top are way overpaid. There should be more money for the challenger level and less for the top 50. Is Bublik suggesting that certain tournaments go away because he wants an easier schedule? Here is solution for that. Don't sign up. Duh ...

    It's all subjective, but if you go by stats and who they've had to compete against, it easier to pick Nola.
    27-23 vs Roger
    30-29 vs Rafa
    24-22-20 in Grand Slams
    Nola #1for 414 weeks
    Federer #1 for 310 weekd
    Nadal #1 for 209 weeks
    And, if that's not enough
    Djokovic is the only player to achieve the career Golden Masters by winning all nine active Masters tournaments, a feat he has completed twice.
    Now all 3 are incredible and I love Pete.. But he didn't have 2 other all time greats challenging him.
    😂
    So based on ALL the data I've given u.. Nola.. Who, though starting to slip.. Did win 3 GS last year at age 36. Against new young lions like Sinner, Alcatraz and Medvedev
    So imo the greatest ever (not counting Rod Laver)

    Tennis players complaining of being over worked, I don’t buy it. Choose your tournaments, no one makes you play this game.
    To be this good, you have to compete. Last I heard the top 10 players were doing okay money wise.

    Equal pay for best of 5 vs best of 3 isn't equal pay for equal work. Time on court should be a factor imo. I think for GS and other big tourneys it should be best of 3 until the quarter, semi and finals for both men and women.

    Equal pay for women same as the men is not a problem at all; and so is the number of viewers, I'm all for it!
    Now let's see some 5 set Womens GS matches! No one should be coddling the gender issue, let's give some encouragement and have the WTA place 5 set matches in Majors!
    If the men can go 5 sets, so can the women... but who is going to start that?

    Reduce tournaments on hardcourts. Especially American tournaments. 3 masters in a year and two of them next to eachother. Grand slams are important in tennis not masters and atp finals. There should be 3masters, each on different surfaces and maybe 3 atp 500 also on each surface. and the grand slams. Everything else is unimportant and too much. Tennis is becoming boring. There is a tournament every week. It's too much.

    • @gwyneth6045
      @gwyneth6045 3 месяца назад +2

      So what? They don't have to play every tournament, they can choose what to play. And you don't have to watch that too. Nobody should reduce anything. If ur bored, watch something else. Its selfish to say something should be reduced just because its boring for you.

      You are suggesting there should be 10 tournaments a year. Even if there are too many tournaments, that would be far too few.

    • @cokomoko7
      @cokomoko7 3 месяца назад

      Why shouldn't tournaments be reduced? Do they have so many table tennis squash or badminton tournaments? Because of business there are tournaments every week. It's bad for the players and it doesn't do anything for viewers, same old every week. There are so many unnecesssry tournaments especially in USA. They should stick to the grand slams and few other tournaments on each continent and different surface. For me that would be the perfect schedule.
